Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1
#721Happy yesterday CP. May you grow old and merry, so I can eat many, many more of your cakes and break a lot of your presents ;) -
Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1
#722No, actually, was Greek. -
Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1
#723*sigh*
Well, that's interesting
But I have to wait to test that hypothesis
I hope I'm wrong
Because if I'm right, that sort of makes a big waste out of a very long period of business. -
Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1
#724Give me
A kiss before you leave me
And my imagination
Will feed my hungry heart...
Oh, Louis Armstrong. You speak so true. -

Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1
#731Everything is not okay, but everything is never okay; you can't have everything all the time.
And if you spent all your time sympathetic to me, you wouldn't have enough time to hate me. -
Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1
#732I do suppose I've gone and done it this time. -
Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1

#734Good on ya', friend.
Did you lose the job?
What'd you get for your birthday? -
Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1
#735Happy birthday Andimia, despite your equine boss!
Also, Captain, I think I'm going to have to bag you and drag you down to Disney world. If they are not the happiest place on earth, as they claim, I'll sue and by you a fleet of yachts with the money. Or do something equally happy-making. -
Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1

Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1
#741Tried out the new Exalted, definitely better than the old Exalted core rulebook.
I loved the fact that the game had an actual ability for leading armies, but still it mirrors personvperson combat system. I wasn't the greatest exalted fan before and I'm still not but I definitely think of V2 as a great improvement that leaves me hungry for more. Any thoughts?
-
Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1
#742Exalted is the shit.
And, I have a stomachache. -
Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1
#743Oh fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck -
Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1
#744How creative.
How moving.
How existential. It hails from a motholy quote from the late jurassic.
It's beauty lies in its simplicity, jiluradaly, and pure guttural feel.
I love it. -
Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1
#745I'm not sure if this fits the feeling I want for the City of Sparrows right now so I'm gonna' leave it here to stew
Paldaita, investigator of the City Guard, left the local office at Cattle Price Way, eating a skewer of broiled river-squid purchased from a gohten vendor. He headed down to the riverside, where the masonry of the street gave way to masses of stilt houses. This was the poor side of the river; on the opposite bank, through a forest of boats in midriver, he could make out the towers of the palazzos of Uvata's Wall Chinnalli, and the Autarchic Palace, blazing with lights and fires and the sound of uproarious partying.
Paldaita (he was an honorary member of the Izma clan, not that that meant much after said clan's destruction in the Little Boot Battles, so to many he was Master Izma; to his friends he was Dhata, a nickname he hated, or Rusty Coin) passed down the Rachina Steps onto Ikhollai Bank Chinnalli, and there he stopped, to engage in the common Sparrowene hobby of riot-spotting.
The crowd was moderate in size, definitely not among the biggest, but they were well armed- most carried hammers, big barrel-mallets or blacksmiths' hammers or cobblers' hammers, and this (along with the bright red armbands that many wore) told Paldaita that this was a revolution riot, probably fomented by the Worker's Council and their socialist groups, and aimed at killing a few nobles and rich merchants. As the mob wheeled around the corner of Ikhollai Street, the sound of armored boots charging down the street rang out.
He saw City Guardsmen, their armor polished and shining, draw swords and plunge into the mass of the riot; the sound of screams and the arcs of flying blood told Paldaita that this riot would soon be struck, though one armored figure went down in a crush of fists and bricks and hammers. As he walked on, a mass of Guardsmen armed with spears and clubs slammed ringingly into the front of the riot, and the people broke and fled into the night.
The investigator arrived at Dog Forest Chinnalli just as the lampsmen began to light the torches. Dog Forest was a relatively quiet district, a collection of homes made from ramshackle planks and old silvered shake, interspersed with very tall fences, seemingly at random. A man in Gold-faction colors was pasting up a poster on a fence, and eyed Paldaita provocatively, taking in his sloppy clothing and loose belt. The investigator smirked, and moved on, coming to a pair of homes behind a wall-like fence, where a group of Guardsmen were talking to a pair of dirty residents.
The Guard Captain turned and inclined the brim of his wide hat. "Investigator, you're here," he said tersely, his one eye glimmering.
Paldaita nodded, rubbing his hand across his stubbled chin. "Show me." He followed the Captain into the narrow alley between the leaning houses. Dog Forest had long ago ceased to be a forest in all but name; but here Paldaita saw a new "tree". It was painted on the wooden wall of the alley, splashed on in thick pigments, a gruesome symbol, the tree of the Severed-Head Cult, with bloody heads for fruit. Sitting against the wall in a pool of black congealing ichor were three severed heads. Paldaita snarled, and sniffed the air. He placed a hand against the wall- the paint was damp. The painter had apparently been a decent artist, but was hurried- the image was without details but was easily discernable. Sometimes the Severed-Head Cult's symbol was a simple childlike scribble of their hideous tree, other times it was a quick sketch like this, and sometimes, where they had time, they made hideous tableau upon the brick walls or on the pillars of nobles houses.
The investigator turned to face the soldiers. Addressing the Guard Captain, he said "The painting is recent, probably within the hour, but the heads stink too much to be within that time. I would say that they were killed about three hours ago..."
Paldaita dropped to his knees by the heads and examined them.
"... And you should look in Father Forge; these people have skin stained with ashes and soot." -

#750The Warren has been opened. The Pcharg, the vengeful warriors slain by the ice-flows of the Xaiparjj, are now free, and their undead bodies cannot be stopped. They do not understand the destruction they wreak, for their minds are as flat and cold and heavy and frozen as the grave, and hold no remorse or pity or compassion or even understanding that any other being might possess a warmer, more flexible intelligence. -

How could you possible be able to enter this highly intellectual debate on the proximity of intercranial matter and the suspected intoxication limit of the common sparrow, which, incidentally is an avid domino player. -
Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1
#7560o would you read 118 pages of text??
Just so that you can post only about 1 or 2 paragraphs if even... -
Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1
#7571 to 2 paragraphs, that is a lot of words.
Let me sum up the last couple hundred pages for you.
