    Or does it? Do you
really know if I, in fact
    know what I'm saying?

    It down penguin but it

    Haiku, bah.

...the words I wrote are power words that came from a now dead cult who had an imprisoned genie at their command. This genie was unusual for the fact that it was simply a head in a jeweled purple box. The front of the box had double doors and would open revealing the genie's powerful head. When the power was brought into play the power words would be chanted a blue glow would surround it. The genie could be summoned to open it's box when the word 'wish' was used around it in any context. An unusual characteristic of this genie was that it didn't seem to be limited by the traditional 3 wishes.

Other oddities owned by this cult was talking chairs and windows, animated statues, sentient puppets, and mechanical golums.

    Words of power,
    minds of power,
    men of power,
    mind me not.

    But scaly penguins,
    freckled penguins,
    red haired penguins,
    want me shot.

Those who have been once intoxicated with power, and have derived and kind of emolument from it, even though but for one year, never can willingly abandon it. They may be distressed in the midst of all their power; but they will never look to anything but power for their relief. - Edmund Burke

Actually, Roack, haiku does work in English... Clearly, I've made haiku. I wish I could remember the name of that black dude who wrote all the haiku... He was American.
And it's a lot more harmonious to finish a phrase or clause before you end a line. You'd  want the line to be "it won't work in English", not "Won't work in English" (if that had few enough syllables). (Also- 'I think you have got it down, Penguin')...
This doesn't necessarily mean you have finish a single sentence within the line, but rather that it needs a "final" sound... Or at least the end of the thought.

    worker bees can leave
            even drones can fly away
            the queen is their slave

    Flowers bloom and die
            Wind brings butterflies or snow
            A stone won't notice

    Opposable thumbs
like rules, are meant to bend
            but can be broken

That first one's from Fight Club, isn't it?

Of course Shakespeare beats you all hahaha!
Rhyming couplets is easier than verse!
I hate the ten syllabic lines, they suck.
  10. Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1

    That's..

    7 syllables
    10 syllables
    10 syllables...

    That isn't a haiku.

As for the Haiku, I'm no master (obviously)
Though, from what I understand, in English it does have slightly different principles than in Japanese, hence the "It won't work in english" line.
  16. Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1

    #616
    :shock:I don't appreciate that:shock:
  17. Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1

    #617
No, it doesn't really have different principles in English... As far as I know?

    I still want a hamburger.

    who wouldn't?
  19. Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1

    Me!

We were supposed to have christmas dinner at work, but the restaurant had a leaky pipe in the kitchen. Instead we went to this artsy fartsy restaurant, but their christmas dinners were out of stock.

In the end we had artsy fartsy hamburgers. Yuck! Give me the regular kind any day but save me from the fine cuisine.
  20. Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1

    #620
well what about artsy fartsy bacon cheese bugers? (Vegetarians hate me!)

Warm, seeded oven warmed normal bagged bread nestling a tender made to order frozen piece of chuck amid roman lettuce and a white onion of which you probably had to wait 20 minutes for where BK does it just as perfect in under 3...plus the 400% markup. But you did probably get a lemon in your water from the finest bottled tap water they can gouge you for.

Tell me they were at least steak fries with it or else I will have to tie a chicken leg to a 3-legged dog.
  22. Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1

    Mmmmm....... Steak fries...

I went skiing today, and had a very good, very expensive ski-lodge hamburger.
  23. Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1

    #623
Can you believe that the AF is so f&@#!* up that, to go skiing, we must file a risk assessment sheet putting down personal skill level, where, how, etc., take that route it through 4 layers of supervision AND talk to a frickin officer who is suppose to brief you on the risks you are taking and must "approve" your request to go skiing??

    FARGLE LISHING TRICKIN MORGESH FROSHIN

    IDIOCY

And this goes for most any activity you do. One time deal BUT one time stupidity and waste of resources I say.

    That's why I don't Ski, great master (and I'm a Swede too!)
It's deprivation! Just like how they charge forty bucks for your average roleplaying book!
And how Barnes and noble charges eight dollars for a paperback (eight for Alice's adventures underground! Eight I say! I love Lewis Carrol as much as the nxt guy or girl who loves him, but seriously...)

                      so are you saying
                  That the Shakespearian verse
                    is just normal speech?

Try skiing down a snowy hill, only to find it sans snow at the bottom. ouch.
  26. Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1

    #626
Shakespearian verse is ten syllables to a line, alternating between stressed and unstressed syllables. The difference is there, It's just hard to notice.
  27. Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1

    #627
Haha! Forgive my ignorance, as much as I enjoy Shakespear's many plays, I have yet to truly delve into them. And it is hard to notice, but definately has a positive effect on the rhyming patterns. Like a silent E for poetry.

Actually I've never seen much of shakespeare. Being in an acting class however, I'm mobbed by his fans daily...

    Happy new year guys!

just saying hi coz it's new year... n_n

    ~sigh~
Ive been trying out some ideas for submission...
But it always turns out to be a duplicate of the other...
I tried making some items but...
It turned out to be a duplicate of the other...
Really... I'm not good with these things this days...

I'm only good at character design... But I always mess up with the history/Origin of the character...
I guess I better just give up, huh?

not only that! I almost lost my life this new year!

    ~guess~

    "Do we really care?"
    "HUH!?"
    "Your off topic"
    "Who are you?"

    ~guess~

    Am I right?
    Yeah... you might say that...

The fiends of Yarg-Torlax have done a number on my toilet. Seems that is a multi-dimension wormhole and they were tired of getting unpleasant surprises on their Oreg-Taur Rugs when they came home from a long day of terrorizing the 3rd Pan-Dimensional Vortex

Which number was it?  I personally like 0, even though there is some debate as to whether or not it is really a number.

Hey! Zero has an utter lack of feelings too!
  34. Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1

    #634
0? What the heck is that? The concept of nothingness and no quantity is useless and makes no sense to me since by identifying 0 you cancel out the absence of value since you gave it a value. Crazy people.

Farkle? Ever played it. GREAT dice game!!! Rules seem a bit silly/wierd/don't make a lot of sense, but once you get into it then it gets quite addicting. :)

Heart-eating Penguins! Why, I never heard of such creatures, except in an ancient norwegian legend:

"[...]They say it's beak is razor sharp and crimson as the blood in the veins of man. The CaptainPenguin they call it, and it is consider to be one of the greater horrors of this world. It lies dormant in the glaciers above Eler-Kathal, called Boise among men, and has been slumbering the last year. From its prone body, small, disgusting creatures detach themselves and slither through the penguin-mucus, to enter our world, to spread panic, to promote fear, and to feast on the flesh of mankind from now till eternity. [...]"

Well, I just thought I would mention that I picked up the Exalted: Fair Folk book.

Cap - It's certainly as complicated as the Sidereal Book, and probably about as useful since I have absolutely no one interested in playing Exalted here. I do like reading it, and some of the concepts are pretty cool. It does make for a nice change from the Abyssals or the Dragon-Blooded.
