    Darbuduburau

    Darbudubaru indeed penguin!
Also, the name having been fixed, I make a formal apology to Wogden, after all, it IS obvious he's on the home-shopping network looking for diamond studded roller-skates once worn by elvis and the artist formorly known as prince at the same time, though, arguably the problem could be in the neck.

No, he's not close enough to the screen o be doing that. I think that he's on ebay waiting to the last second till the auction closes to outbid some poor old guy on discounted pacemaker batteries.

He's trying to pay his phone bill online before the phone company shuts down his connection and his social life vanishes faster than macaroni and cheese at a diet convention.

I dont like this add because it kinda plays to the stereotype that all gamers play their games in the basement. Undesireable things are kept in basements, like old furniture, ugly appliances like water heaters and furnaces and things like monsters and the stereotype of the modern gamer.

Look, it says, if you game, you obviously hide in the bunker that is your basement. Better to be sealed away in the confines of the earth whilst enjoying your hobby.

Ambiance aside, I have little interest playing in the basement.

I don't know about anyone else's basement, but there are things that live in my basement, spiders being the most common. Not my idea of a nice place to game. Some of my old group's games were played in Bennigans, Pizza Hut, and the Olive Garden. We were never ashamed of our hobby, we never hid in the basement like a socially stunted troll.

    Funny...yes
Still didn't like the underlying concept.

    just my 20 pesos

You just wanted to make page 100. The ultimate accomplishment, and now it is yours and yours alone.

    Sly dog.

    Tricksy little devil!

This calls for a celebration of some sort... I say we spit-roast captainpenguin in celebration. He WAS the one to start this thread after all!

Well the doctor said to start eating more fish and poultry in my diet instead of so much red meat. I guess I'll just save time and eat both at the same time. I'm going to start eating penguins.
  10. Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1

    You can eat live penguins?

    YAY IT GOES 100 WHOOHOO!!
  11. Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1

    #491
You can, they don't run very fast, but I wouldn't recommend it. Penguin is much better slow roasted with a hint of thyme.
  12. Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1

    #492
I prefer my penguin with either rosemary, or with garlic and dill. Lemon is a must since penguin always tastes a little gamey.
  13. Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1

Between Lisa Montgomery from Skidmore, Missouri and Peggy Jo Conner from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, a peculiar adoption trend has begun in the States. I must say I am getting inspired here. The missus complains about the labours of child birth, so I guess I am going to ambush that pretty neighbour and steal her progeny! You know: Knock her out with a baseball bat, drag her to somewhere nice and quiet and then cut her fetus out with a knife. Then I will go home and wash the baby, before I give it some milk and sing a lullaby song and have some tea! Oh joy! Family happiness, here I come!

I like babies! specially creepy undead ones that have godly powers and should have never been brought into or near existence

    Whatever, dude, whatever.

    =P

People do crazy stuff all over the globe, "dude". This had nothing to do with the old "The World vs. the States" debate.

It had everything to do with this:

    Ew ew frickin' ew.

I'm as much a fan of childs as the next guy (unless he's an infanticidal maniac), but somehow the idea of stealing someone else's - right from their womb - seems to be taking it a bit too far. Even if you have already lied about being pregnant.

Then again, I doubt I'll ever be in a situation like that, so I'm hardly qualified to go knocking other people's lifestyles... but ew.

I'm sorry, it just annoys me.
    Just annoys me.

I'm not grossed out, I'm not horrified... I guess I'm just jaded now.

    *sigh*

I'm sure it was, no doubt, a pro-lifer, or a pro-choicer, or a Democrat, or a Republican, or a liberal, or a conservative, or an atheist, or a Christian fundamentalist, or it was terrorists, or it was government fearmongers.

I'm not in the mood for the news.

I think I just found a new political affiliation.
  25. Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1

    #505
I am going to start my own political party - The Regressive Party

We believe in the right to game
The right to snipe at stupid people
and the right to eat penguins and other odd wildlife

I'm also going to use T-rex as the mascot of the party because it could totaly eat a donkey or an elephant.
  26. Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1

I always wondered what penguins tasted like... Duck, maybe?

Interesting note - the forums now have a total of exactly 33333 articles. And this was the very first time that little counter had caught my eye.

Hooray for life's little coincidences.
  28. Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1

Have you ever just had all the color drain out of life in an instant, like the world suddenly became a grey and dismal soup of disappointment?
  29. Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1

    #509
Yeah actually, that happened to me when I was three, and the color only comes back every now and then. Really bright colors though, so the gray is worth it.
  30. Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1

    #510
Metaphorically speaking, yes. Literally speaking - I dunno. Perhaps this colour we speak of is only an illusion in itself - thus the absence of such would simply mean the absence of an iron curtain of which we ourselves are unaware...

    I will meditate on this.
  31. Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1

    #511
If you are speaking in terms of abaissment, or an ebbing of the soul, then yes. I have seen all of the color drain out of the world. It comes at that instant in the morning when you realize that you hate your job, and you know it is never going to go anywhere. You realize that no matter what you try to accomplish today it will all be either screwed up by someone else or someone else will take credit for it. You know that you can't even rely on the sense of accomplishment for doing something well because someone will come along and instead of seeing what you are, what you have done, all they see is what you havent completed, or the fact that your shirt is wrinkled.

Generally at that point all you can do is either laugh or cry, but the danger is once you start you may not stop until someone thinks you a lunatic or a manic depressive.
  32. Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1

My black and white is more aimed at how zombified people have gotten. How much time is spent in front of the TV, allowing the TV and the biased news to tell them what to think. Pushed and shoved by commercialization until there is no independent will left, just bouncing from the next style and/or craze to the next. Laziness of having any and all information at their fingertips allowing less and less motivation to find things out for themselves. This simplicity in attaining anything, through the internet, mail order, setting up expectations for immediate results and numbing the motivation to actually have to work for something. The younger generation is getting more me-centric that they often don't realize the impact they have on those around them. For as smart as people are getting they are sure losing touch with the true world around them.

    But I am grumpy.
  33. Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1

    #513
Being "me-centric" isn't neccesarily bad, it's the heart of capitalism, and has been working for a while now.

I guess life is complicated sometimes.
Okay, Bad Week is over, sunny skies in the future.

The Citadel wouldn't be the same without your cheerful brand of insanity,Captain. You're the only things that stands between us and depressing normalcy.
