There we were: In the middle of the wilderness. The map clearly showed there would be a path through the marsh, but it had long since been reclaimed by nature. So we had to take a 10 mile detour... on the motorway.
After some time on the motorway*, with truck convo, wys speeding past us, we had to face the truth: We would be road kill if we continued along that road. We returned to home base and had to plot another journey...this time using new maps.
Ohhh, by the way... I hate mosquitos!
*Yeah, I know. The motorway is a bad choice for biking. But I live in the middle of nowhere, a godsforsaken backwaters. It was either the motorway or straight through the marshland forest. -

#422I recently noticed a disturbing detail about Captains settings... His two first settings, Armorican Kingdoms and Deadspace, had about 190 posts. Then the next couple of settings, The Empire and Ageratos, had about 90 posts... Now he made Sic Transit Mundus with only 28 posts... His settings are getting halved all the time... Soon he will create 1 post settings! -

#431In responce to the increasing presence of penguin related cults and graffiti the Citadel has introduce the Office of the Citadel Penguin Control Policy, also known as the OCPCP. The OCPCP will work with the Department of Citadel Security, or the DCS in coordinating efforts to control and eliminate Penguinistic activities.
The Department of Penguin Management, the DPM will be coordinating their efforts with the ANS, the Avian Naturalisation Service to see that the penguins that are captured are treated in a humane fashion. Several detention camps will be set up mainly in the Ageratos and the Deadspace forums, formerly hotbeds of Penguinism.
These camps will be availible to the International Red Cross to ensure that the penguins are in good condition, being feed regular amounts of herring, and given time to swim in cold water. They will not be allowed access to the book The Penguin in Yellow, nor any other of the Mythos tomes of their pagan faith. This is not to deny them access to suitable worship. On several occassions detained penguins have summoned horrors that should not be or caused epidemics of disease or madness by simple access to these works. They will be allowed to read Encyclopedia Brittanica, People Magazine, and Lowrider.
It is the sincere hope that the OCPCP will be able to reduce flagrant penguinism in the future and make the Citadel a safer place for poor posters, copycat character makers, and ignorant people of questionable linguistic capability. No directors have yet been placed over the OCPCP, but several members have been suggested. Most of these have been considered questionable as they have tied to the current leader of the Penguin Party.
After intense screening and congressional debate it has been decided that Kalabar will be the new director of the OCPCP, with Dark Lord acting as Vice-Director of the agency. -

#434Word from the OCPCP coordinated ANS PMS to match the IRS who is down with the OPP in regards to the ASAP RSVP required by the DMV for the XTC found in the UP. Because of this the UPS and the UN have agreed to check CNN and ARPA for IQ on the FAA and CIA in regards to said penguin intervention IAW previous discussion. -

#437Like a low roar which cannot be heard, there is a shiver in the city. The flickering darkness of gaslights becomes the quivering of muscles tensing to pounce. The golden-glowing windows become staring eyes, predatory with thick glass glances. The gutters are gaping nostrils, snuffling for prey. The spray-paint penguins seem to wink and leer. Something emerges from the gutter, like a shadow, like a mass of gleaming oil and filthy water, or like ambulatory darkness which advances like fungus across the pavers.
The Penguin has returned. Beware. -

#438It was early morn - the sun had not yet risen. On the far side of town, in the closed and empty citadelian tavern, a black-robed form slumbered quietly. A light tinkling sound - like a muffled shattering - issued forth and with a snort, Shadoweagle raised his head and awoke. Blinking once, twice, and once again as he regained his senses, the mage peered around his eerie surroundings. When there were no others in the tavern, it really was quite an unsettlingly quiet place to be. At that moment, an indescribable shiver of discomfiture coursed through his tired bones as though something of great magnitude and portent just occured. Rising to his feet and peering around warily, Shadoweagle narrowed his eyes. For a moment, he thought he saw a shadowed movement outside one of the windows, but his attention was diverted to an ominous creaking sound. He had barely enough time to turn his head before seeing the huge, previously empty keg behind the bar split apart - the wood too weak to hold the pressure of the contents behind it. A strangled scream issued from the mages throat - quickly cut off, as the black form was swallowed, enveloped in a sea of grog.
A few minutes later, the drenched form of shadoweagle stumbled out of the tavern, muttering incessantly, "He... it has returned... it's back..." Collapsing in the gutter and falling into a drunken sleep, the mage retired until the sun was far overhead. Those who pass his form will notice the saturated form of Shadoweagle, and will wonder over the completely dry, tidy tavern behind him - the keg behind the bar still intact and sturdy as ever... -
