Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1
#441Agreed, said the barber as his penguin made toupee was devoured by the binary fashion hawks. -

Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1
#447Insomnia Builds Character! -
Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1
#448Yeah, well, I think I've had about as much "character-building" as I can stand. -
Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1
#449Insomnia...
According to Fight Club, insomnia can't kill you. However prolonged sleep deprevation (on the magnitude of months or longer) can be fatal. Or at least it can be fatal according to Maxim magazine (damn that magazine has tanked)
it is a silent and stony companion more persistent than any vermin, and as relentlessly methodical as the tick of the clock.
I tried chamomile tea (yeah, I misspelled that word...ballocks!) but that didn't work so good. I later found out that stress and lack of physical excercise were the main causes of my inability to sleep.
Beer...Hooray beer! -
Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1
#450Or are they? I would blame my archnemesis:
QWERTYUIOP!
I WILL GET YOU SOME DAY QWERTYUIOP ASDFGHJKL ZXCVBNM! -
Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1
#451Well, it hasn't been months, but it has been a month.
But it isn't ever uniform- I can sleep sometimes, other times I can't at all. -
Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1
#452Have you tried closing your eyes? I know that helps me A LOT!
Other things I do are rolling over, fluffing my pillow, or drink a fifth of vodka. -
Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1
#453I solve the problem of sleeplessness by staying awake till the wee hours of the morning, watching video clips of illegal fights staged between wild animals. Works every time. By the time I get off the com,I'm struggling to walk straight. -
Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1
#454Dance the Jaji Po, all night long. -
Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1
#455Been awfully quiet lately...
I've had nobody to talk to. -
Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1
#456okay I will be cap'n Obvious here. What exactly is the Jaji Po and how can one perform it? -
Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1
#457It's from Exalted; it's a dance which beguiles crocodile spirits according to Exalted canon, but I've extended it so that it beguiles many minor spirits as well as crocodile spirits. -
Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1
#458Very cool! May I join you in your Dance Cap'n? :penguin: -
Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1
#459Sure thing. -
Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1
#460Grrr...I may like Dancing with the Stars, but Dancing With the Penguins fills me with unholy Wrath, drawing upon the ire of those who are dead and sleeping, the slain gods, I unleash the Artfull Maiming Onslaught!
Face my obsidian sword, feel the crush of my Warstrider's heel, and the hollow bite of the hounds of Tindalos!
IA IA SCRASAMAX! -
Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1
#461Chaosmark appears in a swirl of some rainbow hue unknown unto mankind and plucks a hair from Scrasamax' head, beginning to chant a mantra of the variety found only in the Tome of Phobican.
"Metus o' metus, reperio en necto Scrasamaxo per formidilosus!" The rainbow energies swirling around the Phobiamancer arc to Scrasamax and begin to play havoc with his mind, displaying no longer the normal vision of the area, but instead a view filled with the deepest fears within his mind, and beyond. -
Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1
#462Yeah, suck on that, padre! -
Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1
#463I AINT SKEERED! -
Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1
#464I bet that fact scares your deepest fears, though. -
Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1
#465I attended a wedding recently, a Vietnamese-Norwegian intermarriage as a matter of fact. There I met an old GM, MoonHunter-style, one that had gamed for aeons and had quit gaming a few years ago.
Me: Hey, so I hear you are a good GM.
The Old GM (Eyes downcast): Yes... Yes, I used to be a GM.
Me: Oh, so you quit, eh?
The Old GM (Shrugging): You know... Group difficulties... Arguments and accusations.
Me: Ohh... Been there, done that. Luckily we survived. We still game on, in spite of all these years.
So I began to think: Being a GM can be a terribly unforgiving job. If you want gratitude, you'd better get yourself a dog, for your players will show none.
This weekend I GMed the successful conclusion of the "Prophecies of Redemption" campaign. I had buffed the end scenario (posted in the Coldforged section) up considerably and we all laughed and had a really great time. The GM screen even caught fire while we had a break and I had this dramatic sequence where I ran out of the building with a flaming chunk of cardboard paper in my hands... :) But I know, from experience, that this will all be forgotten. In my wake are dozens of players, a network of malcontent, that I have had to discard due to incompatibility, bad behaviour, drug abuse or other issues.
So what am I trying to say? Is this a heartfelt sigh or is there some kind of moral hidden here?
Well, both I guess. If you for any reason ever feel like your players owe you anything, you better think twice. If you want gratitude, GMing isn't for you: Buy a dog and it will a) boost your health (due to the exercise you get) and b) show gratitude. GMing will give you grey hair and a pot belly.
Thank you for your time :) -
Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1
#466Do you have grey hair and a pot-belly,AG? -

#470Living is over rated, that's why I'm a zombie! -

Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1
#472No, not yet! I haven't been able to secure a copy of the book yet! -
Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1
#473This is the movie I've waited my whole life to see. -
Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1
#474Well We've all known for awhile now that Cthulhu will eat you first Captain. -
Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1
#475The captain was eaten by Cthulu long ago, and now we are conversating with a member of the old race who has since comandeered his body and continued his existance. The Real CaptainPenguin has been left drifting in the cyclopean depths of R'leyh to consider the error of his ways. At least he has a copy of the King in Yellow and a box of jelly beans to pass the endlessness of eternity. -
Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1
#476Yes, it is true. This one has been a good vessel.
He's lying, I'm right here. No you aren't, you just think you are, shut up.
But... Yes I am, I'm talking right now- Shut up shut up shut up!
I'm right here! Lalalalalalaaaa, I can't heeear yooooou. -

Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1
#478^-- Sheer brilliance, right there. -
Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1
#479No no wogden, obviously the elf : Computer ratio in this picture is way off it should be atleast 5 : 0.98alfalfa. Also, it fails to denote exactly what he's doing on that computer. Illegally downloading music? Browsing the Official website? Staring blankly at his screen, pondering the vast mysteries of this universe and those beyond?
More bacon would be nice too, so as to offset the aftertaste of raw QWERTYUIOP. -
Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 1
#480Thanks for taking the time to spell my name right.
I'll agree, if you really wanna be picky, the elf to comp was a bit low - but I think we can all guess what he's doing, sitting up so late at a computer... especially with his face so close to the screen...
That's unhealthy, y'know. He's gonna get back problems.
