Re: Freetext Friday
#161Would it count if a mine was part of a bigger sub? I'm making something that keeps growing, see. -

Whoops, sorry I missed this. Technically, anything with the freetext counts. Personally, my rule of thumb is this:
If I were looking for a mine (in this case) for a game, and I clicked on your sub, would it be useful to me? If so, it should have the freetext, otherwise it shouldn't. So, if you have some specific mine, or a monster that lives in mines, or some cataclysm that started in a mine, those would all be good. An NPC who is afraid of mines, or a book with a picture of a generic mine are probably less useful. -
Re: Freetext Friday
#163Hey, let's do some Fish! -
Re: Freetext Friday
#164Oooh, nice one! -
Re: Freetext Friday
#165And yet we didn't get any.
Oh well. In honor of Halloween, how do people feel about Ghost?
(Actually, I don't care how you feel about it - I'm supreme dictator of Freetext Friday). -
Re: Freetext Friday
#166Next up is Bag. Kind of a limited one, it seems, right? Prove me wrong! Come up with something awesome and bag-related! -

Re: Freetext Friday
#168A new Friday means a new freetext. Let's go with something mighty this week. Mightier than the sword, say. That's right (write?), it's the pen, a subject near and dear to all our hearts. -
Re: Freetext Friday
#169A new week, and tick-tick, the clock is ticking. -

Re: Freetext Friday
#171Not too long ago, I had a chance to play SPI's Siege of Constantinople. One of the more notable elements of the siege, of course, was Urban's Bombard, a huge gun which, incidentally, exploded during the siege and probably killed Urban himself. He who lives by the giant gun, dies by the giant gun, I suppose.
Anyways, the new freetext is Siege Engine. -

WooHoo! Neither are on time, but you get TWO!!! Siege engine freetexts

#175Obviously, this week, the freetext is Santa. We've already got Candenheim (possibly from last year's freetext Friday?), now let's get more! -
Re: Freetext Friday
#176Off we go, into the wild blue yonder....
This week, the freetext shall be Aircraft. -

Re: Freetext Friday
#178Woo! Congratulations!
Following the Weapons of War theme, we'll move on to Submarine. Personally, I should be willing to account space versions of submarines, too, but I'm sure there are lots of variants or specific examples to pursue. -
Re: Freetext Friday
#179Let's try metal.
Go! -

You kicked off something profound with this one, sparking a radical change in the Cosmic Era. It took longer than expected, and its still not finished, and sadly doesn't have the first submarine in it.
Thank you for keeping up with the Freetext Friday, I value this contribution you make. -
Re: Freetext Friday
#181Giving people inspiration is my primary purpose in doing this, so I am glad you found some benefit.
Perhaps I'm on a bit of a ship kick, though, because this coming one is Battleship. The Bismark, Imperial Star Destroyers, the Dreadnaught, lots of good stuff here. -
Re: Freetext Friday
#182Everybody was Kung-Fu fighting,
Their kicks were fast as lightning.
Kung-Fu is the new freetext. Hit it! -
Re: Freetext Friday
#183We've been doing some pretty modern stuff recently, so perhaps a more fantasy-friendly entry would be good: Crown. Maybe it's on someone's head, maybe it's a long-lost heirloom to an ancient kingdom, or maybe it's something you picked up at the Garage Sale from Hell. -
Re: Freetext Friday
#184Noble. Go. -
Re: Freetext Friday
#185Let's try Greek Mythology. New freetexts can be fun, right? Heroes. Monsters. Gods. What more can you want? Go crazy with it. -
Re: Freetext Friday
#186I'm singing in the rain, just singin' in the rain, what a glorious feeling, I'm happy, a-gain...
Singing is this week's freetext. I think this is a tricky one, because it's a bit hard to imagine why someone stuck for an idea would already have singing. But it's possible! Singers! Magic songs! Strange methods of communication! Whale songs! There are places to go with this one! -
Re: Freetext Friday
#187Let's see a Witch. I know this one should be doable. -
Re: Freetext Friday
#188No witches. Howzabout a nightmare? Perhaps a poison? A spell? A curse? Brain implants? Lingering mental trauma from interfacing with high-tech computers? -
Re: Freetext Friday
#189We got a Nightmare! Check it out if you haven't already.
Next up is Viking. Norsemen. Norse gods. Giants. Wolves. Berserkers. Space vikings. All sorts of places to go this time. (Should we expect Cosmic Era Vikings?) -
Re: Freetext Friday
#190Okay, I'm going to try to start a totally new Freetext this week. Monster of the Week. Give me those monsters and other villains good for a one-shot appearance in a Buffy, Doctor Who, or similarly episodic monster-hunting game. No big, campaign-arc-defining sorts allowed (though there is still a fair bit of leeway here. Obviously, a lot of villains could be used in an extended style or not, but try to avoid one's pointing that way).
I also encourage you to add the freetext to older posts. Go! -
Re: Freetext Friday
#191And finally... another Freetext Friday sub: Beware the Snow Devil! -
Re: Freetext Friday
#192Ah yes, I was also inspired to write a monster of the week. The Martell Griffin-there is only one. -
Re: Freetext Friday
#193I will check those out. But for now, this coming week, the freetext is Island. -
Re: Freetext Friday
#194Here's one I think could go places: University. I want your strange, magical, horrifying, or otherwise interesting places of higher education. College towns, major school organizations, and online learning programs are all also acceptable. -
Re: Freetext Friday
#195No? Alright, let's keep going.
Choo choo! Everyone hop on board the Strolen Train! Locomotives. The Orient Express. Space trains. Great train robberies. Ghost trains. There's got to be lots more to do with 'em.
All aboard! -
Re: Freetext Friday
#196Apologies for missing last week, but we must move on:
Glass Eye. Pretty creepy, right? Or maybe nice or good? -
Re: Freetext Friday
#197They've been a big part of historical Christianity, but are rare in fantasy religions; I speak, of course, of the Saint. And that's this week's freetext. -
Re: Freetext Friday
#198This week's freetext? Elementary, my dear Watson. Obviously, it's Detective. -

For this week, let's do Festival. All those fun, happy times. All sort sof things to celebrate or memorialize in a made-up world.
