Also worth noting I just got a pm on FB from Mystic to the effect of:

I just can't deal with that troll around the Citadel anymore. I'm staying away until either she leaves (doubtful) or I gain enough perspective to stop getting so pissed by her. (more likely, but it'll take some time)

So until Goss gets reigned in some how we've apparently lost Mystic for the forseeable future.  :(

His message of FB to me is his way of asking for help dealing with her, but Mystic aside, the fact Goss's attitude is driving members away, I feel something, (not sure what) needs to be done to make her chill out and stop being such a drama queen.

I think I'll leave this one to Strolen (Sorry!) as I am not a disinterested party in this discussion. I may be too willing to accommodate Goss for fear of losing another player from my game.

Aye, understandable, It's also worth bearing in mind for Strolen (or whoever winds up speaking to her) Goss loves trying to look like the victim anytime someone gets upset from her bullshit, and holds a grudge longer than most I've seen.
  4. Re: The backyard of admin fury!

On a more recent note I spoke with Mystic at length via FB and convinced him to return and simply add Goss to his ignore list to keep her from antagonizing her and diffuse the situation.

Whether or not this will solve the problem, or simply redirect Goss to a new target to fight with will remain to be seen.

    Not enough cursing, fuckers!

Looks like Myst is happy again, having blocked his Swedish muse. Seems like the end?

Aye, although one of the admins (or Strolen) should speak to Goss so she doesn't pull this same crap again with someone else down the road.
  7. Re: The backyard of admin fury!

    #167
    I don't think that's even needed.

    Let it be over.

Just got home and see that much has been had by all.

And by disinterested party you mentioned, val. I am truly disinterested...as in these dramas are really taking a toll on me.

I guess I will put something together for Goss.

    1) Can we check and see if MM really wants me to get involved. Sometimes it makes it worse.
    2) Yeah, well, that is probably the key. I don't want to stir anything up again if MM is taking the high road. (Which is massively difficult and a testiment to his fortitude. Bonus modifiers to his charisma?

I probably won't get to the draft till tomorrow. I will be home at a more normal time and tonight has some complications to my available time.

Val. Don't stop doing what you are doing. It was the right move trying to say something. Trust your gut and act on it.

For all, if it gets ugly or you are getting sucked into something that makes you uncomfortable, dump it on me. If you admins get stressed and aren't having fun than we are doing something wrong! Let me take the stress. Whatever you feel comfortable doing, go for it. More often than not they are reasonable and will listen to a friend...as I am sure most of you are to the Strolenati.

Just let me know a little bit about what is happening so I can help deal with it.

Thank you for dealing with this. And thank you Sil for all the background info and being another voice of reason through the scenerio. Any other advice on dealing with Goss is welcome and I will take it into account if/when I send the PM.

    Thank you all!!!

Fuck shit shit fuck ass butt bastard damnit hell fuck  (for Muro)

Yes, do nothing. Myst has taken the high road.

    My biggest takeaway here is...

They formerly were close friends until a few weeks back when Goss got pissed off at Mystic that he wouldn't visit some my little pony site she's a fan of...

    WHAT??!! LMAO

Goss: "Visit the fucking site, fucker!!!"
    Myst: "No, thanks."
Goss: "If you don't visit this adorable fucking pony site with all the adorable cute little fucking ponies, our friendship is over!!! You hear me? OVER!!!!

Was that a direct chat quote?

    It was?

    Oh, wow.

    ;)

Where the hell is the site, I want to go to it now. SCRAS....SCRAS....have you seen it. Go or you are banned.

I'm here, going to try to get caught up on the drama.

Really? That's what all of this fuss is about???

Bitching about 3.5 and 4.0 Dungeons and Dragons, and taking that shit personal?

    Jesus Christ on a cracker.

CaptainPenguin would have told both of them to shut the fuck up before he banned both of them for being retards.

Is this taken care of now? I don't want to kick the anthill if it's calmed down.

If it needs to be kicked, pissed on or set on fire, I can do that shit.

  14. Re: The backyard of admin fury!

    #174
Seems to have quieted since MM has set up an ignore filter for Goss... No action required at this moment.
  15. Re: The backyard of admin fury!

    #175
Mystic did tell me during chat on FB that he hopes "something" will done about Goss, and given her propensity for making waves and causing needless drama, a polite word to her to knock it off might be worth while to prevent future problems between Goss and someone else. For now though Mystic seems content to leave her on ignore and carry on.

Something to the effect of kindly taking her personal issues with people to a different place to sort them out and not turn Strolens into ground Zero for her drama bombs?
  16. Re: The backyard of admin fury!

    #176
Just spoke to Myst too. He doesn't want or need "something" done. For the record though, now that I have heard the tale first-hand, Goss is bat-shit crazy people. :)

But its all over for now. If Goss has another episode, i'll personally rip her a new one.

    Thanks.

Glad to hear he's chilled out, when I spoke with him on FB yesterday he was pretty steamed at Goss.

For the record though, now that I have heard the tale first-hand, Goss is bat-shit crazy people. :)

After hearing that tale, I have to say you're putting it mildly...  :budo:  :jawdrop:

Given Goss's track record thus far, I'd unfortunately say "when" to be a more accurate assessment than "if".  :puke:

Here's hoping Mystic putting her on ignore works as a wake up call to her and she perhaps reigns in her attitude.

Are we really bullies? He's a bit of a pot calling the kettle black methinks.

This bring up several questions.  What is the Citadel's purpose? I think it was designed as place for gamers that couldn't meet in person to share ideas and thoughts about gaming.

How did the Citadel become this repository for esoteric and self-indulgent writings guarded by bullies that seek to uphold this contrived and inaccessible form?

Part of this esoteric form may be found in the Citadel's content biases. Some of the arguments used for keeping out things like in-game stats may not hold water.  It was said (by Moonhunter and others) that in game stats make things in accessible, and certainly Stats alone do, but why haven't we included the stats in addition to other ideas?  Why did the masters of the Citadel, feel the need to separate ideas into different categories?

Is there a culture of content and presentation bias of on the Citadel? Certainly when Aramax says "have your own way of doing things" he has identified such a bias.

Should the Citadel be more accessible and supportive? Why did Splatterbox recently post and then leave?

Why do people like Aramax and Moonlake find the long form content on the Citadel inaccessible?

    Here are my thoughts:

I wonder if this expectation of attention for things on the internet that differs from things read in hand or total in person.  I speculate that when we click on something on the internet we are expecting an immediate presentation of information and thus are turned off or befuddled by long 'dense' text.  In your case (Aramax) I wonder if you have the same aversion to prose when reading fiction in other formats?

I think there is a different motivation for the consumer of RPG fiction than traditional fiction.  The consumers of RPG fiction look more to use the fiction as a platform for their own ideas rather than reading the fiction with an interest in its own internal narrative or personality.  Look no farther then the voting guidelines that are defined by usefulness than evidence for this argument.

Finally, I have a question.  Has the bar been continually raised on content of the citadel by the people that have been here for years?  Has this on going back and forth with the chronic posters made the sight inaccessible to new comers?

  21. Re: The backyard of admin fury!

    #181
my 2 cents, ax is just "talking", its his thing. The real idiot here is Aramax imo...

Why can't the citadel be more how I want it, rather than how others want it? waa, waa, oh and here's my latest masterpiece, I call it XORD!!! If you people don't like it there's something wrong with you, and *this* is why "we" don't get enough members!!"

    SHUT UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  22. Re: The backyard of admin fury!

    #182
Against my better judgement, I am amidst my 2-page meandering, droning, philosophical, ode to the days of yore replies....

Hopefull bore the thread to a standstill a la a Moonhunter reply.
  23. Re: The backyard of admin fury!

    #183
I think it is calming down really. I was put off by the 'bully' comment, likely due to me worrying that my concern with spelling and grammar was considered 'bullying'.
  24. Re: The backyard of admin fury!

    #184
Muro; You and Aramax need to just take a rusty nailed club each out back and hash it out :p

I never really get these kinds of threads. Like, discussions on the 'correct way to vote', or what's a 'good submission' or how to best 'cater to new people', or 'how to comment productively'. They all sound to me like 'No, you're doing it wrong! I know what's best!'.

What's best is for people to do what THEY (the individual) wants to do. If Cheka likes to give 5's to every sub? So be it. It's also my right to vote 1's if I see fit. If someone wants to add some stat-heavy or poorly thought out submission, go nuts, I don't care! But I also don't care if someone lowers their vote because of it.

Maybe my problem is that I care too little  :ahh:
  25. Re: The backyard of admin fury!

Every few years I have to re-explain the Citadel and why it was made. I am usually more polite than "It is my site and that is how I want it." My personality type doesn't let me do that. It always requires way too much deliberation, thought and justification. So the post is to remind myself as much as it is to explain it.

So (checking to see which thread I am in) FUCK YOU. IT IS MY SITE, I DO WHAT I WANT TA DO. LALALALALA

Now I am naked, running around my citadel. Balalalalalala

I'm _this_ close to moving that sub into his in work. This shit should stay in the fucking forum.

Shall we vote on banning Meta submissions? I'm even okay with it being retroactive including my own.  Strolens would be excluded of course.

I fixed it. Latest sub from Aramax.

    He misspelled strolenite as STOLONITES.

I'm serious about banning meta posts.

Having written one such sub myself I feel it might help clarify why I wrote it.

I didn't write it to instruct others on how they should vote, I wrote it to explain to others why I vote the way I do. Someone sees a  5 or a 3 or a 2 or whatever from me, they might wonder why I voted that way, and should they care enough to wonder (and ask) I can point them to a sub instead of typing it all out to them.

Voting is a personal thing, what's right for one person is likely all wrong for another, but seeing behind the mental curtain what makes someone vote the way they do (since the law of the hammer prevents us from simply asking why or for more commentary anymore.) can be helpful, and prevent the frustration of not getting why someone votes like they do.

Because such threads do provide useful info to people I'm fine with the ones already up existing, and if someone feels like telling the strolenati the way they vote so we better understand them I don't really see the harm. Now when someone starts telling people they are doing it all wrong and should do it their way, I'll be the first to step up and tell them hell no.
  38. Re: The backyard of admin fury!

Other meta posts actually show a structure and a type of purpose, that one is neither. Definitely a forum post as mentioned and I don't see it really helping anybody. And it is a post that drives critics which flame up worse in the Citadel as it always seems more formal and final than in the forums.
