#81Why haven't I posted or commented or voted in what seems like years. I used to have a decent groove where I would at least jump in occassionally.
Lately I haven't done shit!
I can say I want to use the time on coding or homework or I am too busy, but really, how frick'n long does it really take to read and post a quick comment? If I practice what I preach about the gut feeling vote then a gut feeling comment shouldn't be too difficult either.
I am going to try my ass off to review a minimum of 5 random submissions a day from now on. My name is on the site yet I don't do anything visible. That is just bullshit! -

#82My required Quality at the mill where I work is 95%.
3/5 is 60%, if I did 60% Quality at work I would be out the door in a week.
I hold myself to a high standard, my submissions take alot of personal time, energy, and effort to write. If there are valid reasons that a submission is bad, such as the formatting errors and such on my last piece, that is fine.
Desiring a high score or a good vote isn't a naked cry for attention, nor is it a lack of self-esteem. I dont need the praise and accolades of others to prove my own self worth. It is prefectionism, it is a sort of intellectual narcissism, a literary competitive urge. -

#96Somewhat pointed is also Ryanator has only commented on punk's posts. No other posts. None.
And, punk has voted 5/5 on both of ryanator's subs. They are either one and the same, or friends/relatives that share the same computer.
All of punk's votes have been 5 on ryanators. All of ryanators have been 5s on punks, and punk is basically tossing off any critisim on his subs "you can't win em all."
Thoughts? I'm tempted to go in and delete all of their votes from each other.

#97I think the matter should be brought to Punk/Ryan's attention before such action is taken. If it is one person pumping himself up, then I agree with Val, delete that which shall be deleted. If it is two people sharing a computer, then we should make them aware we know and ask them to spend less time blowing each other and more time commenting and voting on other subs. -

#98Punk seems to be the real persona and Ryan the knockoff, with precious little difference, if any, in writing. Scrasamax has a point, he/'they' should get a chance to say something before we start deleting their votes.

#101Was a shame though - a lot of his stuff was good.
He might want to develop a thicker skin, I have been much harsher on subs in the past then I was with his. And there are some here who are far harsher.

It does irk me greatly when someone is shown a basic shortcoming in a piece of work they have written. It is very easy to jump to a defensive position and counter that the piece as written is perfect in its intent and execution. The good lord knows that I myself have been guilty of this sort of reaction to criticism of my work. Now, I think and hope I have matured to the point to be able to accept such critiques and improve what I have done from there. A stub has been written, I do not think there is any question there, but countering with a large article blaming the misconceptions of not just one but any reader who thinks it is insufficient? I think this is a measure of hubris. Perhaps this hubris has been gained from years of gaming and whatnot, perhaps it is deserved. I've read very little of what he has written, but to be honest I've not read much recently and written even less. After several beers relaxing in front of the computer, the urge to commit murder with a screwdriver via the ocular cavity has mostly passed.

Because I have been dealing with it for the past few days.
I wish I wasn't a damn hack. Half my errors or issues are me being a dumbass wanting to implement a feature. As soon as I get it to 80% and it is working then it loses my interest. STICK WITH SOMETHING FOR A CHANGE YOU PRICK! Then I wouldn't have to go back and fix all this garbage code I write! Dumb ass, lazy, Mathom worshiping mother fucker! I HATE fixing bullshit code, it is boring and repetitive...I want to make new shiny things to blow your MIND! -

So I have two bosses that now work in the same hallway as me now. Well, one boss, the other one just outranks me.
Boss: Almost 50 and just had first child. He is very book smart and can quote science movies and books he reads all day. If you need a piece of useless information about the cosmos, he has it. That and the history of the Mormons. His wife is a intelligent as well, but not street smart. One of those types that thinks she knows all and doles out the stupidest advice I have ever heard. So between the two of them they know every disease, every injury, every threat their child can face...and protect her from ALL them. You should see them getting a stroller down the stairs. Ten minutes one time, checking wheel rotation, adjust locks, checking wheels going down at same time. Stopping. Start again. Stop, decide to carry it down. Stop again, dangerous. Maybe take her out and then put her back in after the stroller goes down the steps. (just a three step landing, they would never carry it up actual stairs).They also know all the growing stats, comparative intelligence's of their child and all that other crap that most normal parents understand but don't memorize....and he brags about it constantly. And compares to other kids here and brags on his to the other parents face. Who gives a shit and how dense can you get!?!?! Not to mention all the other life stories that I have already heard. He is *very* social.
Other boss. Has 10 million dollars from inheritance. Has a house in Hawaii with a '12 special edition vette in it. Owns two other "split window" stingrays in mint condition. Owns another house in Alaska and I think another in Arizona or some BS. Owns airplanes, oil rigs yadda yadda. You are probably annoyed reading about it as much as I am listening to it...weekly. There is ALWAYS a way to drop his finances into a conversation. Oh, he is a lady killer too. Every girl wants him etc. (he is over 50 and large, not the greatest catch IMHO). Another one that is very social and always has a story.
So, now they are both in my hallway and I don't get shit done till after 1000 when they finally leave me alone. My position usually talks to the boss in the morning everyday just to get the pulse of what is going on but they both come in now and they are bored and lonely so they tell stories. I am a fucking bobble head listening to them one-up each other for HOURS A FUCKING DAY!! It would be great if they left me alone after that but it is just intermission. Last week I probably only got 30 minutes to an hour of work done each day. Maybe 5 hours all week. And this is after I have been gone for over 2 months....and everybody saved their issues for me. I have three A4 lined papers filled with tasks I need to accomplish and can't do ANY OF IT BECAUSE THEY WON'T LEAVE ME THE FUCK ALONE. And you can kiss my ass if I am staying late after they leave and ruin my personal time for this shit.
Today my computer was down so I got even less done than usual and I am just thinking of my week and it is really pissing me off. Needed to vent a little. The wife is out of town for the week, which is why I am getting nothing done at home either, but at least my kids are truly entertaining to me.
