Re: The backyard of admin fury!
#41How the HELL did you guys let this thread slip onto second page of the admin forum!
I am SO annoyed! -
Re: The backyard of admin fury!
#42Necromancer just does not get it. He could do good things. But he has no clue.
HE IS SO DAMM 12!
He has been here long enough that he should know what is expected. Then he should not complain when we slap on them.
He keeps just putting out such crap. I think his score is as high as it is because we don't vote on much of his work. If we actually voted on it all, it would be 1.1
We know he can do it. The diatribe shows he can string together solid wording and ideas.

Be that as it may I am really sorry as I took this way too far.

#46Yes. I posted here first, then the other one. However, the existance of this thread, especially since you just brought it back to the front page, makes your other thread hypocritical. -

Yes. I posted here first, then the other one. However, the existance of this thread, especially since you just brought it back to the front page, makes your other thread hypocritical.
No.
It only proves that you should read forum posts better. Alternatively you could try to understand what people are trying to say. Whatever it is, you did not get it. Have a caramel and relax. You are totally off your base.
My intention with the other thread:
- Make our site policy better. Make users feel welcomed. To reduce the noise created by admins such as you and me when we go ballistic.
My intention with this thread:
- A place for the admins to went frustration in a non-intrusive way. It complements my other post perfectly, as it channels frustration in here instead of into the face of other users. It is hidden, thus only we see it. Since the creation of this thread, admin outbursts in the citadel proper has lessened visibly. The thread has been successful and helped us towards a more desirable image. -

Re: The backyard of admin fury!
#50I fucking fucking fucking hate not having any time anymore
Goddamn the Industrial Revolution for making us work regularly -
Re: The backyard of admin fury!
#51What he said! -
Re: The backyard of admin fury!
#52Not to infringe on the thought, but before the IR, you wouldn't have to work regularly... you'd have to work most of the time, or starve. Unless you happened to be in the upper strata of society.
But d**n the lack time! -
Re: The backyard of admin fury!
#53Depends on how far back you go! Studies comparing primitive peoples (in the Amazonas and the like) with modern age peoples, have found that the life quality of primitive peoples far surpass that of modern age people... Provided there isn't a drought or other shortage of food.
Of course, back in the dark and middle ages the life of a peasant was... not good. Especially in the harsh realms of Eastern Europe! (Crueller regimes there back then) -
Re: The backyard of admin fury!
#54(So... they lived better unless they happened to starve and die off of diseases? I wonder about the definition of the "quality of life" there... ) -
Re: The backyard of admin fury!
#55Free time. Time spent with friends. The like. I don't remember the criterias anymore. Sitting on our obese arses waiting for cancer or something else, like AIDS and avian flu, is the hazard's of the modern day and age ;) -

The Life expectancy is getting much longer

Life sucks even more today than before! Or at least much longer! -
Re: The backyard of admin fury!
#57Long life expectancy... Whatever for?
My grandmother huddles at a home for the elderly. It is easy to see she doesn't like it there as she desperately clings to us when we leave.
The modern age grants us the privilege to rot away, all but forgotten excepting some token visitors a couple of times a year.
When I am stoved away at a home for the elderly, I want a roleplaying implant, trapping me in fabulous fantasy 'til the day I die! -
Re: The backyard of admin fury!
#58(Then perhaps, she could be taken out of that place, and live with her family?)
But that roleplaying implant sounds like a fabulous idea... we've got to develop it, and make some big $$$! -
Re: The backyard of admin fury!
#59Yep. It'd be more addictive than heroin! Escobar go home!
(As for grandmother: Yes you are right. It is not possible however. Long story. I do not look forward to getting old. Even here in the famous and horribly overrated Scandinavian welfare nations, being old sucks. I'd rather just be a happy primitive hunter, fornicating at the forest floor and laughing with my friends all day long. All the way until my teeth fell out and I died of starvation in my cow-shit hut.) -

In other news, my awesome job turned a little sour, after it turned nonexistent. Once I had that crazy application done - and let me tell you, it was something, JavaScript that was optimized for performance in several browsers, if you know what it means...
...well, once I had it, I was promptly laid off, from one day to another. Yesterday I was a still a merry employee, happily oblivious to my fate. Turns out I was a one-trick pony.
But today... I am free again! :dracoliche: -

Re: The backyard of admin fury!
#66Now, dear friends, I know we need new members, and that they may not be as proficient with that writing thing, and may like different things than we do, their gaming styles and preferences can differ as well, which is all perfectly fine, and we need to be tolerant, and patiently point out the weaknesses or carefully state our opinions, that we have in fact different experiences, and perhaps we might provide some sagely insight in the area.

Re: The backyard of admin fury!
#68Heh.
Dunno, I dont think Stomphoof's stuff is all that awful, just incredibly cliched. Umm, wait, that may actually qualify as "awful" then, now that I think about it. :P
Give him time, he has potential.
Mr. Celophane, I havent gotten a read on yet. He seems more into Forum games rather than actual worthwhile output.
"The Friends of Pieh of the Same IP" fellowship however, (Railus, Victor-N, etc) are a bit...annoying, reviewing each other's subs with reckless abandon!
Who else?
(Hmmm, this may not be an "angry" enough post for the Backyard of Admin Fury :P) -
Re: The backyard of admin fury!
#69Yeah, you should break a few things out of principle. :)
I think I can agree with that summary. Stomp is kinda okay, and there might be some hope for Railus yet. The rest doesn't really post, so it can be safely ignored. -

#77AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
Dammit!
Curse the users of this stupid place, curse us in specific for our lazy, inbred ways, and wallowing in our superiority, and dispensing intellectual placebos around!
God, I so love to indulge in the deep debates, following all the loose ends, and putting perfectly slick logic wherever it needs to be, oh yeah. And I know that more comments is good comments.
But there has to be less of it. I want to just create again, without endlessly perfecting the details. Fuck high votes and XP.
In fact, I want to vote low. Three is a good submission already, clear? Not four. And if I vote below three, then so be it. I resent the push for the average vote. The good things I tell you, if someone hasn't already. The bad things, coward that I am, I may not articulate sufficiently, or heck, may not even know myself... sometimes things feel wrong, and that's what it is. Deal with it. My vote.
What have we done... where are we now? Did we lose all of our drive? Yeah, sucky ideas and holes need to be pointed out, but that thing takes time... the precious commodity that is always more lacking.
And where is that darned Murometz again? You can't even blame him for everything with those stupid kids!
Where are all the regulars anyway, dammit? So what if we have been broken one too many times, so what if we are a bit unstable? You would have thought they will come back no matter what, even if they are not complimented and pandered to all the time. Yet here we go... another little death (and I know it refers to something else).
We always arise again, always regain some of former glory. But I can't help but think that we always lose something.
Rant over, for now. Feel better, need sleep. Sleep deprivation really makes one disjointed. Let's see about tomorrow. -
Re: The backyard of admin fury!

Re: The backyard of admin fury!

Re: The backyard of admin fury!
#80The Rant code is now on.
But there has to be less of it. I want to just create again, without endlessly perfecting the details. @!#$ high votes and XP.
Thank you. You have just arrived where I have been standing for ages. Where, until right now, you have all bugged me about. You all wondered what the heck I was doing. You have told me I was wrong. Well. Welcome to my world. You have been living in it quite a while now. Now you are aware of it.
Now shut up and do 10 good chunks of work in 10 days. Don't worry about the friggen scores. Write thing that are useful for other gamers. And just write. You can edit later. Unless you have words, you have nothing.
I have had a couple of conversations about this place with people on other sites. The general response, they can't use most of the stuff we have here. So much of it requires you to rewrite your entire game world to insert it. So stop that. We need to be relavent.
We need to stop being (overly) artistic and start being useful again. You are suppose to be able to come here, grab what you need, get some inspiration, and go game. We need to stop being a creative writing site and focus on being a gaming site.
In fact, I want to vote low. Three is a good submission already, clear? Not four. And if I vote below three, then so be it. I resent the push for the
average vote. The good things I tell you, if someone hasn't already. The bad things, coward that I am, I may not articulate sufficiently, or heck, may not even know myself... sometimes things feel wrong, and that's what it is. Deal with it. My vote.
The reason I know you are wrong is that nobody that is hanging out here, currently, is a 3.0 writer. We have 4.0 writers in general. The others, all but one, left. The 2.0 writers we have chewed on and spit them out. Even being nice, we snobbishly snub them for being lesser newbies. You all didn't give them positive reinforcement for what they did. (okay some of it didn't quite deserve any reinforcement... but ... lets work with it).
Friggen look what you did on Pieh's recent submission. Minimal helping, no building upon the idea, minimial uplifting and creating. We just ragged on it, like we have not ragged on things in a long time.
You all wanted art and creativity. And blah. Get over it. The reason we are so imbred is that we stopped being gamers and started being artists. We vote on artisitic merits, rather than a game based scale.
So we need those Star Wars fans, those Star Trek Fans, those DnD players, those Serenity fans, and the comic fans. They have stuff they can bring to us. We need those 3.0 writers. We need people who are just putting out gaming stuff. Okay.. I am getting off topic, even for a rant.. we will return to this again.
What have we done... where are we now? Did we lose all of our drive? Yeah, sucky ideas and holes need to be pointed out, but that thing takes time... the precious commodity that is always more lacking.
We have driven away all our "average writers". We have become writers, not gamers. We drove away average members. Nobody wants to even try to submit because they thought they were not going to be accepted or voted high. WE LOST OUR DRIVE BECAUSE WE GOT TIED UP IN SCORES AND VOTES. People don't submit because they are worried about what score it gets, how it will be recieved, and won't submit anything that is less than a 5.0 Nobody can do that. Nobody can hit a homerun, big score, a big hit, hat trick, choose sports metaphor, every time. Authors don't do that. Do your favorite authors hit it out of the park/ score big every time? No, they didn't. The did well, but not everything is perfect. Are you as good as your favorite author?
Even with a subjective voting system, nobody scores really well all the time.
So you all have submission paralysis. Okay except me and Pieh, but the rest of you. You won't put out anything that isn't perfect. Just do it. Just fricken submit stuff (THAT IS USEFUL FOR OTHER GAMERS).
Sure we should comment and vote. But unless we really get into submission gear, it should just take a few minutes. I steal 20-30 minutes away from work every day. It takes me more time dealing with this admin stuff than it does to do my community duty.
end rant... for now.
