Ummmm, what??! -
Re: Guardians of the Citadel OOC
#203This is all your fault Muro, as evinced by your response of "hmm, I'm not really sure" to my question of the cosmology of the GotC planar topography and other words of an astral nature and stuff. Anyway, ass pullery has ensued. And Gyma has finally gotten to use more than three commas in a sentence, for which I am eternally grateful. Hopefully we now have enough uncertainty and doubt to put this behind us and kill more mooks. If not I could always request we go back and study how the needlemen shoot their needles with such vim and vigor. Of course to do that I'd need samples off of their corpses. Or we can save Spiderheart's life, I'm not too picky. -

Killed/Slain/Humiliated

Is that how much each Needleman was worth, or is this how much xp each of us got?

So... Echo... any healing spells coming my way?
Be a man, suck it and drive on... or drink water, take a Motrin, and drive on. That is what a military doc would say, after giving you a ZPac for any possible infections :D -

each worth. -
Re: Guardians of the Citadel OOC
#209Ummm, when did we decide to leave? And leave spidey, and not actually ask the angry alchie if that was copacetic, and are we taking the three year old with us monster hunting, and where exactly are we going? -

#211Alright, posting this here so everyone in the game can get a crack at it, and to make it official.
'Honey' is not in her official name, but it is what she is commonly called. If you can guess what it is, I will rate/comment on the wall-of-text of your choosing. You get the following hints:
Her father's name is Taxidea Taxus.
Her name is reflective of her personality.
She does not share her father's surname.

#213Ladies, Gentlemen, Undecided,
According to Muro the cave we're visiting is in the possession of a kind, caring Dracolisk, that just wants to give us cookies. In character, all we know is that there's a cave with a toothy, necky thing living in it. Also val five fingered a bag of smack, and the final two items shall be IDed on the trip to visit Doctor Acolisk. -

#214and in case you meta-gamers find aluminum and chocolate somewhere along the line...

Re: Guardians of the Citadel OOC
#215Probably not all that useful seeing as pure aluminium hasn't been around but like 100 years.
Edit:190ish, isolated in 1820s. Also that relies on the shape of the can, and while it is cool, if you end up in the middle of the wilderness without any way to make fire, you may need to slighty rethink your life choices. -
Re: Guardians of the Citadel OOC
#216Courtesy of Gyma's divinings...
Bands of Kruaa
These forearm bands function as a set of Bracers of Defense AC 4, but will not function in conjunction with any armor heavier than leather.
In addition they make the wearer immune to damage from electricity of all types, including the magical variety. Any electrical damage rolled against the bracers' wearer will instead "jump" and disperse among any and all living creatures within a 20' radius.
Book
This a a spell-book that isn't quite right, similar to the other two items found in the Rodden vault. Between its pages are 2 magic-user spells of each level from 1st thru 7th (14 spells in all). They can be cast at the 14th level of ability for purposes of range, damage, duration, etc.
Each time a spell is cast however a d100 needs be rolled by the caster.
01-35 -- spell cast normally, vanishes from book.
36-59 -- spell fails to cast, but remains in spell book.
60-88 -- a different (randomly rolled spell of the same level) is cast instead.
89-00 -- spell is cast at twice its potency. (range, dam, duration)

#219I was a Gyma and Celsia "we go too" post away from monastery post, but now Myst has wandered off. Sil mentioned if he's not back by dawn then search party, so now I'm stuck-ish...
Wheeeee loving game! -
Re: Guardians of the Citadel OOC
#220Meanwhile, you can tell me what cool spells are in the book ;) -
Re: Guardians of the Citadel OOC
#221Echo, promise you won't hate me, i swear the fates are not against you...clerics can't cast M.U. spells :) -
Re: Guardians of the Citadel OOC
#222wait a minute, addendum: Now, I realize that you are a priestess of a goddess of *magic*, but youre still a cleric :) So that kind of thing manifests more in a...1. maybe you can multi-class as a cleric/mu without penalties, or 2. maybe you can read mu scrolls and cast those spells at higher levels, or 3. maybe you get interesting boosts like, can use magic items usable only by wizards, or can begin casting low level mu spells (and progressively higher) at certain cleric level, and/or 4. etc...kinda way. But at this point, you wouldn't be able to cast wizard spells from the Rodden's rotten spellbook. -

#224...the proud owner of Headtaker needs to save at -2 vs magic again, or go on a mini-spree of berserker rage, looking to behead someone or something...and if foes are not around well, fellow PCs would do. Once someone is beheaded, the wielder calms down.
Do you folks realize that Myst is "acting crazy" in order to save your lives? He is sacrificing *himself*, so as not to spew blood amidst his friends. He's a bloody greek mythological hero, is what he is. :budo:

#226Emotional Val!!! Love it. -
Re: Guardians of the Citadel OOC
#227How does multiclassing work anyway?
I know you had to do it at level 1 if you were a demihuman in 2nd edition, and it was a rather poor choice (basically, you get later to higher level spells, for the chance to cast low level spells from the other class? whoop-dee-doo)
For spell casters, it was a poor choice in 3rd ed too, for the very same reasons. -
Re: Guardians of the Citadel OOC
#228You can do it at any time! In other words, next time its level up time (soon), you can just choose to gain a level of mage. So you'd be 2nd/1st level cleric/mu, and distribute your xp points between those classes as you see fit going forward. -

Good to know :)
I am a little disappointed things were advanced so quickly to the morning in that scene, I would have enjoyed being able to take an action and provide input once Mystic left, and have a chance to suggest waking the others or following him to keep him from doing anythign stupid (which is pretty much what he wound up doing,) but by the time I got home from work and caught up on the rp things had already moved ahead too far. :dunno:
Ah well, play it as it lays and hope things work out! :D

Re: Guardians of the Citadel OOC
#230Sorry to disappoint. I'm excitable, will wait longer next time :) -
Re: Guardians of the Citadel OOC
#231@ Multiclassing: yeah, the splitting thing kinda sucks. Delays your high level spells, kills your THACO, etc.
3rd edition clerics with the Magic domain actually count for example as wizards for the purpose of reading scrolls and using wands (1/2 cleric level = effective wizard level). Could I get Domains somehow? Quest? Wink wink? -

Alright, we can do something of the sort. What about...
level cleric (of specifically Morena)
3rd- ability to cast magic user spells from scrolls but never at the level of the scroll's creator, rather at the same level of cleric using scroll.
4th- +1 to all saves vs magic and all instant death saving throws
5th- ability to use rings and/or wands, rods, and staves, normally usable only by...
6th- +2 to all saves vs magic and all instant death saving throws
7th- can exchange any clerical spell spell (1/day per 3 levels of cleric) to that of any wizard spell of one level below. So a 4th level cleric spell can be exchanged for a fireball, lightning, etc (any 3rd level mu spell)
8th- +3 to all saves vs magic and all instant death saving throws
can be altered or added to ^ -

#234That novella was a fun read this morning. A few fascinating plot guesses that may or may not be correct ;) some amusing one-liners!!

Re: Guardians of the Citadel OOC
#237Gyma finally looks up from his book? :P
BTW, I have no clue how much XP I have. I thought I'd recorded it somewhere, but I can't find it. -
Re: Guardians of the Citadel OOC
#238Muro, what does Gyma know regarding guard company's reputation of honesty, both this specific company and companies in general? And yeah, other than whatever info you have regarding that Gyma doesn't really have a lot to say at this juncture.
Also, Gyma now has a 62% chance to cast a single sleep spell... I'm thinking my best bet here is trying to just learn a couple spells from the book and selling the rest to ye olde magick shoppe to get some scrolls of sleep to work around his inability to learn illusions/enchantments. -
Re: Guardians of the Citadel OOC
#239both this specific company
Well, actually not a whole lot, you're from across the seas (from that fancy France-like place :)) You do know that that's a *thing* in these parts, lots of swampy dangerous travel, so there are a few escort company outfits, mostly based in towns north of the Sluggard. GotC escort company is one of the better ones.
companies in general?
Most have sterling reputations, they have to, to stay in business.
Also, Gyma now has a 62% chance to cast...
C'mon, live a little! :D What about Geas? Summon Monster V? Woo? -
Re: Guardians of the Citadel OOC
#240C'mon, dracolisk, live a little. You'll be alone on Valentine's day if you a priori classify any hunk intruding into your bed as 'unwelcome'. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth.
