Re: somesortofgame
#9#4 and #7 sound the most intriuging to me,
Or some sort of something set in the Hard Way or All you Need is Kill game settings, those chars were a lot of fun after all. 8) -
Re: somesortofgame
#1012 and 14 look promising to me -
Re: somesortofgame

Re: somesortofgame
#12#15 and #19
If historical, something in the Bronze Age would be neat. Or even the Neolithic! Farming communities vs. nomadic tribes, struggles against the environment, the building of ancient monuments like Stonehenge and Göbekli Tepe... -
Re: somesortofgame
#1315 + 6 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vORsKyopHyM)
Dark Fantasy (GOT Dammit, or Thieves Word for that matter)
-
Re: somesortofgame
#144,7,12,14,6,6,15,19, Jasper Morello, GoT Dammit, and Thieves World.
Glad we have that settled :P -
Re: somesortofgame
#15The good news is that everyone loves your list. ;) -
Re: somesortofgame
#16I'm usually not one for forum rps, the pacing often drags and I find my attention and enthusiasm waning when the game goes days without a new post. Buuuut, Jenny sung high praise for the forum games of Muro. She even coerced me into reading the unfinished tales of Hardway and All You Need is Killers in an attempt to convince me they were different, and the pacing was such that multiple posts a day were sometimes the norm.
Having pondered and deliberated at length, I have decided to see for myself how fun they are, and decided to toss my :twocents: in the hat for the next game you run, whatever it may be. Looking at the list numbers, 13 and 4 strike the cord of thrill with me, but really I'll play anything, assuming this goes somewhere sometime soon anyway. -
Re: somesortofgame
#17Your fair warning is that the pace is generally fast, yes, but it also doesn't let up, and you never know quite when that flurry of activity will happen. There's been more than once where I was completely unable to keep up with just how fast the game was moving. -
Re: somesortofgame
#18Will try to slow it down a little Cm! Lol
Looks like we have a full house. Only thing left to do is pick a game... -
Re: somesortofgame
#19
Likewise. I'll readily admit I'm the first to fall behind in rapid-fire postings, but I'll endeavor to keep up.

Quan is still available for you to take back over in Echo's Hollens Prize game btw, just saying ;) -
Re: somesortofgame
#21I say Muro rolls a d20 in chat and then randomly picks whatever he feels like playing :P -
Re: somesortofgame
#22Yep, need to pick one. By end of weekend is the goal, then get going next week. -
Re: somesortofgame
#23
Seconded.
I say Muro rolls a d20 in chat and then randomly picks whatever he feels like playing :P

Re: somesortofgame
#24thought of something. How about each of you have 2 "characters". The first being *you*, the second a character you'd play in a fantasy role-playing game. Can explain further if needed. -
Re: somesortofgame
#25Recursive gaming? http://xkcd.com/244/
By "you" do you mean a representation of our meat selves? Or some other character to be? -
Re: somesortofgame
#26Not exactly. You're *you*, and I need you to create a typical fantasy sword and sorcery character *You'd* play in a real-life fantasy rpg.
(bwahaha) -
Re: somesortofgame
#27You mean write up ourselves as modern day characters?
If so, that should prove... Interesting. :P -
Re: somesortofgame
#28

(bwahaha)
... Wait, what? I'm already me. And if I create a typical fantasy character I'd play in an RPG, isn't that just... what we're doing anyway...?
Note this isn't a criticism, just a clarification question. I suspect you're operating on a higher plane than me. -
Re: somesortofgame
#29Muro referred to it as "breaking the fourth wall" in the cbox. Also, when I referenced a possible character's intelligence, he said something about my intelligence mattering more (uh-oh).
Two clues into the mind of madness :P -
Re: somesortofgame

Look not too deeply into the abyss!

Re: somesortofgame
#313rd or 4th wall, i forget which lol
I was dashing my head against the wall for rp inspiration, and then remembered that old series of books... Guardians of the Flame series by Joel Rosenberg, and was thinking of doing something like that. Maybe. What do you guys and gals think?
Basically, the series involved normal modern people pen-and-paper role-playing away at college, then hurtled into the fantasy world their gm created for the game, in the bodies of their characters....Etc etc etc -
Re: somesortofgame
#32So playing ourselves trapped in the bodies of a character we'd make for a roleplaying campaign. That sounds legitimately interesting. -
Re: somesortofgame
#33couldn't have said it better myself. And didn't. :P -
Re: somesortofgame
#34Okay, that's definitely different. I like it. -
Re: somesortofgame
#35In the books, the first few anyway, it was really interesting, because the "characters" started doing all kinds of unusual things in the world, that had nothing to do with "adventuring, slaying monsters, and grabbing treasure" (as you can imagine). A few of them immediately decided to "eradicate slavery" in their new fantasy world. Another guy began a gunpowder making operation, and kept getting all science-y. A third was just thrilled with his new body because he was a wheel-chair bound paraplegic in real life. That guy actually enjoyed the "adventuring" part. Etc... -
Re: somesortofgame
#36So in this game, we would be creating a "real world" character - a modern, 21st century gamer - and a fantasy character they'd play? -
Re: somesortofgame
#37You could, or you could pretend that *you* are that modern day gamer. And be yourself (in the body of your fantasy character) :) -
Re: somesortofgame
#38
I remember that series. Think I have one of them about somewhere.
Basically, open season to 'metagame' or attempt to do so. Wanting to invent gunpowder or other anachronism is something I remember players wanting to do in the '80s :)
College-age self is better than current-age self, since my motivations would be quite different.

Re: somesortofgame
#39I knew the premise sounded familiar, that was a good series. Just do not freak out and cast a fireball into your supply boxes and burn all the spell books
-
Re: somesortofgame
#40If I play a bard, does this character sing and dance as poorly as I? Do I know the songs? Etc.
