Guardians of the Citadel OOC

Re: somesortofgame
#41Fascinating question. I was just about to post something explaining that your characters physical attributes would be whatever you rolled up (str, con, dex, com?) but int and wis are your own. As to a bard's repertoire, hmmmmmmm. I'll get back to you. What are your thoughts on that?
Handling Clerics and their "gods" would prove interesting as well -
Re: somesortofgame
#42if I remember correctly then the players only had a slight inkling of their characters traits on the mental/personality side... the wizards knew how to cast magic and had spells that were memorized at the start of the game crawling in their head.
As for the sing a song, or worship a god portion it could be more along the lines of a repressed memory (it is there but takes extreme concentration or a jolt to bring it forward such as witnessing a divine miracle to remind the Cleric to worship their god once again to regain his magic) -
Re: Guardians of the Citadel
#43Guardians of the Citadel
Dozus-Wizard
Silveressa-Wizard (or Ranger)
Valadaar-Rogue
Scrasamax-
Lady Wolfe-Ranger (or Ranger's Wolf companion)
MysticMoon-
Might need something in the neighborhood of a...Paladin, fighter, dwarf, and/or cleric to round this out :D -
Re: Guardians of the Citadel
#44I'll run the Paladin, but rather than the straight up clad in silver armor paladin, I want to run something along the lines of a leather jacket/vest wearing Han Solo/Mal Reynolds/Most interesting man in the world Paladin, possibly a Paladin of Fharlanghn, the Dweller on the Horizon. -
Re: Guardians of the Citadel
#45Works for me. Every party should have a wise-cracking paladin. Remember though, with great paladinhood comes great lawful-goodness and heaps of moral responsibility :P
Will be interesting to see how you meta-game that. -

Legalese and convoluted rationalizing -
Re: Guardians of the Citadel
#47If there's a spot: dibs? :D
Also, if the answer is yes, I'm all for going cleric. -
Re: Guardians of the Citadel
#48Sure! But let's cap it at 7 pcs unless someone dies :P
I'll add you into the introduction tonight. Echomirage the young medical student, as the cleric. That works! -
Re: Guardians of the Citadel
#49Btw Carly (Lady Wolf) had the suggestion we all write up a couple paragraphs about "ourselves" for the rp since we're all "old college pals" it'll let us know a bit more about our friends from college and make rping being old friends a bit easier. (She;s at work or I;d have had her post this instead of pitching the idea in her stead.)
Also are we playing our (potentially younger) college aged versions of ourselves or our older (current day) versions attending a reunion of old friends?
-
Re: Guardians of the Citadel
#50a paragraph would be cool I guess. Up to you. Remember you're really just describing yourselves :)
I guess *what* you studied in college plus hobbies/interests/areas of knowledge and/or inter-relations between yourselves may be helpful too. Up to you.
Age: 1 year after graduation. So yes, college-aged versions of yourselves. No spouses, kids, etc...the world is your oyster.
You're having a 1 year reunion at val's Canadian home. :)
To recap:
Dozus- Wizard (Half-elf) (m)
Silveressa- Ranger (Half-elven?) (f)
Lady_Wolf- Dire-Wolf ("Lucky") (Dire-Wolf!) (m)
Scrasamax- Paladin (Han Mal Solo the Star-Lord :P) (Human) (m)
Valadaar- Rogue (Human?) (m)
MysticMoon- really beefy fighter (human) (m)
EchoMirage- cleric (elven) (f)
I'm going to squeeze Echo into the intro tonight, and we're almost off and running!
-
Re: Guardians of the Citadel
#51Well... technically, I graduated at 29 with a family in tow... but I can retcon myself if you like :P -
Re: Guardians of the Citadel
#52Interesting! Well, up to you! You can be your 29 yr old self if you like. -
Re: Guardians of the Citadel
#53I'd prefer a slightly modified version of my current 38 year old self if that works? (Will pm you the details) Back when I was college aged I was a lot less reserved and patient than I am these days :P -

Appearance:
Liantirie is tall and sinewy, with sharp, angular features, blue-grey eyes and a generous amount of freckles. Her carrot-red hair is tied back in a single braid that is usually wrapped in a cloth sleeve to avoid catching in the armor. Liantirie is pale; her eyes appear surrounded by pools of shadow, her lips a dark red. This is not surprising, given that she was rescued from an untimely death by a priest of Morena, the Keeper of the Dark.
On her back, she carries the tattoo of the initiates of Morena, a fractal pattern unique for each initiate, stitched by an oracle in a drug-induced trance. It is said to hold secrets of the acolyte's future and to describe his greatest gift. Most of the priests can agree that the tattoo's location is less than optimal for study, though.
Deity:
Morena is a goddess of death and magic, a harsh mistress with good intent. She calls for reward and punishment where it is due, and while she holds the key to many mysteries, she believes any access to them should be earned. Especially her priesthood is wary of the trials to which she subjects them.
Her priests are teachers, lorekeepers, judges and advisors; when questing, they often oppose trespassers against the natural order, or those who abuse magic against the rules woven by Morena into the Tapestry. Morena also opposes the forces of destruction, for she knows what is supposed to die, and when - and no sooner.
In legends, she sometimes plays the role of adversary to heroes who would cheat their fate, or bring back a dead loved one from the beyond.
Curiously, she's also seen as patron of fated love, protector of the yearning and those whose affection is unrequited, forbidden, or separated by distance and time.

Re: Guardians of the Citadel OOC
#62In the interests of being able to play as if we are all old college pals I thought it would be helpful to add in a paragraph or two about my self, given no one here aside from Silveressa really knows me (or I them) so rping as "old friends" is somewhat difficult for us.
Carly
Age: 27
Height: 5' 4"
Weight: 114 lbs
Likes: Animals, anime & science fiction, nachos with real cheese dip
Dislikes: Bullies, short deadlines, rap music
A small framed girl with a slightly mousey complexion, that is known to be quite shy when meeting new people, but very outgoing when in a online chat room or at the gaming table, especially once she gets in character.
In college she was one of the quiet nerds, studying to be a doctor and usually with her nose buried in a science fiction novel or medical text book. She was most often seen outside of class accompanied by her furred shadow Lucky, a 120lb German Shepherd she shares an (un)comfortably close relationship with, and often spoils rotten at every opportunity. While not the most outgoing person, she was known to be a trusted confidant to those she called friend, and often went out of her way to help them with problems as well as volunteering for various charities and activist groups on and around the campus.
After abruptly leaving (*cough* being kicked out of ) college for undisclosed reasons, her friends know she wound up in a slightly complicated relationship with Jenette and her girlfriend Rosella, moving in with them a few months ago and taking a job at a near by hospital as she earned her registered nursing certification, still staying in touch with her college pals via email and on facebook, until the opportunity for a reunion of old friends around the gaming table gave her the chance to reconnect and enjoy their favorite hobby.

Re: Guardians of the Citadel OOC
#65Housekeeping Alert!
Have to familiar-up Dozus' stats, and finish Scras' paladin. This is the time to make sure that all of your equipment, spells, skills, stats, and such are updated, official, and in good working order. -
Re: Guardians of the Citadel OOC
#66
Housekeeping Alert!
I vaguely recall there being "adventures kits" you could by for a few gold that came with a bunch of supplies (pup tent, bed roll, rope, canteen, week o rations etc.) for a lower price as a "kit" then buying them all individually? Any chance you know where a list of those are? -
Re: Guardians of the Citadel OOC
#67I guess all my gold is gone, since I spent it (and more!) getting spell components for the familiar ritual. -
Re: Guardians of the Citadel OOC
#68Posting equipment and proficiency updates soon! -
Re: Guardians of the Citadel OOC
#69Yess, Dozus, gold is gone, plus whatever the difference was between what you had left and 100 gp, someone else will have to bite the bullet and subtract that difference from their total. That's what friends are for. :treasure:
Sweet wolf pic, Wolf! -
Re: Guardians of the Citadel OOC
#70As Sil and Wolfie are taking care of the wounded dude, my question is - are there any other volunteer pincushions with insufficient pins? -
Re: Guardians of the Citadel OOC
#71I hate to do this, but I'm just not devoting the time to the game that it deserves, and it's moving faster than I can keep up with. I've got a lot on my plate right now, between the deadline for my writing, starting a gym membership (because I really want to get off the blood pressure meds) and trying to keep up with things I need to do in RL, like time with my wife, taking care of the horses, and the general list of chores.
I apologize, and I wish I could play.
:( -
Re: Guardians of the Citadel OOC
#72It's a shame to see you go, I really enjoyed gaming with you in the last few rp's, take heart, your fellow adventurers will avenge your untimely demise! :battleaxe: -
Re: Guardians of the Citadel OOC
#73I completely understand, Scras. The same thing happened to me the last time I joined a Muro game. Probably the first Cleric to survive in one of his games... my char abandoned the party to settled down on some tropical island and make babies. -
Re: Guardians of the Citadel OOC
#74Blah de de blah de de blah. Scras I love you but I knew you were quitting 5 mins after you joined (which was a 1 week ago) :P
We have an opening folks. -
Re: Guardians of the Citadel OOC
#75couple of questions
1st edition D&D?
How would the new character be brought in?
Can you work with a hectic schedule that may allow some days of only a single post? -
Re: Guardians of the Citadel OOC
#76Yessir (with some 2nd edition and a little, whatever makes sense, thrown in.) The players (Val :P) keep the system honest.
Good question. Will need to give that a wee bit of thought. Do you want to be like *them*, or an actual character in this fantasy world?
You're fine there. Once every 48 hours is fine too. As long as you're interested and posting.
When do you sleep? :P -

Due to the unfamiliarity of the players... I would say a native.
Interested. I have 3 days that are nearly nonstop work for 9 or 10 hours with limited breaks. This would allow me to post either morning or night once or twice a day. My drill schedule for the National Guard is fortunate in that Annual Training is over for at 8 months.
I tend to sleep between 3 or 4 am to 11 am
however I also know one of ther was looking at the game and expressed interest, so will give her a chance to respond... once she wakes up :D -
Re: Guardians of the Citadel OOC
#78FOUND
Not sure what you’re expecting from a bunch of 1st level men-at-arms but here you go…
34 pieces of silver, 40 pieces of copper, 2 masterwork daggers, several suits of undamaged plate mail armor (I’m guessing no one’s going to actually carry suits of armor?), several perfectly functioning crossbows and quarrels, a leather jerkin studded with several rough-cut garnets (22 gp value), a helm in the shape of a bear’s head (4 gp value), a small map of an unrecognizable area, perhaps the area you’re in, highlighted with a few castles called “Marlingspike”, “Coldmoat”, "Webhold", and “Stoneknock”, as well as a river named “The Sluggard”, and what looks like a giant swamp, labeled, “Soulmarsh Vast." A few towns, Blackton, Nebberdon, Yms, dot the northern portion of the map.
KILLED/DEFEATED
We'll say 14 men-at-arms combined. At an xp value of 15 each.
Also, Lucky retrieving one of Sil's arrows reminded me...
Arrows shot/lost:
Sil, 15
Echo, 12
-
Re: Guardians of the Citadel OOC
#79Well, a plate mail would be an upgrade of 1 AC point for me. If any of them fits me, then plated I am :D -
Re: Guardians of the Citadel OOC
#80Does the map mention the inn we stayed at anywhere?
