Re: 3.0 Bug Bounty Quest Bug Tracker
#201I don't think Cheka's HoH votes are refreshing each day. Maybe he is dishing out HoHs really fast and they aren't showing up on the main page... but it looks like his HohS haven't refreshed in a while. Could be a problem for all of our HoH votes, I don't know since I haven't given any out. -
Re: 3.0 Bug Bounty Quest Bug Tracker
#202100xp for Cheka
250xp for Pieh for pointing out the obvious problem -

#205Somebody tell me if the shoutbox and chatrooms are still bleeding over into each other. -
Re: 3.0 Bug Bounty Quest Bug Tracker
#206Re: shoutbox and chat (and forum icons)
I think the shoutbox and chatroom is still mixed up. Below is what I can see at the bottom of the page if I click on the I'm Newish link or any submission for that matter.
(16:46:22) VarrosAnon: Sorry for extremely late response
(04:37:04) patbak: why is the site so different
(04:37:14) VarrosAnon: It was redesigned.
(04:37:28) patbak: and why cant i see my favorites anymore
(04:37:52) VarrosAnon: You probably either have to find them, or they have been lost. I don't know exactly.
(04:38:47) patbak: oh dang. i looked on some pages and they didnt have the add to favorites button
(04:39:08) VarrosAnon: Possibly the feature was discontinued.
(04:39:24) patbak: oh well
(06:32:02) HordeBot: Ancient_Gamer 擲了 1d6 得到了 4 。
(06:53:50) Strolen: I thought you couldn't see the chat?
Btw, I can see icons and reply links at home but not the Quest pic (used to be able to see that as well but somehow the red x has cropped up in place of it a few days ago) and I have Windows XP at home as well but IE 6.0. Won't know abt how it is at work till tmr. -
Re: 3.0 Bug Bounty Quest Bug Tracker
#207[quote author=Strolen link=topic=4801.msg63990#msg63990 date=1243693962]
Voting issue fixed?
My Questions:
Valadaar, Moonlake : Still red x's on icons and missing reply button?
Unfortunately, the answer is still yes back at work. Actually, last time when you ask me abt OS and browser version, I forgot to say the Windows XP version I've got at work is 64 bit whereas my home version (the one w/o the red x and missing reply btn problem) might be the 24 bit one but I'm not sure (don't know how to check this). Could that be the difference b/w the 2? -
Re: 3.0 Bug Bounty Quest Bug Tracker
#208This is not actually a bug but rather a useability issue- on the main page of the forum, the link that says Strolen's Citadel doesn't go back to the Main page of the Citadel but goes again into the front page of the forum. So currently the only way for me to go back from forum to the main page is to click the back button from the browser. (I raised this before but maybe it was missed b/c I tend to report more than 1 thing at a time). I was uncertain whether it was a broken link before but I really think it was the wrong link b/c when I right click the link and open it in a new window, what loads up is the front page of the Forum. -

Re: 3.0 Bug Bounty Quest Bug Tracker
#211I added an HoH to http://strolen.com/viewing/Tomb_of_the_Prince_of_Ice but I don't think it's showing up in the Hall of Honor. -
Re: 3.0 Bug Bounty Quest Bug Tracker
#212http://strolen.com/viewing/5811 Voting on it and on other subbmissions in general is not working for me. -
Re: 3.0 Bug Bounty Quest Bug Tracker

I added an HoH to http://strolen.com/viewing/Tomb_of_the_Prince_of_Ice but I don't think it's showing up in the Hall of Honor.
Your HoH is there now. And with the Saltwater Lizardfolk, it's a Advice Requested and Strolen changed it back to unvotable again when Val pointed out that Advice Requested can be voted on. -
Re: 3.0 Bug Bounty Quest Bug Tracker
#214On the homepage, it seems the HoH's were not showing up. Had to change the time check.
100xp
Moonlake hit it on the head, the only subs that you can vote on now are the "Normal" submissions. I think that is appropriate, all the rest are in work. Thanks Moonlake.
((PS there is another forum theme available, it will change your Citadel theme into a non graphics version so beware. If you try it, let me know if you like the colors and we can develop a full site them around it)) -
Re: 3.0 Bug Bounty Quest Bug Tracker
#215Assuming that you mean this sort of dark-greenish one with the book (Angel Fall First), yes, it's quite nice. I prefer these colors to the standard - the pink just doesn't work for me.
I think that switching the New Message and No New Message graphics in the forum could be a good idea, though - the blue stands out much more than the brown.
I am also uncertain what you mean by no graphics, as they're all showing up quite nicely for me.
Incidentally, under the Plots drop-down, you have misspelled Coincidence. -
Re: 3.0 Bug Bounty Quest Bug Tracker
#216:) Just finished the theme update on the Main Citadel so your timing is excellent.
Your thought on the new messages makes sense to me. Will do that really quick. Thanks! -
Re: 3.0 Bug Bounty Quest Bug Tracker
#217Since you may not have noticed my editing it into my previous post, under the Plots drop-down, Coincidences is spelled incorrectly, and under the Articles drop-down, Scenario is. -
Re: 3.0 Bug Bounty Quest Bug Tracker
#218New Since Last Visit still doesn't work.
The sounds of the AJAX chat are very loud. -
Re: 3.0 Bug Bounty Quest Bug Tracker
#219Yeah, I might just be retarded, but I can't find a link in the main forum to the recent unread topics, a link I am quite fond of due to the fact that I don't live in the forums anymore... -
Re: 3.0 Bug Bounty Quest Bug Tracker
#220To the chatroom: I wanted to complain about the lack of a private channel, when I discovered one. Okay, got that. :)
But how do I get to see history, besides the last 10 or so posts? -
Re: 3.0 Bug Bounty Quest Bug Tracker
#221Fixed the autocomplete freetext. Small battle won. -
Re: 3.0 Bug Bounty Quest Bug Tracker
#222On the drop-down menu for NPCs only the links all read like this ...npc/none/...whatever...; making it mildly impossible to use the drop-down to quickly navigate to one of the npc categories. -
Re: 3.0 Bug Bounty Quest Bug Tracker
#223Okay, its official. I hate the Read Post Play section. Too much real estate dedicated to something with no immediate content. For an unregistered user, perhaps, but I'm tired of that screen.
Just like a submission Summary should grab the reader, the front page should as well.
Of course I can bookmark the All Recent link, but still..
-
Re: 3.0 Bug Bounty Quest Bug Tracker
#224I can accept that.
We have 2 options.
1) Make an alternate frontpage for logged on users. I would ask that you define what you want on it.
2) Allow each person to decide what page they want to redirect to when they hit home. In that case I would allow any strolen.com page.
((How is the recent page by the way? Any change requests for those)) -
Re: 3.0 Bug Bounty Quest Bug Tracker
#225I would love an alternate front page for logged-in users. Must include Recent Subs, Random Subs (a list of random from any category), Recently Commented, and a link to the forums. I also wouldn't mind seeing recent idea seeds show up somewhere, i think it's a good yet underused feature that we don't see around often enough. Also: Bring back the spellchecker on submission edit page!
Speaking of the submission edit page... It's freakin' huge! Can we turn the explanations into collapsible boxes again? and maybe not make the category selections so huge. I feel like I'm fumbling with one of those massive calculators for people with poor-sight and/or fat fingers.
Other than that, I think things are shaping up nicely. But I definatly agree with what Val said. -
Re: 3.0 Bug Bounty Quest Bug Tracker
#226Copy all.
(new ideas are on the recent page, left side at the bottom) -
Re: 3.0 Bug Bounty Quest Bug Tracker
#227Not really a bug, more of a request
We appear to have lost the Printer Friendly version
Has it not been implemented in this version?
If not, can we have it back please?
If it is present, can you please explain how to get it?
Always found that useful in the past -- I find it much easier to run a game from a printout
-
Re: 3.0 Bug Bounty Quest Bug Tracker
#228Seen it on and off, took a while to figure it out:
when unlogged, in Firefox, the User Submitted Ideas are underlined when you hover your mouse over them. Says Firebug:
a:hover {main.css (line 50)
text-decoration:underline;
}
Check it out, it's a fun one. Firebug rules.
Also, BH is not allowed to see Stubs, but should be. -
Re: 3.0 Bug Bounty Quest Bug Tracker
#229Not so much bugs, as complaints and suggestions:
Too much of the front page is dead space or gigantic text. Does the Read, Post, Play section really need to be so large I can read it on the other side of the room, and have to scroll the page both to the side and down to see all of the text? It's not like we are a Poor Eyeside website. Looks chunky, and a bit amateurish.
Same goes with putting in a new submission. I like the new formatting options, but again, the clickety section for filing things is morbidly obese. Can that be made smaller, or a seperate page like it used to be? I might break my mouse for all the scrolling I have to do just to get to what I want to look at.
Can we also do something to highlight the submissions on the main page? Crammed down at the bottom of the page they kinda remind me of a link/banner dump -
Re: 3.0 Bug Bounty Quest Bug Tracker
#230I know most avid users hate the homepage and it uselessness...but you have to understand, it is not for you, it is for those that have never been to the site. Look at it from somebody who accidentally wandered to the Citadel for the first time ever. It explains the site so they know exactly what to expect. It gives them some simple links depending on their mood to easily explore the site or learn more about it. If they are interested they scroll down and see that we have quests, there is a level system because some people got promoted, and possibly some recent HoH. Then a list of links at the bottom. Now that they know what the site is, they better understand what those links actually are.
I am certain I am nowhere close to what it should be, but the old homepage was a train wreck. It was a monster set of links that didn't do anything to help somebody new to the site. It bombarded them with 100s of links and no organization. The new homepage wants to help guide them while still allowing the old hands the crazy links in recent (and as we progress on the Task Pages, those will get better too depending on their focus).
http://www.useit.com/alertbox/20020512.html
http://blog.case.edu/webdev/2008/01/16/homepage.html
I could give you dozens of links describing sort of what we are going for. Yes, my design skills suck. I am trying to find ideas to make it more appealing....but it probably won't change a lot content-wise for the unregistered.
Just wanted to explain it as it seems it is quickly getting on people's nerves. I am happy to modify it so that logged in users get the ability to see an alternate homepage that is a bit more heavy and "useful" but it is still not going to be a monster link farm. I still don't want to scare away those that just registered and then their simple homepage has turned into a nightmare. That is why we have the recent page and such. I will add a link in the forum that goes to the Recent Page as that seems to be a heavily trafficked page.
Submission Page - Copy. I may get to that in a few hours and make that more petite. -
Re: 3.0 Bug Bounty Quest Bug Tracker
#231And that recent page was an experiment. If you have a dream page in mind, tell me what is on it and we can work on perfecting it and calling it whatever you want! All the data is there, I am just guessing on my own what to pull into it hoping it hits your appetite. If it doesn't, tell me what you are hungry for and I *can* make it! We could have a new menu and have a page for each user that tells me what they want on their dream page, I just want to have stuff available to you that allows you to view the site however you want. Help me, help you. :) -
Re: 3.0 Bug Bounty Quest Bug Tracker
#232Would it be possible to get summaries for recent posts back - you know, the little 1-2 sentence blurbs on the main page under each shown submission? I am generally more inclined to look at things when they catch my interest.
On a similar note, would it be possible to move the Latest Submissions up towards the top of the page? One of the things I've always liked about the Citadel was that, upon entering, you could get hit in the face with an awesome idea. In all honesty, I think that interesting stuff is more likely to draw in newbies than a description of the Citadel is. Chances are, if they've found the Citadel, they're probably already looking for RPG ideas, or something similar. -
Re: 3.0 Bug Bounty Quest Bug Tracker
#233I am just thrilled that we have moved from hardcore bugs into the layout of the site. That resounds as goodness in mine eyes.
Will mess with the homepage throughout the day today. -
Re: 3.0 Bug Bounty Quest Bug Tracker
#234Didn't know the old homepage was a trainwreck, I liked it
You're the boss, Strolen. -
Re: 3.0 Bug Bounty Quest Bug Tracker
#235Must say I don't like the background tile. Doesn't feel very well, but notice what it does on the Recent page: the grey 'X minutes ago' becomes very hard to read.
---
Cosmetic: '0 Unread PMs' should not be in bold. :) -
Re: 3.0 Bug Bounty Quest Bug Tracker
#236Experimenting. Will change.

very informational? So dont pass those up either?
Doesn't sound right (or sexy enough) :P -
Re: 3.0 Bug Bounty Quest Bug Tracker
#238The main page is starting to get there, still needs a little more contrast. Try taking the color from the box with our member info (name, hoh, votes) and putting that color in the "I am..." box. See what it looks like, I reckon it won't be bad. I also noticed an odd graphical issue: On the main page I can side-scroll to the right and there's nothing over there but blank white space. And I agree with Scras, I thought the old main page was perfect (at least for my needs and tastes). Well, that is most of my immediate thoughts, keep up the good work. -
Re: 3.0 Bug Bounty Quest Bug Tracker
#239I miss 2.0
but I am horrible with upgrades. -
Re: 3.0 Bug Bounty Quest Bug Tracker
#240On the most recent submissions list, Valadaar's The Library of All Knowledege and Wisdom sub came up twice but the link to it is broken i.e. if you link on either of the links, it takes you to the page where it says the link is eaten by a grue.
