#127If you get a chance, check out the sweet autocomplete in the submission page on freetext that manfred hooked up.
One issue about freetext is the fact that it can get out of hand and/or abused because nobody knows what is in there. So they just make their own with small variances. We are attempting to make the freetext more useful as an organizational tool vs. a toy.
So no freetext for anybody till level 3 (only 4 posts required)
Level 3, you can use only established freetext. Which makes the dropdown awesome since it tells you what is there by searching what you are typing
Level 5 you can make your own, original freetext. By then you understand the Citadel and what we are doing so you are trusted to not abuse the freetext.
Level 11 you can add the Task Page freetext. Which means if you have a post that could be used as an information post to be listed on a certain freetext, you can add that freetext to your sub and it will automatically be shown on the Task Page. Until then, just request an admin to add your sub to the Task Page if you think it would help others.

#133Not really a bug, just a minor graphical hiccup, but the closing part of the 'thingymawhat' beside the logout button doesn't finish itself prettily. The best way I can describe it is that it looks like it's missing it's closing bracket, the same problem next to the links for 'post new poll' and 'print.' -

#134Your are correct! And I am embarrassed to say I did it on purpose.
See, when I duplicated the forum theme, I redid the graphic colors (obviously) except for some reason the last button didn't have a button background but the edge was there. So, after 2 hours of messing with the damn thing, I found that if I deleted the end part the rest of the button background reappeared so you could at least read it. So that is the spot it ended up in. When I get a chance (probably after the 3.0 swapover) I will attempt to redo the theme again and fix that. Right now, however, it is a css anomaly that I can't figure out.

#1461. Once the drop-down menus on the top bar have been clicked on, they don't ever disappear again, which interferes with the reading of a submission. Also, it's very easy to accidentally to click on multiple drop-down menus. (Useability issue)
2. Potential bug- on the Post bug thread, the bar that allows you to reply doesn't load on every page. At first, I clicked onto the last page and tried to reply there but the bar doesn't load up (I also have problem seeing any of the pictures/icons on the site) there and then eventually it loads up on the 2nd page of the thread. And now that I opened up the thread in another tab of the browser, I can't see the bottom bar with the reply link on any of the pages on the thread?
3. I can't find where you change your profile settings. In particular, I was trying to check my language settings but that is not under Citadel Profile and when I clicked on Forum Profile, all I'm seeing is my profile but I can't see any button to modify it (possibly clicked to the fact that I can't see any icons?) -

For the menu drop down, they shouldn't be clickable for expanding, any click on them should take you to something. If you click on the main category, it should take you to that category. This link should take you to the part of your profile to change languages and some other stuff. On your profile, there are tabs that have drop downs off of them that give you quite a few options. "Profile Info" "Modify Profile" and "Actions"

#149I have no idea if this is a forum bug, if it's meant to be this way, or if it's a simple browser incompatibility. My password manager no longer recognizes that there is a login box on the forums.
I use Opera 9.60 on XP. If it's not a bug, can you let me know what it is? It's not urgent, but it's sort of annoying.
... And clearly I need to surf around the Citadel proper, I haven't in so long.
EDIT: Also, it annoyed me before and it still irritates me. When you look at the profile in the Citadel proper, it lists your forum signature and title and things like that. However, if you had html formatting in your signature, that doesn't register, and the tags are visible.
Also, the forum ate the special characters in my custom title (the copyright and reserved marks). First it added characters, then when I tried editing my profile (where the marks were intact in the edit box) it turned them both into question marks. Looks like it's doing the same thing to your sig, Strolen.
... I have NO idea if that fits the purpose of this thread. -

Signatures in Citadel proper. I run bbcode fixer against it, is there a sig where I am missing some formatting?
On yours, with the italics I changed your signature to be bbcode instead of html and now it works correctly in the Citadel.
My tm in my sig? Went in and updated them, not sure how they got corrupted though. -

I've got Windows XP here at work and for browser, I use Windows Internet Explorer 7.0.

The menu is identical on every page and I can't think of anything on the submission pages that would effect it.
The forum theme is very close from the threads at smf, but I am not sure when I will have time to troubleshoot that annoyance.

On IE 8 if I click on combatibility mode then the menus stay down after hover. Will investigate a bit on it.
Short term solution, hover over "Home" and the menus dissappear. -

The wand doesn't even notice when I log into the forum... haven't tried it Citadel side yet. I will. However, if it's working for you, it's probably just a compatibility issue on my end.
Personally, I think we have font gremils or something, because we had a major problem with a lot of text corruption last time we upgraded. I just deleted mine. *shrug* Yours looks fine now.
So the Citadel will recognize bb code but not html formatting? *looks* Yeah, it's formatted properly now.

#156I'm not sure whether this is a bug or something I screwed up myself, but a number of my recent subs have dropped off the Oceanic Quest submissions list: Manannan, Maskholm, 20 Seaport Businesses, Sign of the Violet Beaker, North Quay, Cathedral of the North Wind and Venturers' Guild Hall; three others are still up there with no problem. Is there some way I can reconnect these, and what is it that I did to screw it up, if indeed it was me who did it? -

#157A quick look at Cheka's The Many ( http://strolen.com/viewing/The_Many ) shows the hits to be 16777215, and I'm not sure but that looks incorrect. Not sure what could have caused it, and it seems to be an isolated incident, but it might be something to look into.
Also, The Many was a Quest submission and now is not. Looks like RGT isn't alone there. -

#158I know not why it happened, and I can't replicate it, but:
From the main page I used the Items drop-down to check on the melee weapons, and from there clicked on the Scissor Swords. I got an error instead of a submission. When I went back, everything was working perfectly. -

My insanely humble apologies. I am glad it was just the quest status that was lost and I think I found the culprit. It had an outdated permission on it but, from what I can tell, it shouldn't have allowed anybody access that shouldn't have access. But I updated that and hopefully that will fix it.
Very confusing that it was mostly RG's subs though. It bothers me greatly and I am very embarassed by that happened. Very sorry!
I went through and readded all those to the quests! Cheka's too. If there are more, post them here and they will get fixed.
Will scrub the code a bit over the next couple of days to see if I can pinpoint the hit count issue as well. My only thought on that is that it was submitted, then was edited again immediately. At that point, when you edit, I decrement the hit count so you don't get hits for editing it and being redirected back to it. If the hit count was at 0, it might spin it back to the max value and then it will stay there. Will look at that too.
Anybody else having forum graphics issues? Val, try clearing your cache perhaps? That should force a redownload and if I changed graphics...maybe that is what did it.
All this major explosion was supposed to happen on the weekend so I could spend a lot of time on it. ;)
Keep posting errors though, no matter how small or insignificant you may think they are. Will divy up XP for this last set once I do some work on it. Not a ton of time right now.
