I'm torn on this one. I'm actually somewhat afraid to say what I think on this one. It is large, well organized and reasonably well written, but it really has no spark.
Grr. I've had enough people jump down my throat when I offer feedback that it is hard to motivate myself to do it now.
Guess I'm just being a chicken here.

#924Well... We all know how it hurts, burns the soul, when obvious shortcomings in our own work is pointed out. I for one will readily admit that at least under one or two circumstances I was told the truth, and did not take it as a man.
Your chicken-ness is understandable. Vicious replies, even hatred and vengeance voting, can come from an honest reply.
But if we are not honest (honest feedback being a citadelian trademark) what then are we?
If you are honest, I shall enter the sub and be honest as well.
The only one I am not honest with anymore is Cheka Man. He tries so hard, and takes it personally when I am honest, and that is not what I intend. -

#925Anybody interested in something we have been talking about for a long time but I have never gotten around to it?
Looking to tier the admin type viewable forums a little bit to give some love to the long time visitors while not giving them full admin status.
I would want to take the Admin Forums and split them up a little bit so people like Cheka and some others that have been very active get a little love without giving them full admin.
So I wanted to do the following:
1. Review a couple dozen threads in the "Administrators" forum and break them out into a new forum. Maybe name it "Strolenati" or something. Have to be careful with those as we don't really say anything we wouldn't tell a person to their face...eventually, there may be things that are delicate. Split would be for Admins only till we all take a quick look and agree with those threads that will be revealed. We will retain "Administrators" obviously as it is now.
2. Release "Submission Discussion and Archive" after a quick review. That shouldn't be too difficult. Don't really use it anymore but somebody may have an idea. Either way, it is another revealing.
3. Can you all see the "Sacred Seal discussion" thread?
And if you can think of anything else to give them some recognition. There will need to be a new member group as well. All this would take a little magic and time but if somebody is interested in taking that on, I would definitely appreciate it.

I would like safe threads from the Administrators forum moved over there for Strolenati consumption.
Once everything moveable is over there, will create another group and update permissions.

#937Every spare moment is taken working on the house and getting it ready to rent and sleeping. Spent last week's spare moments powerwashing deck and fence and tortured my back today staining the deck.
Next couple days will finish the fence. Most paint and trim is done but enough little stuff to keep me entertained for weeks.
Will be in Italy Nov 9th!! -

#941Sort of love the use of the forums to put together the 30. I think I like each of the 30 as idea scrolls vs. a author credit, but am not going to complain. Fun to see daily logins in the 20s vs the 9-14 just a few weeks ago. -

Strolen, what about granting me co-author status by default, and people had to specifically un-author me?
It would be a kick-ass "feature", much better than most Microsoft "features"! -

#948Leaving for Italy tomorrow afternoon. Not sure how long I will be offline, if at all, but just in case they have no internet where I am staying I might be gone for a few days to a month or so. I get 10 days or so to find a house which shouldn't be that difficult. Depending on some of our household shipments we will move in ASAP. If we do that then who knows how long it will take to get internet hooked up.
Will bounce in as I can since I am completely addicted to this place, but if I am not around...you got the helm. -

#950Oh yeah, am in Italy now. Sitting in a rather comfortable billeting room. Two bedrooms with kitchen area so will survive. Many spend 30-60 days here. I expect to be here at least 30 days. Has broadband and I have my netbook so surviving well.
Been househunting for the past week. All housing here is on the Italian economy so have to have a translator/tour guide every time we go out looking at houses. Saw 4 so far, seeing another 4 today. We are about 10 minutes outside Pisa, maybe 15 minutes from the leaning tower of Pisa. Beaches are very close as well. Looking forward to seeing more of the area. Haven't been to Livorno yet but have been inland a bit looking at houses. Here are a few pics for those that care.

Also car shopping which hasn't gone too well. We don't get a translator for that so have to wing it. Hard to wheel and deal on a price when you don't know the language. Will probably end up paying sticker, oh well.
Am definitely around. The job is going to be very relaxing compared to my last. Should have plenty of time to edit ebooks at work...I hope. :) -

Painful couple of days, sorry about that. Server is running about 200MB lower as far as memory resources go so who knows what the hell I had running in that thing. I think the reinstall was well worth the pain, long run.
Biggest problem is that I lost llamanews.com. The database got corrupted on the move which sucks llama balls! -

I just found out that we are stuck in the hotel probably till the 18th. Grrr. Good news is that I found out I should be able to use Spotify since I am in Italy. :) Haven't tried it yet. Sort of useless on the netbook. -

2 weeks? I have been in this damn room since November 9th!! Found a house on Nov 18th and have been dealing with housing issues ever since. Latest is the shed had a roof with asbestos mixed into it so we are still waiting for that to be replaced. Hopefully be in the new house and settled before February.
So if you wondered why I haven't been super active, doing all this on a tiny netbook in an uncomfortable locations sucks!
