Re: Admin Chatter
#1001Silveressa is always around and seems to be the sort of "glue" this citadel needs. She also seems stable and like a really nice person.
I remember the honor I felt when first becoming an admin, and would most certainly wish the same upon her.
We need people like her as admins around here. -
Re: Admin Chatter
#1002Strongly in favor of Silveressa's adminship!
-Comments to be moved to ideas by the submission author. I know I am too chicken to throw ideas on a submission but if we are able to put them in a comment and the author likes them, he can boost it up into his submission. Still thinking that one through but I sort of like the idea.
Ooh, that's a cool one! -
Re: Admin Chatter
#1003I also agree to not disagree about Silveressa, I think it would be a good idea. -
Re: Admin Chatter
#1004I concur on her appointment :)

Re: Admin Chatter
#1005Gone for a couple days. Short trip to Aviano. Save the bugs for me!! -
Re: Admin Chatter
#1006Aviono airbase. The place 2 be. -
Re: Admin Chatter
#1007I am off base so I actually have internet. Not that I can do much with it but Hurray anyway. -
Re: Admin Chatter
#1008Back!!
Just for gee whiz. Talked to Moon the other night and he mentioned that Norton was still showing huge virus warnings on the website from when we were hacked last year. That is what drove the OS restart and all that other pain in the ass at the turn of the year. So we have been clean (and still are) since then.
So I jumped through all the crappy Norton hoops to register the site and prove that I owned it so they would do a rescan. Took them a full day but they scanned it and we are green.
Basically, for 6 months or so anybody with Norton installed got big old warnings that the site was infected by viruses and that they shouldn't visit it.
So starting a couple of days ago we will have mass mayhem....and increased spammage apparently now that we are safe again. :)

Re: Admin Chatter
#1009I am honestly dying to start working on the site. I gotz some ideaz. Mostly inline with what I posted in the other thread. Going to start with a quick review of the underlying code as I had some thoughts on optimizing. Going to swap to HTML5 as well and see if I can get that save crap working as well as some other things. I think we will be at 3.5 by the time I am done next week. :)
Scras, give me that posting bug you are having issues with. The chat lines gave me heartache that you are having issues with it. I try and fix those ones that affect core usability ASAP.
Finishing my final tomorrow and School's out forever!! Unfortunately I will have a promotion test in December which is a HUGE deal so learning ain't isn't over nun yet darnit. -
Re: Admin Chatter
#1010And by the way...my memory usage has gone down about 200MB ever since I took the shoutbox off the main pages. That is also why I am so excited. It frees me up to do some more queries to track all the fun stuff we have been wanted. Before I was rather nervous putting more load on the server. Happy dance! Cbox was the best couple bucks I spent on this site...that and offloading my email to google, which is a way cool free service as well. Was able to turn off all the spamassassin and email crap saving more CPU and RAM! -
Re: Admin Chatter
#1011HTML5?
So... make sure you test for browser incompatibility during your initial tests, ok?
HTML 5 is supposed to be bleeding edge. -
Re: Admin Chatter
#1012Not really. It is fully backward compatible and all the current browsers support it and have for awhile. It is the new thing but in terms of strictness, it is even more loose in terms of validation requirements. I will probably be more in standards after the switch. :)
Any of the crazy new features they have are basically used as add-ons. If I want to use an HTML5 thing, like local storage to save posts in case of a crash, then I just check for the ability through some javascript. If not, no loss.
Here is a quick primer off an ebook that lets you delve a bit more into it if you so desire. http://diveintohtml5.org/introduction.html
Should be painless and open up opportunities! -
Re: Admin Chatter
#1013boo!

#1015Yes, i am to be visited by vikings. :P

Any advice? -
Re: Admin Chatter
#1016Secure the beer, hide the pie....? -
Re: Admin Chatter
#1017Sharpen the d20's and stock up on coffee, there's gaming to be had! -
Re: Admin Chatter
#1018Vikings will make landfall soon. We need directions to The following: ale halls, nun convents (ranked by The looks of the nuns) and a patch of hallucinogenic funghi in Central Park. -
Re: Admin Chatter

Re: Admin Chatter
#1021Og noes you don't! Not before I've been to Tennessee! ;) -
Re: Admin Chatter
#1022On a totally different topic:
MysticMoon.
His "users online/active today" name is appearing in turquoise, is this a bug or some promotion we haven't gotten around to telling him about yet? :what: -
Re: Admin Chatter
#1023Seen it on other users before, like CP and EchoMirage. Always on very active non-admin users. -
Re: Admin Chatter
#1024I have been trying to find the colors and get rid of them. I made Mystic a mod of that board and the color changed then. Just have to hunt it down in the forum admin panel and change it to black.
I don't like colors.
Aside: If somebody wants to put together the quest voting, that would be good. I won't get to it till next weekend realistically. -
Re: Admin Chatter
#1025Passed Biology CLEP. Now officially done with my Computer Science BS requirements. Let the Llamas rejoice!!
This weekend I start breaking the site again. Next site hiatus will be in the fall. In December I have my promotion test which I will need to study my ass off for but a nice break for the rest of the summer! -
Re: Admin Chatter
#1026Glad to hear you passed congrads!
Any plans of what to enhance on the site next? (Being able to save subs as .pdf's would be nice ;) ) -
Re: Admin Chatter
#1027Gonna visit a friend in Oslo, then board a plane tomorrow.
I am actually quite anxious now. I haven't been able to get in touch with MJS for a month, no response on Facebook, Strolen's and sms/phone whatsoever, and I haven't been able to get in touch with Murometz for a week.
So now I am performing a leap of faith, as I will travel into the new world based on the promise of Strolenites.
But the promises of Strolenites are the stuff of legend, and not to be taken lightly, so I venture forth, ready to conquer, throw dice and meet excellent personas!
NYC HERE I COME! -

NYC HERE I COME!
When you get there give Muro a kick in the pants for Rosie, Scras, Kassy, and me, we've been waiting for about a week now for him to go on with his Hard Way game after he said "give me 24 hours." :P
In all seriousness, if you want I can give him a call and make sure he isn't tied up with some unexpected disaster before you fly all the way to NYC. 8) -
Re: Admin Chatter
#1029I am here, at some hotel, still bewildered by jetlag, wondering what I am gonna do until that Bogatyr shows up.
A kick in the pants, eh? Can do! What level of force do you want me to apply? :p
Oh well. Time to google up what to do for a day and an evening, with baggage in tow. ;)
Oh, and a million thanks for that Silveressa intervention the other day! -
Re: Admin Chatter
#1030Trying to reach you on phone...not working....sending you texts and they seem to be working (at least they are "going")...are you getting them?
Hang tight. I will be back from work late tonight and try to get in touch again...by tomorrow I'll be able to get you!!
Why baggage in tow? Levae it in hotel during your daily foray to the Apple Store -
Re: Admin Chatter
#1031A kick in the pants, eh? Can do! What level of force do you want me to apply? :P
Whatever level is required to get him back in the citadel more then once a week. ;)
Oh, and a million thanks for that Silveressa intervention the other day!
Anytime, it's what Friends/Strolenites are for!
Have a great time in NYC, and enjoy the gamage, I'm sure with Muro as GM it shall be legendary. 8) -
Re: Admin Chatter
#1032His GMing shall be the stuff that legends are made of, we shall all bow before him! ;) -
Re: Admin Chatter
#1033My GM'ing skills have eroded due to the constant stress of real life...maybe AG will GM, and I'll play a Hexenjaeger or something
All I know so far is, Sushi and Beer are on the menu. -
Re: Admin Chatter
#1034
My GM'ing skills have eroded due to the constant stress of real life.
I know how that can be, hopefully iy'd only a temporary set back, the death of Gming abilities is a loss to be mourned. (especially by those of us playing in your hard Way game  ) -
Re: Admin Chatter
#1035Your GMing skills may be eroding, Muro, but as we all know: It takes time to erode a mountain. ;) -
Re: Admin Chatter
#1036AG in New York Update:
Sushi turned into the world's greatest steak house, where oysters, buttery, giant porterhouses, and copious amounts of beer were consumed/imbibed.
Then he met the kids, and they thought he was a fairy tale giant.
Then, nap time.
Now, off to see Captain America. -
Re: Admin Chatter
#1037I must say I enjoyed the movie. We actually had sushi + sashimi afterwards, and I must say: Muro is a most excellent host. Now we are going somewhere called the Southern Bronx, and he is gonna put dollar bills on the outside of my tee shirt and I must run to Harlem. This is so exciting! :D -

That's the beginner way, the "real" pro's do it naked with hundred dollar bills taped to their bodies! -
Re: Admin Chatter
#1039This is pretty scary. All alone in M's house.
Are there ghosts here?
I think so.
