Re: Admin Chatter
#841Thanks to the skilled words of Dozus and Chaosmark, punk's cry has been answered. We should praise them. -
Re: Admin Chatter
#842Oh and: vote!
It is voting time and we should start considering the next Quest as well. -

[ + - ] ( 0 ) Don't do it A.R.
Every message board has its bully and you can't win. You can't make rhetorical points and ask them to be nice. They are the master of the board. I have trolled enough boards to know. This is his turf and if wants to imply that you are ignorant fool he can do so with impunity. The other members of the heard will not come to you aid otherwise he would have left long ago.
Just remember this:
winning an argument on the internet is like winning a race in the special olympics. Even if you win you are still retarded.
Let it go A.R. Let it go.

CAn we ceck this IP addy against our recent mass deleting friend? -
Re: Admin Chatter
#844Different address - check my prior post further down on our most recent reject.
173.24.134.94
Now, this tone of his is not in line with the site's intentions.
Though you might want to do some research before you assume a$$hole A is a$$hole C and accuse them of it. -
Re: Admin Chatter
#845I had a feeling they weren't the same person, NCN seems a bit older, a bit more jaded. However, he joined right when punkcasher started getting nutty, defended all of his 5-line subs vociferously, and poo-poo'ing everything else. There has to be some kind of connection there me thinks! :P
val is right though. NCN cannot keep leaving these types of comments, brazenly saying "fuck you, I joined just to tell you all, fuck you" Something has to give. -
Re: Admin Chatter
#846My mistake on the IP, I must of gotten something confused late last night as I was cutting and pasting IP addies. No accusation was installed.
The question we want to know is, He is a troll. He has an agenda. How are we going to approach this guy?
-
Re: Admin Chatter
#847Okay, but there are two issues here:
1. NCN's tone is a bit too much of a troll to be acceptable. If we agree on this, we send a 'please stop' PM. If he does not listen, we deal with it.
2. Axle has a point. Your own tone with comments such as "This is simple logic. If you had read the powers, you would of seen the ability to manipulate the minds around it." added fuel to the fire.
This stuff is not important enough to be taking that tone with anyone, regardless of how stupid their questions may sound. Your followup post later on is much better phrased and diplomatic in nature. This site has to remain friendly.

Re: Admin Chatter
#848Lets see what NCN posts/does over the next few days or weeks. Then we can make a swift decision. PM followed by other action if necessary. I second val in saying axlerowes kinda had a point, but Moon's latest replies are perfect!
so, yeah, i don't know what is next. I am however convinced that NCN is an a-s-s-hole with an agenda, and no one is going to convince me otherwise :) -
Re: Admin Chatter
#849Don't you use acid or fire to deal with trolls? I mean they do have regeneration.
Seriously though, I think the entire exchange got out of hand. Like Val said, there isn't anything here important enough to get upset over. -
Re: Admin Chatter
#850To round it up, I think Moon's last comments have neutralized that thread. (Not from NCN, mind you, but that discussion should be at peace for now.)
Let's see how he behaves. *starts innocently looking at the Torture scroll* -
Re: Admin Chatter
#851*peeks in?* -
Re: Admin Chatter
#852So, can we close down the voting for the current Quest and start deciding on the next one? -
Re: Admin Chatter
#853I second that as well. -
Re: Admin Chatter

Re: Admin Chatter
#855I don't have the time to run quests anymore. Someone else step up to the plate please. -
Re: Admin Chatter
#856Volunteers? -
Re: Admin Chatter
#857I would do it, but I'm not sure how to do it -
Re: Admin Chatter
#858Create the respective threads in the forums, that's all. First a thread to vote in for the next Quest, then a thread to announce it and keep attention (the two might be the same) and finally a thread to vote for the winner.
(Of course, once it is known what the Quest will be, it needs to be created, but I can take care of that - just supply me with the text and expiration date and I'll put it up. I can also mark the Quest winners.)
Deal? -

Re: Admin Chatter
#860Good-Bye Citadel :(
Summer is coming. Kids are older and require more (ok, all) of my time. Work is busy.
I have simply run out of time . -
Re: Admin Chatter
#861That's too bad, man. But family is more important.
See you around when come around. Try not to forget us, valiant Murometz. :) -
Re: Admin Chatter
#862Indeed we will - till later Muro! -
Re: Admin Chatter
#863FYI: we did have a little crash or two, but we are better now. When Strolen gets back home, he will be made to optimize the server (and work some on the security settings). -
Re: Admin Chatter
#865I'm trying manfred, i'm trying
no time...gaaaak. Bye again for now. -
Re: Admin Chatter
#866Scras: the winners of the last Quest will be marked of course... we just happen to have a teeny problem connecting to the right thingamabob that does it. You can't make this up. :) -
Re: Admin Chatter
#867Used the old template but it has been so long, not many may notice. :)
Quest announcement updated. XP updated. Didn't throw in the bold comment in the post yet.
Ditched the control panel server issues and downloaded the MySQL Query something or other to edit the database so bypassed (and maybe replaced) phpmyadmin.
As far as the graphic, get my attention with a PM or gmail and I will spin together a quick banner graphic.
Cheers. -
Re: Admin Chatter
#868Quest fully annotated in the Book of Strolen.
Will put together a banner tomorrow in the morning, hopefully for our "Oceanic Maritime Quest"
(or come up with a better title quick!!) -
Re: Admin Chatter
#869Seems the day of transition is approaching, the day, when all will change... and we shall tremble. And see what happens.
AG had this little idea of give a 12 or 24 hour warning in advance, 'cause it's "nice to know and all". :)
(This would be also one of the few moments that warrant a general notice to all members. That ought to be prepared as well.) -
Re: Admin Chatter
#870Agreed. Since it didn't happen this weekend it will have to be planned on my part too to give me the hours needed for the transition.
Memorial Day weekend might be a good goal.
Scras: Letting you set up the quest. No idea wording and such. Once that is started (and fixed so it shows-crappy quest submitting page) then will update the front page with it. -
Re: Admin Chatter
#871Been a busy day, should be able to do something on it tomorrow -
Re: Admin Chatter
#872The Citadel and the Sea
From Start date to end date
(Insert graphic)
The Oceans are vast and mysterious, givers of life and cruel destroyers. Men have plied the oceans in vast ships, explored it's depths, fought it monsters and given us epics of the Salt Road. Give us you submissions of the Oceans, your serenades of the Sea and all that which is nautical.
15XP for each submission with 100XP for 1st and 50XP for second. -
Re: Admin Chatter
#873Whatever format your heart desires.
You can do it in the quest submission thing-a-ma-jig or toss it in here. Mainly need the title, text, XP per sub, and guessing 100 and 50xp for 1 and 2 places.
Will throw the banner in there and call it good. -
Re: Admin Chatter
#874If you want to snag what I did in the last post in this thread and bannerize it, we should be good to go then. First quest of 3.0
Huzzah gentlemen -
Re: Admin Chatter
#875dammit to hell, my post was deleted because:
Sorry - you don't have the proper permissions to post spoilers
WTF? Okay, done there.
In responce to the conversation about spammers and whatnot, what if we have the forums require registration to use, leave the front page open and free for commenting? If you are a BH, you can look into a handful of the forum categories, maybe challenges, advice, etc, but the RP section and the others that draw spam flak can be closed to non-registered members.
I am a member over at ModelHorseBlab.com, and their forum charges a yearly $15 fee for full access to their forums, but limited access is free with basic registration just like us.

Re: Admin Chatter
#876Spoilers.. WTF?!?! I thought I gave all the groups permissions. Will relook at it.
Spammers.
I have no issue with locking down the RP from posting. I think I would rather it be visible to gather some searches for all the stuf that is in there though...but you can easily dissallow postings for certain people. We used to have players groups so only they could post in only their threads and gave those running it more freedom to edit and such in those areas.
Charging. I have no issue with that. ;) Forum actually has that capability now but I don't know how to use it. I don't think we are ready to charge yet. If we ever get a large community where we want to section off the annoying users from the real ones, then we can talk about charging a token fee to segregate the 2 different visitors. But now. Nah. Plus, I can still afford it. By the time we are charging, we will probably have V4.0 with some pretty snazzy features too. ;)\
If somebody is willing to brave the permissions and figure them out, they could use a spring cleaning and start from scratch. Would probably be good to delete all the current groups and rebuild them from scratch. If you don't have permissions to view the permissions/member groups then let me know. Anybody reading this thread has my full trust and has free reign to change ANY settings in the forum if you think it is an approvement. I am more than happy (and would be thrilled) if somebody wanted to take that on! There are many, many, many, many mods out there that you can install through the admin panel as well (careful of versioning as many are unsupported with the new RC1 forum) and if you wanted to experiment with that...I am all for it. (If there are errors on the install test - which is very obvious - let me know and I can do the hand upgrade.
Anyway, don't feel trapped with stuff the way it is. If you want to ban somebody, you can do it from their profile. If you want to change something, the admin panel has a good search feature. Explore and play with it!! If you run into issues, I can fix it. I am NOT worried AT ALL!
Was that a rant or a soap box? Either way, fini. -
Re: Admin Chatter
#877Scras, sorry about the banner by the way. Didn't have time to mess with the graphic and change it ( and still don't ) so left it as is. -
Re: Admin Chatter
#878Do not seem to have the ability to ban Mr. ddddyyyy.
-
Re: Admin Chatter
#879Ok, did the permissions walk. What a mess!?
Found that I was probably the only one that could see the shoutbox too. Hopefully that is visible to everybody as well now.
