It is a good looking ring. It is handsome and worth quite a bit.
Sometimes, when it is too hard to kill or kidnap someone who is investigating a cult and the person cannot be bribed to go away, some other way must be used.
This gold ring (sometimes a signet ring), within an hour of wearing it, causes lazyness. The wearer will be distracted from work (or any cause they believe in) by the slightest thing. He would much rather rest or enjoy him or herself. If ill, it makes the illness seem worse then it really is so the wearer will want bed rest for days beyond what is needed. It does not in fact make the illness worse in reality, at least, not directly.
After a few days, if the wearer tries to take the ring off, he/she will be too lazy to do so. The wearer will never become too lazy to eat or drink, but might easily lose his/her job.
Should someone take the ring off, for a few hours the wearer will be hyperactive.

'Who would make such a thing?'
Very nice! One could easily ruin a kingdom in this way by slipping it to the king.
I like it a lot. This is one of the most practical mind effecting items I have ever seen. A lot of potential, however an item like this should not be mentioned so casually I think. Keep in mind that the mental effect here is rather potent. This Item should be a bit rarer I think, but otherwise really good work on the Idea.
Also, If you do make it more rare, then you should definitely add a backstory. In fact, you should probably add in one anyway, you know, just about how some person put it on, and it caused their death or downfall.
brilliant!
I know people who own this ring and wear it with pride.
... This amuses me greatly.
This is truly a cursed item i whished i thought of it. Make it appear to be a beneficial ring, and many adventurerswill slip it on towards their doom.
Darn, I think I got it!
A simple but effective way to reduce opposition to be sure. A gentle item that could still see a lot of use.
Overall, I like the idea of this ring; it's subtle but oh so effective. I do think that one thing that could be considered is that if they wear the ring too long, it's effects may linger. Perhaps if it was on for, say, a year, then maybe once it is removed, they still have above average procrastinating tendencies once the hyperactivity period ends. On that note, maybe having it on too long could even cause some sort of bipolar disorder, switching regularly between lazy (and likely depressed) and hyperactive.
