Etherleaf
An interesting little idea I came up with. Also my first attempt at a 100 Word Challenge.
The villagers of an outlying settlement are brought news of a rare plant by one of their hunters/trappers. This plant, long since thought to have vanished forever, begins to crop up here and there. Mages and herbalists alike are trying hard to get their hands on good specimens and pay well. However, almost as soon as they reappeared, they're gone again, leaving no trace that they existed. It is up to the players to figure out what is going on, is this some strange will of nature? Are their darker forces at work? What is the secret of this plant?

A good 'springboard' plotling for DMs to jump from and expand for their own setting.
The 100 word subs seem to be a good cure of Mathom's grasp for you, Kasey!
Sounds like a faerie trick to me. But obviously the door is wide open.
These plants are obviously the attempt of a god to loosen the hold of the demons on this place. And some other, darker group has destroyed the plants, and have convinced the PCs to help get rid of the rest of the plants over the rest of the world.
Or something like that. Anyways, nice job with these weird plants. I'll bet the magi who pay well for the flowers are going to be slightly upset with people who sold it to them (cough cough PCs cough cough) when they disappear without a trace.
Thanks so much for the positive feedback guys :)
It doesn't give out a lot of detail. I know the format and all, but it feels like a real tease. Though I'm sure it can kickstart some ideas with what is there. We'll have to fill in the blanks simply.
Do the plants disappear after they are harvested, or only before they are picked? Aside from that tiny missing detail, I can see a bunch of places to go with this. Barring any sinister plans, my bet is that the plants are tied to some sort of cosmic event that occurs only every dozen years or so. Perhaps they need a certain kind of cosmic ray or energy to grow.
Interesting idea Dossta, a cosmic event could be a possible trigger.
As for the plants, they only disappear before they are picked.
Update: This submission was lost to the void. Re-uploaded 29/03/14. An error I can't fix is with the categories. I can change the Main category but the subs on all 'void' submissions are still Crisis - Single Storyline. Any help with changing this would be much appreciated.
solid 3.5 if I had any votes left, just a word or two about the plant more would score higher
A good one. Gets one's mind working, so perfect.
