The Peristeronic Ring

A fine brass ring adorned with the figures of pigeons and doves.

155 xp 2,316 views

This ring can summon any species of dove or pigeon or dove at the rate of one per minute, up to twenty per day. They can carry out simple orders or deliver a message to a specific place or person within 100 miles. If spooked or injured, they flee. The pigeons serve until they die or dismissed.

The user can summon an entire flock of pigeons which can obscure the wearer or carry out one order. This disables the ring for a month.

Finally, the wearer can transform into a dove or pigeon, once, for as long as they choose.

Hall of Honour

for The Peristeronic Ring

The Hall of Honour is your mark on a submission you believe is frick’n awesome — so good you would jump in front of a dragon’s breath to protect the scroll it is written on.

Bestowing HoH also highlights it on the front of the Citadel for about a day, so others see the recognition it earned.

You may bestow HoH on the same submission up to your level (with a short wait between strikes). Five distinct HoH voters raise a work to Golden.

And, if you like the taste of Pigeon or Dove, well, you'll never go hungry :)

    Other uses...

    1. Ever wanted to pass for a statue? Stand perfectly still and have some pigeons roost on you. Don't flinch if they poop on you.

    2. Since it could be *any* species of pigeon, how about giant pigeons? Like the ones from Korgoth of Barbaria :P

I like these unconventional magic items. Using them requires more creativity than say a wand of magic missile.

But you too Valadaar, double dipping in 100-word and Oekaki...

The simplicity of this is astounding. It's a quite powerful item, so I would tend to include a downside or two. Say, the pigeons keep returning to the summoner (maybe even if dismissed), so their cooing and pooping quickly becomes an issue.

Thank you very much valadaar for this inspiration. Just adapted your idea as a relic to one of the female saints in my world. It did fit perfectly!

    Cheers
