Candy-Soul Grenade
A tiny marble cherry with an amber heart inlaid. One of the Lolliful Avenger's most devastatingly effective weapons.
'Whenever a girl loses a bit of her soul because of a broken heart, having dreams shattered, or being abused, that bit drifts to the Lolliful Avenger. Who is a composite being of lost dreams and innocence, only angry.'
Description
A tiny marble cherry with an amber heart inlaid. When thrown toward the intended victim they explode, realeasing minuscule fragments of Soul Marble which then bury themselves into their flesh.
While they cause no physical harm, the psychological damage can be extreme.
The victim will be unlucky in love, and will whenenver he meets another person whom he/she desires will recall memories and feelings of any they have hurt emotionally, either by abandoning them, or through being unfaithful.
The Way Out
The only way to escape this curse is to be able to express romantic love or 'true' love for the person they intend to become one with, and this must last. Otherwise the curse will return and just as before, torment the affected soul.
Plot Hooks
- The PC's encounter the Lolliful Avenger and one (or more) of the party manages to upset/insult her. A Candy-Soul Grenade is thrown into their midst and one of the players is affected by the curse. (Preferably one in a relationship, or one whose romantic endeavors are not always good)
- The classic; an item found on or near a deceased body. Perhaps this person went insane because of the Cherry?

Ways a DM Can Stall an Adventure
Have you ever been in a position where you needed a quick break but your players were too ancy to break as well?
There will be a submission coming up soon about the 'Lolliful Avenger', which is why there is not much detail given here.
Credit must also be given to Echo and his.. thoughts? :P
An interesting item, but rather than being used against the PCs I can see this being used as a plot device, the Queen has been afflicted by a soul cherry and she's gone all Queen of Hearts on the kingdom. Alternately what could be a more devastating weapon against a highly chivalrous knight? Use inside a game group would require a good deal of maturity IMHO so. So I would use these with caution.
2.5/5 because it is not a bad idea but it's vague. Who made them, and to what purpose? How common are they, and how well known are they?
I agree with your vote for the most part.
I made this intentionally vague so that I could include more information to the main sub, when I finally get around to unveiling it.
Rarity/Availability is of course an issue that I can change and elaborate on.
Thanks Scras :)
A useful little item.
An interesting item, if a little thin on details.
I like the idea of a grenade that blows up emotions. And that the cure is also emotional. That's what sets this apart from being, say, just another anti-love potion. Because SURPRISE: grenade!
