#241Uhhhh! How did you figure it out Rei?
Crap! I just soiled pants! (if ya' know what I mean ) Thanks Scras! -
Re: Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 3
#242Gosh... that was scary [In the way I imagined it]
And I know that you didnt meant that I did figure it out? -
Re: Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 3
#243Okay Rei, either their is some typos in that last sentence or your just messing with my mind. Or maybe I'm just messing with my own mind. Either way your last sentence was confusing. -
Re: Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 3
#244..and it became in its power all that was good and the strength of it destroyed He Who Has Walked. Truth belies the falsehoods spread by the unfaithful as the height of the ascension of He Who Has Flown reaches the apex. Scholars labored in their halls trying to capture the power of what they saw into these writings and succeeded in capturing the Lost Wards of He Who Is All.
"Power will come to those that find me."
For years the original transcript has been sought in order to reveal the power of the Lost Wards that many believe are written in it. These wards will enlighten the world and give the faithful immortality. Wars have been fought and won in order to attain the lost, original transcript. Legends and Songs through the ages sing of the possibilities that these lost wards may offer to those that find them.
Finally, the original papyrus ledger has been located in the eastern mountains of Horus the Hun. The dry, brittle pages slowly revealed their secret...the ineptitude of He Who Transcribed The First Copy.
...labored in their halls trying to capture the power of what they saw into these writings and succeeded in capturing the Last Words of He Who Is All.
"Power will come to those that find me.".

X-BOX. -
Re: Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 3
#247Splinter Cell and subsequent sequels were good. Err, I guess that stays out of the 1st person shooter range... -

In the evening, floating in the soup
Fish heads, fish heads
Roly-poly fish heads
Fish heads, fish heads
Eat them up, yum!

They're not good dancers
They don't play drums
Fish heads, fish heads
Roly-poly fish heads
Fish heads, fish heads
Eat them up, yum!

Re: Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 3
#251That would've been the original. However, that and mine were developed seperately, a prime example of parallel evolution in fact. Mine came from watching that scene in James and the Giant Peach where his wonderful aunts give him a supper of fish heads. Me and my friends being cruel and sarcastic people went and made a song about it, while flicking a d20 back and forth over a table. (A rollie polyhedron)
Alternatively, it could be used as proof that if you lined up enough roadsigns and got enough drunk red necks together, you could indead find one of Shakespears sonnets written in braille. -
Re: Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 3
#252I have played some Saint's Row for XBox 360 recently. It seems that they have advanced from 1st person shooters to 3rd person shooters :p
XBox is a disappointment. There are way more cool games for my PS2. -
Re: Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 3
#253OK...... I know it turned out like that... But I dont know what it means... even thou I typed it... or did I?
As I can see... It turned out that someone left a turd on the backseat of my fathers car.... -
Re: Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 3
#254Alright, read a new copy of PSM last night and they had a huge article on Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. If this game is as awesome as they say it is then I think I am sold on buying a PS3. I think it is pretty cool because it has the size of a MMORPG (which I despize) without requiring online monthly fees and junk.
There was also an interesting article about Western vs. Eastern RPGs, and the article even gave props to Dungeons and Dragons and other table top pen and paper games that started the whole thing. In a nutshell it said that western RPGs tend to be open ended, with mroe personal freedom for the characters, and by far and large are PC based. Eastern RPGs tend to be heavily plot driven with predefined roles for the characters and are by far and large console based.
I guess I am in the middle since I am all but salivating to get my hands on FF12, but still ardently love those pen and paper games! -
Re: Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 3
#255I have played elder scrolls IV and it is a lot of fun though there are some things about it that are a bit unpolished, it's overall and awsome game.
the worse thing i have to say is that you can jump up on a rock and fire arrows at an enemy while they swing their little sword in vain trying to hit you. there's also interactive guilds like the thieves guild that gives you jobs and will clear your record. or if you kill somebody like a guard or npc the guild of assassins will visit you in the middle of the night and offer you a spot amongst their ranks. (i personally like being a filthy rich thief/assassin)
i've had so much fun just putzing around the world i really haven't advanced much in the story line. -
Re: Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 3
#256If I may change the subject, how come it seems like the new fad is to make extemely long posts? And if I may something else, I totally agree with you on the PS2 thing AG. -
Re: Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 3
#257It isn't a new fad. The original purpose of this thread was to have a place to confine our rants, lectures, insanities, and discussions that were so vaguely related to anything else going on that it made little sense to put them anywhere else. Read the whole thread, if you don't believe me. And there are those among us older members that would like this thread to go back to that. And if you call a paragraph or two an extrememly long post, then some of the older rants would shock you into submission. Anyway. I don't mind if you post one liners; just don't expect the rest of us to do the same.

As to video games... I am literally counting the days until FFXII comes out (as of now, 18 days, baby!) Of course, I am a die-hard Final Fantasy freak. Also, for those of you with PS2s (and I know you're out there...), [shameless plug] if you haven't at least checked out Okami yet... WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU?! It's got some gorgeous visuals, and the whole thing is based pretty much entirely (and more or less accurately) on Japanese mythology. From what I understand, it was PlayStation's answer to The Legend of Zelda series. As things of that nature go, while LoZ will always have a special place in my heart, I actually prefer Okami's battle system.[/shamless plug] Seriously, take a look at it; I want this game to have so much fan support they make another one. -
Re: Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 3
#258tick talk, tick talk, times up, sorry but it's too long...
quick! quick! somebody change the subject again!!!! :o -
Re: Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 3
#259Orangutans like oranges, which happen to be yummy. Also pretty high on the yummy scale is apples, especially after they've been fremented and then repeatedly had the water frozen out of them. Yummy cider. -
Re: Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 3
#260(begin back-in-the-day-all-encompassing-mind-blowing-rant) Well Strolen's Citidel used to have this wonderful feature that showed the average number of characters per post. I would at that time never dream of posting in something like free-word association because i was rather proud that my average post length was over 3,000 characters and therefore attempt to make some posts longer then they needed to be but with the freeform thread and my novelesque posts that i was rather proud of i was aiming for a staggering five throusand character average on my posts but sadly my dreams of grandure have been shattered due to the fact that I have no clue how to spell that damn word but then again I can't spell much of anything right anymore. I've even forgotten how to spell dictionary at times so i cannot look up how to spell things on dictionary.com i get some other site that's mearly a crappy search engine advertising thing with very little purpose except to trick all of the bad spellers out there into thinking that they're at the dictionary site so that when you try and search something it installs a bunch of adware on your computer and you end up staying up untill 3am trying to fix the darn thing because the vast amounts of adware has cluttered up your memory so badly that you cannot even finish writting a paper because you cannot have firefox AND word open at the same time or your whole computer will go sizzle sizzle like hamburger on the sidewalk in July. *twitch*
seems i've shorted out

Re: Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 3
#261Anyone ever noticed how awesome children's television is?
I was watching something that I believe is called "The upside down show," and it was AWESOME! I couldn't help thinking "Damn, I'd better tape this in case it gets cancelled and I need to raise kids, 'cause my offspring sure as hell wont be watching Dragon Tales!" -
Re: Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 3
#262the only thing that's going upside now is my cocky smile :( -
Re: Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 3
#263Uggghhhh! I hate Dragon Tales! Yes, I've had to watch because of younger relatives. -
Re: Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 3
#264Fraggle Rock was the BEST!!!! -
Re: Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 3
#265Gawd, I feel so bad for the kids these days. I mean, back in my day, we had real cartoons. Things like Ren and Stimpy, Rocko's Modern Life, and Angry Beavers. What do kids now-a-days have? Teen Titans, which from what I can figure out, is drawn by a team of pedifiles. I mean come on, at least I got to see some good wholesome violence, what do these kids get, a peek up Starfire's skirt. And she can't be older than 12... When those creeps that they keep busy drawning those shows finally get out of their holes, well the justice system with be hard pressed to keep up with them. -
Re: Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 3
#266I like "Under the Umbrella Tree" on chanel 7
...but then again, that show has been long since gone for quite some time. -
Re: Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 3
#267Lesse, I don't mind watching Teen Titans, and not just to ogle Starfire in her micro-mini skirt or Raven in her purple unitard. I thought that the entire Slade story arc was surprisingly well written, as was Raven's reunion with her father, some sort of strange astral/space demon who ate worlds.
As for Cartoons in general, I suppose I must date myself and mention watching things like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the first TV series, not this new artsy crap. Transformers, GI Joe, Thundercats, Jason and the Wheeled Warriors, etc etc etc.
I grew up to things such as:
AUTOBOTS! ROLL OUT!
Cowabunga dude!
...and Knowing is half the battle
Sword of Omens, give me sight beyond sight... -
Re: Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 3
#268Unfortunately kids now days are seduced to watching crappy japanese animation. I hate that stuff, but there are a few exceptions.
I used to catch Teen Titans every now and then when nothing was on, but I lost interest after a while, either that or I never had time to watch it. -
Re: Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 3
#269I would have time, but unfortunatley, I'm always here. -
Re: Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 3
#270Uh..... T-bone..... When you say crappy japanese animations...... I hope you werent thinking....
Coz I believe some.... no mostly of those japanese animation has 158% better stories than those cartoons. So I wouldnt say their crappy or somethin.... =_=" -
Re: Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 3
#271Originally the prime difference between western and eastern animation, respectively referred to as cartoons and anime from this point on, was the basis of the storyline. The traditional 'western' cartoon featured a static cast of characters and despite whatever events happened in the episode, the status quo was returned to within 22 minutes. This is pretty much basic for the majority of sitcoms, and many other programs on the air today. The anime style emphasised long story arcs and personal development, with things changing, often dramatically from episode to episode.
One side note, the majority of western cartoons were inked not in America but in Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, and several other asian countries.
Now the standard reaction is to say the storyline approach of anime is superior to the status quo of cartoons. I say this is a false reaction. Many of these storylines in anime are convoluted and often are derived from infantile social and sexual desires (The entire Sailor Moon bit, any of the animes with a single lead male and a dozen femmes who love only him and have no problem with each other, unless it is entertaining). Both genres/styles are capable of having bad writing, and both can have good writing.
I would honesty trade the entire mass of the Gundam series for a single episode of Wile. E. Coyote and the Roadrunner. Now in more recent times, the line between the two genres/styles has blurred, with western animation increasing in basic technical quality. Writing still remains questionable, the key variable.
Japan has an entirely different culture, sets of values, ideals, and even basic religion than in America. This can sometimes translate well, in the case of Evangelion being based on Japanese-alien Christianity, but being very normal to the average American viewer.
Meh.
I don't fragging care

Re: Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 3
#272I don't have a printer...
I was watching boomerang the other day wich is all old cartoon reruns (awsome channel)
I did see an old rerun of wonder twins the other day, i have to say that cartoon is pretty lame to watch, they always turn into wierd things, Zan was always some form of water (still contemplating why that character bothers to get out of bed in the morning) and Jeyna turns into some sort of animal, and not one that is good to turn into in the situation, just seems like some random animal that only helps a little.
ren and stimpy was great to watch again (somehow i still know all the episodes by heart)
Heman is a very ummm... interesting cartoon. don't watch it if you have the slightest bit of a dirty mind
I have so many bugs bunny cartoons cramming my harddrive
"Spear and magic helmet!"
and I have fraggle rock on my computer too. the one about "pulling your tail" is funny if you have a slightly dirty mind
-
Re: Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 3
#273I hate Evangelion.... Now I do think thats crappy..... -
Re: Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 3
#274Okay, upon further review I have decided that this line of thought has devolved into simple one-lined responses and Prime-foolery. So, without futher ado, I give you the greatest word of power that hath ever been... ni -
Re: Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 3
#275Pardon me, but did you just say...ni? -
Re: Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 3
#276I think he did....in very small print.... -
Re: Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 3
#277now now guys.... dont think that 1 line responses are prime fooly.... coz this thread started with those crazy 1 line responses right?
-
Re: Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 3
#278Actually, if one were to read the first score or two of pages (if one could read that much without one's mind blowing up in a bloody red explosion of brainy matter) you would find that though many of the responses are short, they are usually not merely one line responses to the last one line response, but in fact simple phrases that strove to find a deeper meaning in life, the multiverse, and all things yummy.
Such as sayings like:
"Vote orange soda for peace"
OR
"Pencils are pointy... water is wet... Woof... Woof... black is dark... free the gorillas... death to fireflies... rolling along... honk if you love fishing... where are my pants?"
-
Re: Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 3
#279Pariah speaks wisdom greater than any sea urchin could dream. It is not the length of the response but the depth that it holds. At first glance it may have no meaning but if you tattoo it on your arm and contemplate the ideas they will soon shine brighter than a quiche.
Do not allow these conversations divulge into meaningless chatter as that will defy the will of Cthulhu and he will demand a fish hook sacrifice. -
Re: Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 3
#280you now, I think that would be a better death sentence then leathal injection in the U.S. If the hooks were much bigger of corse
