You wouldn't be the first one to try. Like the fearsome hydra, for every head of nonsense you cut off, two more tails of inane pointlessness spring up in it's stead.

This is true, though the apocolyptic apocrypha assert there will be a time when all threads will be wholesome, and great wisdom will abound.  Unfortunately, these all come at the end of a great dark time, one that would span lifetimes, and devour the hearts and souls of children everywhere in their inanity.

If you should ever read this thread, in it's entirety, your understanding of the universe, the otherverse, the underverse and the ulterverse will expand to such a level that you would become a veritable god.

Or you would go stark raving eating the purple crayons and playing with invisible cats mad
  5. Re: Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 3

The second is much more likely. But if the first is even slightly possible, who wouldn't try?

    Mmmm, purple crayons...

Passion is the fire of a writer's soul. What other force could make someone so bold as to put their ideas into words onto paper and give them to others and say:

    Here. You. Read this.

Without passion, you write droll and boring things, like instruction manuals, telephone directories, and FAQ guides. this is not true writing, rather it is the crude translation of information from thought into words.

Fire burns in the veins. I am drunk and rambling, please forgive me. Fire, as I said, it burns in the veins. You think 'If I cannot put this to paper my brain shall boil from the heat and I will have a very bad hair day, and possibly die.

I've not been writing, but then again, my cholor has been weak, and the blood, it doesnt boil when I look at what I write.

    dammit all.

Fire cannot burn without fuel. A writer cannot write without passion. Passion needs inspiration, love for the craft and enough clarity of mind to shape the message you desire to convey.

If I may presume, or even if I may not: I think your passion has love for the craft and clarity of mind. I suspect you need inspiration.

Inspiration is out there. In the bars. In the Canadian wilderness (bring a gun). In the embrace of well endowed women. Inspiration is, as you put it, when you feel your blood boil. But you have to bring on some heat before anything will ever boil. Go to NYC and booze heavily with Murometz. It is a command.

Apparently the burner just went out, it's going again but it's a big tank to heat up.

The swamp will be boiling soon again. Who knows what horrors will be birthed forth from it's fetid depths?

Here's a thought. Next time your "boiler" is down, go read the subs of strolenites whose boilers are on. Instant inspiration.

    Oh, and mmm, booze.

  16. Re: Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 3

Are you planning to open a European chapter of Strolen's,AG? And if so, why would you hold it in the Sates, instead of in Europe itself? Of course, given the title of this particular board, I'm probably asking some rather asinine questions, aren't I?

I am going to host a third StrolenCon, but it will be on Mars.
  18. Re: Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 3

    #658
Ah, yes, NASAs satellites have indeed detected varying amounts of methane in the marsian atmosphere.

During Scrasamax third StrolenCon, on mars, I suspect the methane level will soar to unprecedented levels!

How much norris would Chuck Norris chuck if Chuck Norris could chuck Norris?
  20. Re: Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 3

All of it, and none of it. At the same time. It's like wave/particle duality, only with more roundhouse kicks.

Chuck Norris can divide by zero

The atom bomb was an attempt to create a weapon as powerful as a Chuck Norris roundhouse kick. It was obviously a failure

Chuck Norris's tears can cure cancer, except nothing can make him cry.

The Big Bang was caused by Chuck's first Roundhouse kick.

I am a tiny bit disappointed with the latest Hellboy movie by Guillermo del Toro.

Loved the fairy world and elves and Golden Army and all that, but that german... Nooo... I did not like him.

He wasn't quite as bad as  Jar Jar, but he definitely ruined part of the experience.

Watched Babylon AD too. I could have made it a lot better.

    The ending sucked.

    Film worth watching though.

Re: Babylon AD - The basic story was good. The screenplay was horrid. It could've been much, much better. Especially the ending. If they could just change that, the movie would be much, much better.

    Agreed.

You should go see "Mongol". http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0416044/

It is different than your run of the mill action movie, with lots of near documentary sections and a really long intro about Genghis Khan's childhood. But I loved it. Every second of it.

Real Programmers consider "what you see is what you get" to be just as
bad a concept in Text Editors as it is in women. No, the Real Programmer
wants a "you asked for it, you got it" text editor -- complicated,
    cryptic, powerful, unforgiving, dangerous.

Actually, I much prefer gedit over vim or emacs. Bleh. Those two are full of fail. I never understood just exactly why they became so popular.

I consider "What you see is what the editor built for you and you didn't even have to lift a finger" to be the ultimate concept.

Old time Disney movies. Stories for both kids and grown ups. Like the story of Peter Pan, on the surface a tale about Wendy and her siblings getting carried away by Peter Pan to a magical island full of adventure.

When you scratch the surface, the tale is about growing up, drugs and avoiding responsibility. Flying high on pixie dust to neverland where boys never grow up.

That is the true way to create a plot! Onion layered, multi-faceted beautiful craftsmanship!
