In otherer other news, since my comp didn't update itself to the new laws delaying DLS, in 4 hours my clock will finally be right.

In a completely random subject chaging move, it really isn't any fun biking 50 miles in 5 hours in 40 degree weather starting at 11:15 PM.

Yes, I know this from experience. Yes, I got lost on more than one occasion.
  3. Re: Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 3

Why... the hell... should one want to do such a thing?  Seems like something that should only be contemplated in desperation...

Well, if you don't believe in cars.
That sentence can and should be interpreted in two ways, minimum.

    Lith, you're weak... ;)

Back in my day we biked 50 miles to get to school, both ways.  In the snow, no less, and with a constant bombardment of shells from them damn Soviets trying to invade our beloved borders.  :D

Somewhere in the background I can hear Bing Crosby sing about how much he loves a white Christmas, and on some level I love this song, I know I do, but not so much right now. The snow is deep, I am alone and it is fifty miles to the next human being. I hope it is only 50 miles, I hope there are still survivors down the road and what has happened has only happened here in my home town. I dont think I could survive, or stay sane if...

I'm not weak, and I was extremely bored. And it was also at night. During the day, with alot more visable, it would have been easy, but being it was a moonless night, and the fact that coyotes, bobcats, and the occasional SKUNK (which me and my friend almost got sprayed by) made the trip a little worse, a little more dangerous, and hardly something I would have done alone without anything short of a 12 gauge shotgun and a handful of shells.

Yes, I live in a small redneck town (no disrespect to any possible rednecks reading), no, I'm not a redneck.

The shotgun would just be the easiest to get.

I know people who go and do that sort of thing for fun, they call it 'coon hunting.

Lord knows why a sane person would want to go hunting raccoons.
  9. Re: Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 3

    #529
I guess I'm not sane. I wonder if they chitter with fear or rage...
  10. Re: Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 3

Most of the time Raccoons are more than willing to leave people alone.

They are the primary carriers of rabies though, but that is more a function of numbers of raccoons living in proximity to humans.

A cornered raccoon is more than willing to tear a dog to pieces, most coon hunters use several dogs to 'tree' a 'coon' before they shoot it out of said tree.
  11. Re: Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 3

    #531
Yes, they do.  And, of course, their dogs start barking like mad, which naturally sends my dogs barking like the idiots they are all night, since the favored spot for the local coon hunters is in the woods that are near my house...

Sorry, what were we talking about again?
  12. Re: Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 3

We were talking about long bike rides in the middle of the night for no reason, and the subject got changed to hunting raccoons. I only wish I could remember the name of the book I read about a boy who got a couple of coon dogs, hunted coons for a while, and then a mountain lion (mabye a bobcat) killed one, and the other starved itself.

A good book in my opinion, at least it was when I was younger.

  16. Re: Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 3

There is nothing to get. It is just a silly stream of consciousness of various Strolenites, or something.

    Just random natter.
  17. Re: Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 3

    #537
And that is 'random' in the chaotic sense of things like weather and other such events - there are, no doubt, patterns which are followed, but they are inherently unpredictable.

There is no help for you.

My Godfather offered me his credit card right before the wedding. He said run...run as fast and as far as this will take you and never....come....back....

Your Godfather is a wise man!
  26. Re: Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 3

Thankfully, I need not this wisdom.

I've been single for nigh on three years, despite the best efforts of a couple of people, and plan to remain that way.

I would say that, but she won't let me.

Reply to AG: Don't worry, they tend to bounce back after the day.  Think of the engagement as a full moon, and your bride as a werewolf.  Once you are wed and the moon begins its new phase, she'll be freed from the lycanthropic curse.

Reply to DD: Seven.  The answer is seven.

randommy goodness: who saw the full lunar eclipse on the night of the 20-21st?
  32. Re: Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 3

    #552
Aye, dark one! I witnessed the anomaly.

Many of us gathered beneath the vanishing Moon and chanted to Cthulhu (for all of 15 minutes). Despite our passionate efforts, not even Shub-Niggurath showed up to wink at us. Finally, weakened by the cold, we went back inside.

    IA! CTHULHU NAFL'FHTAGN!

I have witnessed the furry of Cthulhu. He brought a fear into the forest near my lands and when I was driving my car he spurred a deer to sprint across the road and INTO the side of my car. There was furry everywhere. The deer fell dead, dead I tell you, dead and twitching. And then, through the power of Cthulhu, I saw it rise as proof of his mastery over life.

Frick'n Cthulhu cost me a $500 quarter panel.

I didn't even know there was an eclipse until after it was over...  Ria is sad.
  35. Re: Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 3

    #555
At least you didn't become a reverse werewolf, which is common under full moon eclipses.
  36. Re: Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 3

    #556
Eclipse? Such talk is blasphemous. The Sodality claims that talk of silly things like the sky, clouds, and stars is nonsense, much like 'going outside'. Everyone knows that that means you died.

Bah, you capitalists and your silly astronomy

Why do we intend to see things so paranormal like having our afternoons during midnights.
rather than that... fishes truly is a wonder... Why dont they drown? And why dont they blink or sumthin?
    this questions always baffles me...
  38. Re: Re: The Call of Captain-thulhu part 3

    #558
Ah, but it is an illusion. The fishes blink, they just don't dare to blink in your presence. And they drown, but they can hold their breath for a really long time.

I keep trying to tell Moon it is all about the fish. Ask Moon what he has against fish when you see him. ;)
