Freetext Friday

Re: Freetext Friday
#321No, I haven't retired, I'm just struggling to remain as reliable these days. This is just kind of slipping on my list of stuff to do on Fridays. I need to actually get back into writing my own submissions, too. That would help, I think.
I do really like the Digital Angel sub. Top notch.
For this week, let's do Amazon. Warrior women, babes from outer space, or perhaps women fighting on some more metaphorical battlefield. -
Re: Freetext Friday
#322Socks are a very unheroic article of clothing. I mean, there are legendary shirts and pants, and if you hunt about here, you'll find magic shoes, brassieres, hats, and so on. But socks seem under appreciated.
So let's do it! -
Re: Freetext Friday
#323Today is actually Friday. And our new freetext will be Witch. -

Re: Freetext Friday
#325I'm not sure I can actually see that one.
But for now, this next week, it's ogre time! Big, ugly, probably eat people. Or do they? -

Yep, broken link, Scras. -
Re: Freetext Friday
#327New freetext: black powder. Primitive firearms, explosives, rockets, and so on. -
Re: Freetext Friday
#328Holy smokes, Fridays have been slippin' me by! I'm a bit late for even this past Friday, but Chariot it is. -
Re: Freetext Friday
#329What's a great soldier without a snazzy Uniform? Whether stormtrooper armor, a red coat, a pickelhaube, or something else, the uniform makes the man. -
Re: Freetext Friday
#330We got one uniform (though I still need to comment on it). Now let ms move onto something that sounds similar but isn't: Unicorn. Mighty steeds, pure protectors of the forest, targets of hunts, where else can these fantastic beasts go? -
Re: Freetext Friday
#331Next up is Musician. Imagine the players at a king's feast, their exotic mentors and proteges, godly musicians or devilish fiddle-players, even pop stars or winners of the next big reality show. -
Re: Freetext Friday
#332Rocket. Space ships, missiles, Elton John - think what you like, but post rockets! -
Re: Freetext Friday
#333Herb is next. Medicinal or... otherwise. -
Re: Freetext Friday
#334Sage! An RPG staple. There have to be great places to go with wise, old men (or wise, old women). -
Re: Freetext Friday
#335I'm not doing so hot these days.
But let's keep going. Flower is our next freetext. This could be a legendary bloom for a noble lady, a carnivorous or soporific plant, a blossom associated with a specific land or title, a useful herb for an adventurer, a botanist type.... Suffice to say that I feel there are a lot of places to take this one. -
Re: Freetext Friday
#336The New Year is coming up, so let's do Time. Where to o with that one? There must be a ton of places.
Time travel, clocks, calendars, chrono-magic.... -

Time travel, clocks, calendars, chrono-magic....
Its just a step to the left, then jump to the ri-i-i-ight
Put your hands on your hips, and bring your knees in tiiight,
Its the pelvic thrust that really drives me insa-a-a-ane
Leta do the Time Warp again! -
Re: Freetext Friday
#338January is the first month of year and it starts with "J" and that rhymes with "A" and that stands for... A new freetext. Which will not start with "J" or "A" but will be Battleship.
Individual ships are cool, as are classes of ships (your Star Destroyers and Yamatos). Or heck, HMS Dreadnought is said to have rendered immediately obsolete all other battleships - give me your equivalent. Or the weird and unusual: Are there cyberspace battleships? Submarine battleships? Land battleships? -

How about a space folding flying city full of crazy ass inbred space royalty?

Re: Freetext Friday
#340I like it!
But it's past time to move on. This week, it's Gonzo. Not the muppet, but rather the craziest, most ridiculously over-the-top stuff possible. Katana-wielding, Hitler-punching chimpanzee motorcyclists in SPAAAAACE! -
Re: Freetext Friday
#341The most GONZO I got!!!!
https://strolen.com/viewing/8638 -
Re: Freetext Friday
#342That definitely fits. Good work!
For the upcoming week, let's do Barbarian. That could be guys like Conan and Thongor, more historical "barbarians" like Brennus or Attila, or something else I'm not considering. Barbarian priests or mages, perhaps. Alien barbarians. -
Re: Freetext Friday
#343And another entry! Excellent work!
Coming up is bishop. Ranking priests can be interesting people - their power may be very different from secular power, but there nonetheless. Or, perhaps in a fantasy or futuristic world, something different entirely. In the Middle Ages, some bishops were great warriors. How about mech pilots in the future or powerful sorcerers in other worlds? -
Re: Freetext Friday
#344Ok I put some effort into this one
https://strolen.com/viewing/8672 -
Re: Freetext Friday
#345Thumbs up on the continued submissions!
This next one is practically for Scras: Mecha. Giant robots, or perhaps golem mechs. Clockwork, steam-powered, futuristic - there are a lot of tech levels where this could work. -
Re: Freetext Friday
#346Next: Spider. Anything from arachnid pets to typical fantasy monsters to the horrible beasts that a real giant spider could be. -
Re: Freetext Friday
#347I've been watching Hammer Horror recently, so let's do Vampire. Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee optional. -
Re: Freetext Friday
#348You know what? The Crossbow is an under appreciated weapon. So that's our freetext this week. -
Re: Freetext Friday
#349This week, I present Battlefield. -
Re: Freetext Friday
#350Here's hoping that zombie is just the thing to get some people posting. -
Re: Freetext Friday
#351No luck there (and here I'm falling behind again). Let's try shield now. Could be a shield for a viking, a knight, or a mech. Or for something else. -
Re: Freetext Friday
#352Wow am I far behind. But let's move on to Knight. This could be a heroic armored knight of the middle ages, or perhaps a more modern sort of honorary knight, or even some kind of futuristic space-knight. Traditionally, knights were, well, knighted by nobles or king's or whathaveyou, but in a fantasy world, what if they were knighted by magic or monsters? What else might a knight of a world that never was look like? -
Re: Freetext Friday
#353What might the Phone of the fantastic past or distant future look like? How about a magic telephone? A salient telephone? -
Re: Freetext Friday
#354Boba Fett, Samus Aran, assorted others. I am, of course, talking about the humble bounty hunter. Medieval, modern, sci-fi... there are a lot of potential bounty hunter ideas out there. Even plots where the PCs are doing the bouny hunting. -
Re: Freetext Friday
#355Charlatans is next. The good old Harold Hills of the world. But what do these men and women look like in a world with magic or mechs? Spaceships? -
Re: Freetext Friday
#356Nature spirits are cool. I'm thinking of the Dryad. Whether the maiden of mythology or the terrible tree monster of Warhammer, or something else, these tree spirits will be going places this week. -
Re: Freetext Friday
#357Man am I doing badly at keeping these up. Well, let's try to keep going: Lightning is next. Weapons or spells that use lightning. Monsters made of it. Strange natural forms of the phenomenon. -
Re: Freetext Friday
#358Yeah! We got some lightning alright!
For the coming week, I'm thinking Drone. This could be a drone in our modern concept of the idea, or perhaps a magical or futuristic equivalent. -
Re: Freetext Friday
#359The Detective is often a protagonist in fiction, but not always. There are corrupt detectives, semi-capable romantic interests, mundanes in way over their head, and simply antagonists to criminal PC-types. So give me some of your detectives for this coming week. -
