Re: Back in the Day...
#281Bonus XP
50 XP for Keykold (for the walk down memory lane, providing the GM with twisted ideas ) -
Re: Back in the Day...
#282KILLED:
1 Ghast (homebrew ghast) 275 +10/hp xp. It had 29)
Bigbones (350 xp), Mingop (300 xp) Tib (200 xp) Hamako (200 xp)
TREASURE (XP! and your RICH!!...rich for low level types anyway :P)
There is still some RP to be had with Vorodon, but eventually you will get to the chests. :P

--(Huge)Chest #2 10 gold bars, (100 gp each) 40 silver bars (100 sp each), masterwork, metal buckler and shortsword (halfling weapons?), 324 loose sp’s, 213 loose gp’s, bronze helm, shaped in the form of a bear's head, gilded silver hand mirror (20 gp), foot long green-glass pegasus wrapped in yellow cloth (40 gp), mithril(!!) ring with onyx stone (100 gp)
Items Talia recognizes from Konos’ caravan:
6 “bolts” of fiery red brocades and silks (one of Konos’ specialty items), 3 woven gypsy rugs (10 gp each), a bandolier designed for holding many potions safely (it belonged to Kodos), 3 of the 12 vial “holsters” contain cylindrical bottle-glass tubes filled with liquids (one dusky blue, one white, one clear as water.) Holy symbols of oak and silver, gilded scrolls of prayers, brass thuribles, malachite censors, etc…totaling 4,000 gp value if sold!
--(Medium) Chest #4 filled completely with iron slag. Apparently Jervoe emptied the contents of this one, without his brother’s knowledge. Don’t bother looking for it, it could be ANYWHERE…Mingo would be quite angry if he knew!! (if he was alive, that is)
--There are certain treasures, such as the Empire’s stamped bars, and the church treasures, which PC’s such as Aerex and Tristan may be loathe to “sell”. Be careful :D
BUST OUT THE CALCULATORS, ITS TIME TO LEVEL UP!!!

Re: Back in the Day...
#283If Kadarin has not been ensorcelled by the crown, he's going to see if the Jellied magic user under the bed had a spellbook :)
-
Re: Back in the Day...
#284He did. Your spellbook in fact, which was still useless to him without Mouse's presence. But you dont know that. :P -
Re: Back in the Day...
#285Dibs on the following: :D
Masterwork repeating crossbow
gold clasped bolt case
prayer book of Ixia
Now all we need to do is get this somewhere safe and have our mage Identify the blue opal, the mithril ring, and that ghoul's iron crown. -
Re: Back in the Day...
#286Don't forget to Identify the silver-handled sickle  Moruz may want to keep it -
Re: Back in the Day...
#287It'll take a expensive gem (100gp) to identify, so we'll need magic detected first, and be selective onwhat you want identified.
-
Re: Back in the Day...
#288When (If?) we get back to town, and my blunt force trauma induced migraine is done, I'll detect magic. -
Re: Back in the Day...
#289Please excuse the excessively longness of this post, it's as much to help get all of the posts before it together for posterity/ease of doing this again as anything else. :shrugs:
http://www.strolen.com/guild/index.php?topic=3443.msg47817#msg47817

(67 gp total)

and 6 days' dried rations
Total cost for six people: 31 gp, 15 sp
Moruz gets:
1 pair Soft, Comfy Boots (He's getting decadent already!)
Needle and thread
2 Large Belt Pouches
Dagger
5 Iron Spikes
5 Torches
Total: 6 gp, 12 sp
Talia gets:
Studded Leather Armor (in the style favored in the Capitol these days)
3 Candles
Chalk
50’ rope
Total: 15 gp, 7 sp
Aerex gets:
4 pairs rusty old manacles (a donation from the guards he impressed)
Wooden Buckler
Total: 1 gp
Total: 66 gp, 14 sp
http://www.strolen.com/guild/index.php?topic=3443.msg48684#msg48684
Killed/Defeated: 10 ghouls (95 xp each w/hp). Dont forget 80 XP for two guards somewhat earlier, Pickles and Gren, (and their neclace: 8 silver, 3 gold pieces.)
Found: nothing! the ghouls had nothing. Except on one of them, Moruz finds a solid gold ball on a chain, the size of a quails' egg, hidden in the pocket of its shredded jerkin ! That must have been some wealthy halfling in life Very Happy (150 gp value). Another has what looks like a small jar of gray dust, tied to a leather belt, and hidden in its groin.
http://www.strolen.com/guild/index.php?topic=3443.msg48712#msg48712
Found: 73 sp, 48 gp, many mundane weapons and studded leather armors (on corpses). You find the body of Bassilinor too...at least you think you do...he looks like a dead illusionist Razz .....on him you find a 1)scroll 2) 3 garnets (30 gp each), and a wand.

You need to subtract 6 GP from your party hoard (if you have that much). That is what it cost you to settle the matter with the senior guardsman! (Who gave 3gp to Galivus Skreep, and kept 3 for himself
The stuff left back at the ambust point in the tunnel system, don't have a list of it to my knowlege...
http://www.strolen.com/guild/index.php?topic=3451.msg48570#msg48570
2 great clubs (studded), 1 morningstar, 2 iron-barbed spears, 1 banner-pike, 2 flindbars, 4 javelins, 3 suits of poorly crafted leather armor, 1 ritual scythe with a solid silver handle (!), 2 long-axes. (All weapons are on the “larger side”, good for big people.)
15 gp, 87 sp, one garnet earring (40 gp value or so), ritual silver bowl (20 gp value), a small statuette, carved of black iron, of Yeenoghu, revolting demon-god of the gnolls, 4 shrivelled, shrunken human heads in a sack, along with a sack of teeth (400-500 hundred of them at least!), one silver necklace (50 gp value or so)
http://www.strolen.com/guild/index.php?topic=3451.msg48645#msg48645
But the shaman was not brave. As soon as his ropes were cut, the wizened gnoll bolted toward the nearby Laurel Forest, his fellow captive, the Z'Kilughra, and any remorse for his cowardice forgotten, clutching only the black, hideous idol of Yeenoghu to his chest.
http://www.strolen.com/guild/index.php?topic=3451.msg48688#msg48688
Vee plucked the hemisa and circlet from Jervoe's head; still holding the gruesome trophy he presented the glass orb to the glass-shifter.
http://www.strolen.com/guild/index.php?topic=3451.msg48713#msg48713
(OOC - 48 GP, 73 SP, multiple swords of various quality, a scroll, a wand, and 3 garnets worth 30 GP each, plus the heads of Jervoe and Bassilinor, need to check back in Aerex's book for their GP value)
PLUS: Weapons picked off of the bodies of the most recent lot of bandits, and we must check to see if the smushed mage's head is salvagable...
I know this isn't a list, yet, but it's all the related posts. Will make a list out of it sometime soon. -
Re: Back in the Day...
#290Tristan will lay claim to all of the Triguian articles, which shouldn't be a problem with the others, as he's (most likely) the only one who respects their value. The prayer beads should be okay for him to keep as well, since I don't think there are any others who would want it...
Suggestion: everyone lay claim to what you wish to snag from the pile, that way we can get it all sorted out with a minimum of bickering.
Also, Mr. GM, can I get an expansion on the holy articles listed below, such as number (for the unnumbered) and what faiths they are involved in?
1) Onyx Prayer Beads
2) 16 relics/impliments of various faiths
3) Holy symbols of oak and silver
4) Gilded Prayer Scrolls
5) Brass Thuribles
6) Malachite Censers
Finally (yes, I know this is getting lengthy), I'll be gone for the next two days, until Tuesday afternoon, so 'tis a good thing we ended now. I assume there will be a 2-3 day break in the action? -
Re: Back in the Day...
#291So, monetary wise, before we start buying and selling anything we have 279 gp and 492 sp. If you need anything from town I suggest we start posting shopping lists. -
Re: Back in the Day...
#292Kadarin would like enough treasure to replace his lost gear and will identify items if the necessary gemstones are provided.
Since each identify is a day-long ritual, it will take a while.
Small price to pay for rescue :)
-
Re: Back in the Day...
#293Aerex calls the masterwork buckler and highly recommends turning the Imperial bars to the nearest registered treasury (who knows, there might be some reward). He'll let Tristan handle the religious goods, and Talia the gypsy loot.
And Aerex would happily purchase a masterwork shortbow and/or rapier, if some can be found. :D -
Re: Back in the Day...
#294Vee's Shopping list
Wanted Stuff
Some item to improve armor class as even light armors hinder rogue skills, a generic Item of Protection +X.
Oilskin Cloak - good for keeping dry in the rain, plus dark in color
Flask of liquor
-
Re: Back in the Day...
#295I'll try to get XP totals up tonight. -
Re: Back in the Day...
#296Back at the ambush point in the tunnels, there was:
2 or 3 (?) Dead Bandits and their arms/armor
1 Captured Bandit, sent on with the freed prisoners
3 Extra-Heavy Crossbows
Bolts for same
3 Crates (used as seats)
A barrel of whiskey (One was used to extracate Aeth from the Hood)
Wires and parts from the alarm trap.
I think that Pariah's list got everything else, but I am unclear about how many bandit heads could be recovered from their camp. -
Re: Back in the Day...
#297Just wanted to say I am really enjoying everyone's posts! Nice character exploration! XP bonuses coming tomorrow.
Just got home afer a long day and cant stay. I will lots of post stuff tomorrow. Just let me know exactly what you take, what you leave, how you carry it, where you plan on going, how you plan on travelling and all that other jazz, if you would.
Also need an XP count
Game rocks!
Chapter I has ended. -
Re: Back in the Day...
#298After a brief description of the 'loot' was shared with him, Moruz declared that he did not want to keep any of it - although when the situation with the ogre is resolved, he'll have a look over that pegasus to check out it's quality  -
Re: Back in the Day...
#299Ah, crud, I got distracted last night and forgot to do the XP totals. I'll post 'em when I get home tonight. -
Re: Back in the Day...
#300also on Mingo, you find a strange little lead foot pendant with little talons, scale mail shirt, and a broadsword.
On Bigbones you find a bardiche, on Tib, two flails and studded leather.
will post tonight. -
Re: Back in the Day...
#301Actually, I will post when you are ready to go, friendships have been forged, and you decide in game where you are going, and why you are going there (as a group that is).
Also 50 XP each to Aerex (Trial of the Century) and Vorodon(A new "voice" :D "Insecter") for the lively RP! Everyone's posts have been sublime! I'm Glad I gave you a breather from mortal combat! :P -
Re: Back in the Day...
#302Okay, here are the updated XP totals, not counting lootz.
Ria Hawk 1102
Scrasamax 1152
Shadoweagle 1152
Dozus 1152
Pariah 1102
Chaosmark 747
Valadaar 638
Wulfhere 336
-
Re: Back in the Day...
#303I have a quick question for the Identify spell, and I hope I'm not being a rules lawyer on this one. I read the spell from my copy of the PHB and nothing says that the 100 GP stone (my book specifies a pearl) is consumed in the casting. It seems to be a bit expensive to me, using a 100 GP stone to cast the spell one time. -
Re: Back in the Day...
#304This is a total of all the gp we've accumulated, based on Pariah's post. Someone with a handbook mind handling the equipment xp gains?
+67gp
-66gp, 14sp
+3gp, 8sp
+48gp, 73sp
+213gp, 324sp
-6gp
+15gp, 87sp
+48gp, 73sp
Total: 322gp, 551sp (yup, we're rich) -
Re: Back in the Day...
#305I agree Sacramax, which is why we need Detect Magic done first before we waste a Gem/Pearl.
In my own campaign, I allow any gemstone as a sacrafice, but the probability of success is reduced by % equal to the amount of gold piece value 'short changed'. Ie. a 20gp gem = 20% success,
-
Re: Back in the Day...
#306Vorodon could use a battle axe from the spoils and a warm cloak, size extra, extra, extra, extra large. -
Re: Back in the Day...
#307MAGICAL TREASURE!!!!!! :hyper:
+1 shortsword, masterwork (400 xp)
+1 small metal buckler, masterwork (250 xp)
The Opal is an Ioun Stone--+2 protection, when it is in effect. (400 xp)
Wand of Wonder (3 charges left) (6,000 xp!!)
Scroll--Protection from Plants (0 xp)
Lead Foot is a twist on the [Talon Trails] post by Strolen. It is called “Trail Talons”. It has little talons instead of nails. Every time you are on a road (and it has to be some kind of road for the magic to work—the item determines what is or isn’t a “road”) you can take twenty steps and travel twenty leagues. Each time this power is used, a talon falls off, so in essence it possesses 5 “charges”. (900 xp)
+1 Broadsword, Mingo’s (400 xp)
Jar of gray dust—Dust of Disappearance (2000 xp!)
Bear’s-head helm +1 (to head AC) (250 xp)
Necklace of Onyx prayer beads (2 of the 12 beads are magical) (500 xp)
1. Bead of Blessing (as the first level spell, usable 1/day)
2. Bead of Curing (cures disease, as spell, 1/week)
3 intact potions on Konos’ bandolier are as follows:
1. Potion of Healing (works once, cures 6-10 hp’s) (150 xp)
2. Potion of Water Breathing (300 xp)
3. “Wyvern’s Sting”, Contact Poison (if it touches flesh, victim saves at –2 or suffers 25 hp’s of damage. A successful save still doles out 10 points of damage) (0xp)
Okay, I will be nice, and simply charge you 500 gp for all the identifying to be subtracted from your eventual gp total. Now would be a good time to start counting gp and xp.
Also, it took Dujek and Kadarin three days to do this, so in the meantime you can all have your own little plotlings around town and the carnival!!
I am only one man, however :P, so I got to Aerex, Vorodon, Kadarin, and Dujek tonight. Tomorrow I cover everyone else. If you have recently posted a specific action (Talia, SE, Vee etc) you dont have to post yet. I will get to you folks on the morrow!!
Psst, CP, I think SE just chatted you up! :P
Psst, Echo, where for art thou?
-
Re: Back in the Day...
#308That is a healthy 11,550 GP value worth of magical items, split equally between the 8 members of the core party is a whopping 722 XP each! Of course this is assuming 1 XP per 2 GP of treasure recovered. This isn't counting XP for the gold found of course... -
Re: Back in the Day...
#309So... should I call dibs on that Ioun stone thingy? I don't even know what half of these things mean! :D
So, here's a bunch of newbie questions!
__________
What's a Wand of Wonder?
Is 100sp worth 1gp?
What's a dust of disappearance?
what's the significance of 'masterwork'?
__________
Note: That's XP, not GP Scras, so it's 11,550 split between 8 people, which is 1443 xp each.
Ria Hawk 1102 + 1443 = 2545
Scrasamax 1152 + 1443 = 2595
Shadoweagle 1152 + 1443 = 2595
Dozus 1152 + 1443 = 2595
Pariah 1102 + 1443 = 2545
Chaosmark 747 + 1443 = 2190
Valadaar 638 + 1443 = 2081
Wulfhere 336 + 1443 = 1779
So what was needed for each class to level, again?
Oh: And don't forget to Identify that silver-handled sickle sometime in those three days, Muro! -
Re: Back in the Day...
#310>What's a Wand of Wonder?
A random effect wand, everything from turing flesh to stone, to summoning flocks of butterflies. Not something to rely on...
>Is 100sp worth 1gp?
Normally, it is 10:1, not sure with this campaign
>What's a dust of disappearance?
Invisibility dust.
>what's the significance of 'masterwork'?
Generally +1 to hit and damage -
Re: Back in the Day...
#311Persoannally, I think those who cannot wear armor (i.e. the mages) should have dibs on the Ioun stone - Vee can wear leather, we can't.
Based on Dujeks' recent performance, AC bonus would be good for him :)
Wands generally are also a mage-only item, but that is GM ruleing. I'd be happy with the wand, 3 charges notwithstanding.
Also, the stone, when used, orbits around your head like a little planet - not a very subtle item for rogues :)
Prayer beads are typically a cleric item only, so who gets that one is obvious.
The dust of dissappearance should have multiple uses and would be a killer rogue/scout item.
-
Re: Back in the Day...
#312valadaar is correct in his sage assessments of the items.
One note, Dust of Disappearance affects inanimate objects, not people.
yes, that was xp, not gp, so SE's math is correct! (I guess :P)
silver to gold is indeed 10:1
And I do believe everyone gained a level. Will check it tonight, but mages need 2,500, fighters, clerics and rogues definitely broke through! Vorodon may be the only casualty ( :P), but then again the lovable half-ogre is not that far off. Kadarin being 2nd level already, is now gunning for 3rd!
Will be posting much more tonight!
Oh, and the sickle identifies as magical. It normally receives a +0, +0 bonus to hit and damage. However, against any elf (regardless of type), the sworn enemies of the Gray Impalers Gnoll tribe, the sickle is +2,+2 and does double damage on a natural 20 roll!
-
Re: Back in the Day...
#313So the mithral ring with the onxy stone is a simple piece of jewelry?
...mithril(!!) ring with onyx stone (100 gp) -
Re: Back in the Day...
#314So Vorodon gets to meet the beautiful blind girl? I'm having Ben Grimm flashbacks....
"Alright! It's Clobberin' Time!" -
Re: Back in the Day...
#315*is waiting for Jju.. Juju to respond to Talia* -
Re: Back in the Day...
#316--oh right, I dont have to post a Talia blurb, that's now Jjuldae's job. :P
--val, yes just a mithril and onyx ring. The first exclamation point was for the fact that it was mithril (a rare metal). The second exclamation point was because I'm excitable and always add one "!" too many :P
--Wulf, I was thinking more of Quasimodo and Esmerelda, but clobberin' time works too!
--will be posting later tonight!(!) -
Re: Back in the Day...
#317Juju must hereafter be CP's nickname.
On an unrelated note, did we ever decide what to do with the earthly remains of Aethelstan? -
Re: Back in the Day...
#318Well, if no-one is watching, you can make a gut zombie or whatever :)
-
Re: Back in the Day...
#319If ANYBODY brings Aeth back from beyond the grave, I'll be running him again...
(Cue sinister background music and crashing thunder, as I dig out the old Arkham House books....)
BwaaHaHaHa!
(Hmmm, Aeth the Gut Monster. I've never run one of THOSE!) -
Re: Back in the Day...
#320--no comment to above 8)
--Kadarin gets 50 XP for as fine a rendition of Identify as I've seen :)
--Gimme till midnight. Still writing. Will be covering Talia, Moruz, Jjuldae, Vee and a few others tonight.
--Echo is swamped with RL, and may be scarce for a few days
--Wulfy is missing the weekend
--Standing Orders for both will be in place.
--You will sell all your "stuff" successfully for whatever gp value I gave each item in paranthesis (to make things easier) Someone needs to start counting up total GP and total XP.
