Yes, Aethlstan can turn them back with the power of St. Senren.  Yes, also that will strain him too much.
  2. Re: Back in the Day...

    #242
I'm not 100% sure on this one, but I am pretty sure that Tristan and Aethelstan would be able to Turn/Rebuke undead as a basic ability of the Cleric class.

    (sounds of pages shuffling)

Mind you this is 2nd ed, and Muro is going old skool 1st ed on us, but the numbers have not been that far off. By my book, each cleric can make 1 attempt per encounter to turn or rebuke undead. For this ghoulery, the roll needs to be be a 16 or better...so pray to the Polyhedron!

(puts away the book and hides hands so Muro can't smack them)

--If anyone DOESNT want to move on to Chap. II, now is the time to speak up.

--Echo and CP, I will be introducing your characters all weekend.

    --Kadarin, take Dujek's scroll!!

--CM, if you would like to brainstorm on Tristan alteration, Sunday would be best! (if that works for you)

    --Knighthawk!

  4. Re: Back in the Day...

And do what with it?  There's a thing to hide away in an alternate universe if the battle goes bad, and one that puts something he kisses to sleep.  I don't think he wants to kiss one of the ghouls.
  5. Re: Back in the Day...

    #245
Sorry I've been kind of... meh, for a while.  I'm going to be that way for a while longer.  There's just some real life shit going on, and most of my energy is going to deal with that.  I'll keep posting and playing, it's just my rp probably won't really be up to standard.
  6. Re: Back in the Day...

    #246
No need to apologize. Hope all is well! Talia will still be here when you return.
  7. Re: Back in the Day...

    #247
    Sunday is fine. Afternoonish.
  8. Re: Back in the Day...

    #248
Killed/Defeated: 10 ghouls (95 xp each w/hp). Dont forget 80 XP for two guards somewhat earlier, Pickles and Gren, (and their neclace: 8 silver, 3 gold pieces.)

Found: nothing! the ghouls had nothing. Except on one of them, Moruz finds a solid gold ball on a chain, the size of a quails' egg, hidden in the pocket of its shredded jerkin ! That must have been some wealthy halfling in life :D (150 gp value). Another has what looks like a small jar of gray dust, tied to a leather belt, and hidden in its groin.

Oh and 50 XP bonus to each and every PC! You have persevered through much! (and its not even over yet )
  9. Re: Back in the Day...

    Glordren's Standing Orders!

Surprise Attack - Hide behind the shield, and strike those foes who come near, until he can evaluate where other foes (archers, for example, or backstabbers) may be concealed
Basic Attack - He will try to stagger the foe, bash him with the shield or swipe his weapon aside, following up with a hearty smash of his trusty mace.
Attack of Opportunity - "Yer kneecaps are at some dangerrr, you fake quarter!" Glordren will try to smash a knee or a groin (natural targets!) or deliver an enthusiastic blow to a shoulder, or the back of the head, if he can.
Injured - Will try to back up to a position where he can be attacked by fewer foes, fighting defensively (- to hit, + to AC), until his regeneration gets him out of the worst.
Injury - Will try to cover an injured ally by stepping between him and a foe, and allow for the wounded ally's escape. He will use the Cure Trivial Wounds Spell to stabilize a sorely wounded ally and stop bleeding (dude, it heals 1 hp!)
Special - if it is convenient, he will let foes live after crippling them, so that they can be interrogated and subjected to trial later (and so that they can divulge where they hoard their unlawfully amassed wealth of course!)

    Religion
    Diety - Emrissa The Golden
Position - Acolyte on a quest to prove himself and amass enough wealth to ask for the hand of a busty dwarf girl (grrrl!)

Kissing Ghouls, eh?  Think I'll pass on that, for now :)

I think the best thing to do with the scroll is to get it written into a spellbook when we get a chance.

  11. Re: Back in the Day...

    #251
Ah, a lawful good who likes to interrogate!  A man after my own heart! :D

Can we get an XP count?  I wonder if killing all those ghouls leveled anyone.
  12. Re: Back in the Day...

    #252
Good idea D! The rogues at least are nearing 2nd level. that I know!

    --Welcome Glordren!

--this weekend is the big finish! (of Chap I)

--Will be posting much stuff around  11-12pm-ish. (for anyone who is interested  :P)

--A BIG PC is coming!  :giant:

    --Cap Penguin is coming too!
  13. Re: Back in the Day...

    #253
Updated XP will come tonight, probably around 1 am Eastern Standard.
  14. Re: Back in the Day...

    #254
    Just a thought,

Is there such a thing on-line as "longest, single runnning RP thread" category? I think we could have a shot at an award or something eventually!

30 pages per Chapter or so...12 Chapters :D
  15. Re: Back in the Day...

    #255
You already have 12 chapters planned? :what:
  16. Re: Back in the Day...

    #256
I just finished writing 10 pages on Chap VI
  17. Re: Back in the Day...

    #257
Found: 73 sp, 48 gp, many mundane weapons and studded leather armors (on corpses). You find the body of Bassilinor too...at least you think you do...he looks like a dead illusionist :P .....on him you find a 1)scroll 2) 3 garnets (30 gp each), and a wand.

You find no one alive though..all dead...or fled.

    Its raining...hard.
  18. Re: Back in the Day...

    #258
oO  Ten pages on chapter 6... and we haven't even really finished chapter 1.  Holy cow.

Also, can someone (our illustrious quarter master, perhaps?) tally up our lootz since we went shopping?  I'm afraid I haven't kept up with it nearly as well as I should.
  19. Re: Back in the Day...

    #259
Aerex and Vee get *50 XP bonus each*
  20. Re: Back in the Day...

Among many tribes there are some babies born who are chosen at birth according to certain secret signs. These children are not sired by their parents. Instead, they are given over to the secret priesthood of the wilds, the Druids.

The Druids are the holders of the ancient lore, keepers of the Old Ways, from the dawn of time when mankind first lifted his head from apish slavery. They are those who hold the nameless and unspeakable rituals of past eons in the twilight. They are the keepers and supplicants of the Old Gods, whom it is better for the rest of mankind to forget.

The Druids (for whom there is no true official name- to themselves they are only "our brotherhood" and "keepers of the Old Ways") dwell in secret, apart from the much of the rest of mankind, sustaining and carrying on the Old Ways and rituals that the rest of mankind is beholden to forget. To many barbarian tribes, however, they send representatives, to function as priests for those peoples who have not made the choice of the stone city and the farming god; in this way, they pass on the Old Ways to the people of the wilds.

Jjuldae is one of these. A Druid and a student of the Old Ways, Jjuldae was once the priest and shaman of a tribe called the People of the Stone Soul. But alas, tragedy struck his beloved adopted people- a group of the settled folk came, and these settlers made war upon the People of the Stone Soul. All who would not be converted to the New Ways were destroyed. But not only was Jjuldae's adopted tribe lost. His honor, too, among the brotherhood of the Old Ways was lost, never to be regained, for the great disgrace of not dying with his tribe.

For this disgrace of not dying with his adopted tribe, Jjuldae has been cut off from the brotherhood of the Druids, left alone in the world. No matter what sacred grove or shadowed clearing or graven stela he goes to, no white-robed or black-feathered or body-painted brother will await him; the forests remain silent of the incantations of the Old Ways to his ears, and never again will his eyes behold the sight of silent convocations in the moonlight; never again will he behold the painted bodies of priests and priestesses as they dance in honor of the limitless Old Ones; never again will he be one with the Druid brotherhood.

Lost in the world, Jjuldae, disgraced Druid, wanders alone, keeping the Old Ways, praising the Old Gods (and why not? For, indeed, the truest way to see the Great Old Ones is in solitude) and shunning the roads of the settled people.

    Appearance
Jjuldae of the Crimson Throat wears the garb of a Druid acolyte- a long and draping black robe with a deep cowl. His head is shaven smooth; his face is skull like and emaciated (as, indeed, is his entire body). Were he to remove his robe, his entire body would be covered in swirling, spiralling tattooes and inscrutable signs of the Old Gods. Across his face, over his eyes and the bridge of his nose, he paints a red streak each morning just before sunrise; his throat, below his jawline, also is anointed with red. He wears a heavy cloak of bearskin and feathers over his shoulders, giving him an appearance (along with his shaven head) not unlike a huge vulture. He carries a long spear, bladed with beaten spiral-worked bronze. Tucked within his robes is a leather sack full of plants and herbs which he has harvested.
He is a cold, somewhat haughty man, who seems to display nothing but contempt for those around him. He wears high dignity and bold assurance of his knowledge and power around him like a cloak, and bears the knowledge that, in secret, everything that those around him pales before the soul-trembling lore of the Old Gods. However, he is easily worked into an explosive, fiery fury, and just below his chill surface boils a seething cauldron of menacing fanaticism and imperious anger. It is possible that his possession of the ancient and sinister secrets of mankind's true history, as well as many years alone in the wilderness (though the Druids are taught to love solitude), have awakened in him a spark of strange madness.
Jjuldae's skin is swart and olive-toned. He has thin, skull-like facial features, an aquiline nose, high cheekbones, and almond-shaped eyes which are wild and bright with a spark of cool madness. His voice is deep and resonant, with a slight accent that none can place.

Okay, this is the XP total I have, not counting any lootz gained since shopping; I don't know if SE's totals counted that.

    Ria Hawk 850
    Scrasamax 900
    Shadoweagle 950
    Dozus   900
    Pariah   850
    Chaosmark 495
    Valadaar 436
    Wulf (new char)  50
  24. Re: Back in the Day...

    #264
I'm gonna go with Ria's count, mainly due to the fact that it's higher :D

And everyone, what-say next time it's save (perhaps as soon as we clear out this cave) we pause in our journey so we can get Kadarin to identify these trinkets?

I mean, hell - we've had that opal thing since like... page 4, and we still don't know what the hell it is? It probably has a "Kill all ghouls in 500 meters" spell on it which can only be cast when you're level 1.
