   You missed my point.  The point was that the description was misleading.  Right now, everyone can do the same thing until level 11, when they get massive HoH votes.  Also, there is just some general inaccuracy between the description and the chart.  I couldn't care less about the actual progression, I just don't like being confused.  If you change it back to the way it was early, that fixes it, but rewriting the description fixes it too.

   As a side note to speculating on design, I tend to forget that the users will see different things where an admin sees them all - according to the user level and privileges.
   
   So on a comment, there is a username. There is also the XP thing. (Is voting on comments a privilege of its own? If yes, some members dol not have to see the +/- thing, only the XP gained per comment.)
   
   All can see the Reply link, poster and admins can see the Edit link. The comment link is again visible to everyone, the IP only to admins.
   
   
   Thinking of this, the interface won't be perhaps that clumsy - only if the user has the rights it gets bigger.

   To the other things: it seems the dust from the move has not only settled, it is already cleared in some places. The temporary measures can be slowly lifted, votes and HoHs can be different now. Confusion has to be removed.

   My point was that it is a temporary thing and I am too lazy to update everything every time I make a quick database change. It describes how it will be in the near future as we slowly get back to the way things were when it was designed. I am willing to deal with a little confusion. The descriptions get the point across even though they don't exactly match the chart, and the chart spells it out pretty clear on the actual progression and benefits of each level as far as numbers go.
   
   It is in the 2.1 checklist to rewrite the explained page and all that will be sorted out when I get to that point. I do see what you are saying though, but I have to prioritize my time and I can't rewrite that page every time I make a quick mechanics change...especially when we still don't know how it is all going to end up.

   Let me just spout some thoughts really quick and forgive me if they are blunt as I am sick, hacking, family is in town and don't have but a couple minutes.
   
   New ideas: LOVE THEM, but.....
   
   For the time being I am going to, not ignore them, but not give them the attention I usually would. Why? Becuase my list for v2.1 is already too long. So any new ideas like the cool icons, which I am all for, I am going to let you discuss if you like and decide how and what you want to give them out for. I will read it, but I find much of my time is reading, thinking, replying which isn't getting anything already on the list any closer to getting done. Does that make sense.
   
   So, my preference would be for you to make a new thread maybe starting with the icons and do your talking there. Use the other threads we have for continued bug reports and discussion on fixing the current features and I will concentrate on buttoning up the current feature list and actually get stuff done. I will still read them and reply but it will be easier for me to separate what I need to be working on vs. what I want to be working on.
   
   I don't want to dampen the ideas, but I am starting to get spread thin. The site, in its current state, still needs a lot of work.

    It happens on the database transition and it *is* an encoding issue but it cannot be remedied the way it was created because it would lose all the new submissions obviously. The problem is finding out what the encoding malfunction was. I noticed on some of the comments that I tried to fix, when it is in the edit box the quotes turn out just fine, but submitting them they go back to the crappy wierd figures. It is an enigma.
    
    First on my list is getting the graphics working. Then I will try and fix the encoding.

    Yes, editing works fine. My thing was that when it looked goofy and I tried to edit it, the edit box showed the quotes correctly. I retyped the quotes (that looked fine in the edit box) and they showed up in the comment correct then. Just a weird browser encoding goof.

    Two questions.  First of all, I remember when I wandered off, the modded freeform forum (yeesh, say that five times fast) was set up so that I had to actually give people write permissions to post there.  It doesn't seem to be that way now; at least, a couple of people I said could post were able to do so without me doing anything.  I actually don't have a setting or option to do that sort of thing anymore, at least, not that I could find.  Has policy changed, or do I just police the forum, deleting anything from anyone who doesn't have permission, or am I missing something?
    
    Secondly, am I the only one who thinks that "On This Day In History" thread needs to get moved from News to the Tavern or Inane Natter?

    1) You are right, that is they way it was and when I moved from phpbb to smf all the permissions got screwed so I had to redo them all. I think until it becomes an issue we can leave it the way it is. If at any point you feel we need to go back to the permissions thing then just go to town, it is all yours. I will check the permissions and see what kind of access you have and make sure you can mess with it. Count on that this weekend.
    
    2) Yeah, you are probably right. I think I will move it.

    I apparently do not have mod/admin abilities on the Citadel proper.  I can't see the Challeneged Submissions section, although I do have the link to challenge things.  Also, when I was given the link to the submissions in question, I had the links to vote on the challenge, although I don't know if they worked or not.  I don't know of anything else that I'm supposed to be able to do, but, then, if I don't have those abilities, I guess I wouldn't.  Are these abilities tied to the level we have in the Citadel (I am level 6...)  All of my admin powers work fine on the forum.  I really have no idea what's going on.
    
    *EDIT*  I think I'm also supposed to be able to vote on Golden Submissions, but if this isn't something in the admin forum that I'm just missing, I can't do that either.

    Yes, the permissions you had were tied to the level. You now have full admin rights in the main Citadel. There will be an admin link and that is where the challenge is tracked.

    All three are different IPs. Dark Lord behaved quite well actually (all things considered). The two others might be proxies of his, but hey, we can't prove that.

    The user "phuck you strolen" was unlisted in the logs, so there was definitely something fishy about him. I did as DL suggested and booted him to kingdom come. I won't let people use such names, besides he was unwilling to change his name.

    I changed his visible name to --banned-- because if I change his username then it sends an email with a new password and such.
    
    Not sure how he got on again....new IP I suppose and maybe need to update the ban name in the forum.

    The guy is pretty darn pigheaded and fails to understand the point. His posts are at least intelligent and he isn't reverting to name calling. Big kudos to him on that one, hopefully he sticks around and sees "the light."
