#441I flagged chills so that he cannot submit a normal submission. An admun *must* update the status of his submissions in order it to go anywhere. I tend to just throw them into "In Work- Public" if they deserve even that. -

#443I messed with the codices today as has been suggested. The codices are huge and they take a lot of scrolling on some. Now they only show the first 2500 characters with the click thing to reveal the rest. Did the same with the scrolls for those codices.
Any thoughts on it?
(will try and find a function to split it on the word instead of splitting up words like it will now) -

#444Question/possible suggestion: Is it possible to make the submission page do a sort of 'save current progress' thing whenever the page is interrupted/improperly completed/completed but interrupted so it doesn't actually post?
For example, is it possible to program in something so that if I'm midway through a submission, then I accidentally press the 'back' button (thusly losing all the content i've done) I can just press a link and it will take me to where I was up to?
I've lost more submission that way: Just doing something silly like accidentally pressing the back button, or closing the wrong window. And then there's factors such as losing connection, and when the server screws up; e.g. you get an error page when you click submit, and then all your content is lost (Which just happened to me :'( )
Anyway. I don't know if such a thing is possible/easy, but it would be nice if there was a way (apart from saving my post externally every 5 lines) to retrieve your lost progress.
And Don't give me the whole "Write it up in wordpad" thing :D I'm a strange man, and I always tend to think up things better when i'm putting it in the format given by the citadel. Besides; you would think a place which deals in submitting things as the citadel does would have a self-sustained work area, without forcing people to write in a different program. -

Looking around it is a widely discussed problem. Wordpress has a fix and will look and see if I can hack it.

Yep, the splitting ought to be nicer - otherwise this is a neat addition that we needed. With scrolls, how about displaying the number of scroll entries? I know it is already written elsewhere, but just for the niceness - View Scrolls ( 8 ) or something. Oh, and let people know about it in some thread suited for it. -

Had a gaming session this weekend. It was mighty fine! A slow friday was relieved by an ecstatic saturday. Perhaps I will even release the plot "Winter moon over Ahrsend-Baden" on this site. It really struck home ;) -

#450I have a question. This is November, meaning that things are gearing up for Christmas. Would it be out of line for me to post a link to a charity website? It's actually run by and supported by gamers (of which we are theoretically a subset). The idea is that people are donating money, toys, and video games to children's hospitals. I'm just not sure if it counts as a spam post, and given how many spammers we get, I don't want to add to it. -

#453Tricky business... I sure don't object to charity, but don't want to be flooded by spammers, even if they appear to be asking for a noble cause. But I do have an idea:
The bottom of the page in the main Citadel contains already a little button for donating to the site (plus some not very exciting debug info). How about making it the space for a singular chosen charity supported by the Citadel? So if/when there is one special charity that we have approved, it'll be there. There could the obligatory post into News & Announcements as well; plus, if desired and on-time, a note on the main page.
What do you think, Strolen? You decide on this matter, as it comes close to actual advertising, which we do not want around here. -

#455Advertising, even for a nice charity, is something I don't want to get into either. Somebody brings up a charity, then somebody else suggests another, and another, and then some people ask why we are supporting this charity and not that one and then and then. It happened to one of our nonprofit clubs in Japan and it is better for my sanity if people just donate how they see fit and not necessarily use this site as sounding board for the different places to do it.
No offense obviously. We donate quite a bit and spend a lot of time volunteering and raising money, but I just don't want that on the site for those reasons and probably more that would come out if we put it up.

But seriously I talked to this kid, and BTW he has more baggage than Amtrak, and just tried to keep him to the subject of his submissions. It seems that he is trying to work some things out through his writing, which isnt a bad thing. The problem is that he is burying it under a heap of material ripped from Final Fantasy 10 but when comments are made, he reacts as if they are criticisms against his emotional subject, rather that the figurative subject.
Aside: would someone politely inform him that I am quite married, since I will be offline until sometime Tuesday.
