#284Something happened. More precisely:
Today at 10:03:58 AM Michael Jotne Slayer - the server was down for 40 minutes and I lost a great deal of a sub, boho :(
Confirming that the server seemed to be really down; ping was possible though. -

#286I made a couple modifications to the my.cnf to see if I can manage those dead zones better. I think it happens when we get spiked by google and such and I have the settings too high so it keeps accepting and creating child processes till it dies because they are all stalled instead of rejecting those it can't handle.....or something like that. -

#288Are you sure you exist? How can you be sure? If you are sure are you really really sure? Computers are pretty smart nowadays and I wouldn't just idly cast aside one of their observations....
This is definitely a bug that I told manfred I would fix last weekend....I may have lied, or at least didn't tell the truth as I didn't get to it. I have a couple bugs to attack this weekend and I hope I have the time for it.
Sorry about the error with it val, I will put it on my short list of obligations this weekend and try to get to it. -

For some of these I am just going to have to say V3 as the fix because they are so darn wierd. Haven't had a chance to look into this one yet but I am hoping a site polish will make most everything a happier shinier place to live. :) -

#294Um, on the main page, the Golden Submissions and the Random Submissions sections seem to be empty, and it says my XP is 0 (which it damn well shouldn't be). It also looked like some of the images were missing. I don't know if it's just something on my end or not, but it's annoying and a bit disturbing.
Edit: Also, I've been getting Database Errors when I try to do forum posts today. -

#300Strolen worked his magic, and things seem to be more stable once again. And there was much rejoicing!
In other news, the "Updated" comments are useful for something now - so if you update a sub in an important way, you can really use the Update Note field on the bottom of the page. The submission will pop up on Newest 20 Comments and related pages. -

#302I was looking at the current quest. Siren posted an entry for it, and when you look at the sub, it shows that it's part of the Winter quest. However, if you look at the quest screen, it shows that there are no entries. Also, Winter doesn't appear on the total quest listing. I don't know if this is the way it's supposed to work, but it's confusing. -

#305Fixed. Database input issues when it gets submitted. Still have to fix that otherwise every quest still needs to be updated in the database to show up.
PS. Did we mean to have the winter quest as 125XP bonus per submission? :) -

I was looking at the "who is online" list and noticed Dozus:

So I clicked on Izverg, curious as to what the sub was about, but it had not been published yet. I got the usual "doesn't exist" error, but also the sql error at the top of the page showed up. -

The suggested submissions are many times multiplied here. I actually noticed this bug earlier somewhere else; there were two suggested subs duplicated, so I have removed one, at which point both vanished. :shock:
But now we have a much better example, so let's see what causes it, and whether it is only a displaying glitch or really multiplied entries. -

#312Muro, do you remember refreshing a lot on that page?
They are inputted in the database. If I input one and refresh, it adds a second. I think I missed the check that didn't allow this. If there is one I didn't dig very deep for it, just added another.
I tried to put in a test but it is not foolproof...but won't tell you the fool that is unproofed.
You still lose all of them by deleting one, but in any case that should be appropriate as you don't want to have to delete them one at a time. Just readd it after that. -

#315Sorry, just catching up to this thread now.
Strolen, 1. No, i dont think every sub should get 125 xp for Quest :) and 2. I didnt refresh even once. I did keep going back and forth from the sub, after finding the suggested subs and linking them.
I'm guessing that nothing I just said helps in any way :P

#317When you went back, maybe it kept the POST action and resent it everytime. Not sure you would get a warning about reposting data either. That might be it. Either way, it shouldn't happen again but there are still some duplicates out there I am sure. I did dig through them last night and cleared out quite a few.
Whole issue is entirely my fault, it shouldn't have accepted duplicates. -
