V2.2+ Official Bug/Polish Thread
#1Bugs and such are spread all over so will start using this #1 post to collect them all into one place.
Bugs:
The parsing of HTML links is a little weird... see http://www.strolen.com/content.php?node=2221#11719
Polishing:
Hidden submissions, if having multiple authors (co-owners), should be visible to them, not only to the original poster.
Having to clean up plenty of special characters, I got finally fed up with them - for how long will they plague us yet? If there is no way to kill them in the database, then we need a search engine able to locate them buggers. A sample few: â?‚??€œ?‚??„? - if there's more let us know.
Citadel explained
- title, spellcheck, and a lot more... has time later, needs a re-work
After voting+commenting, you learn in one place (on the top of the page) of the + to XP, in another about the vote itself (in comment space). Could be put together. Additionall un-niceness: after you delete a vote, you get the note that you deleted it, fine, as the -3 XP message.
1. After that, you cannot vote. The page must be reloaded first.
2. If you wanted to delete an empty comment with a vote, the comment stays (still with the vote icon, though there is no vote anymore), so you must delete it again, both times with -XP.
Both are not that important. 1) could be solved by simply a different message "Vote has been deleted, you can vote again after refreshing the page." or the like.
Chat: forum part of the chat accepts and uses html tags, the Citadel part doesn't (there's more differences , like censoring, and the occassional smiley ;) ).
-What would be nice would be a way to change the type of submission, as demon-strated () by my submission of Demons as unique lifeforms. Apart from deletion/recreation, I can't see how to correct the issue.
-I was wondering. Is tehre a way to get a "New Comment" or "New Submission" icon on the submissions that have new posts in them? I understand that the site pupolates the top twenty, but I know for a fact yeterday with me commenting on twenty five submissions, with three other people commenting at the same time. There were new comments that I never saw and never will because some of them went below the top 20.
a) Perhaps go directly to the comment if it is a new comment
b) Identify all new for you until they are viewed
c) Have some sort of new identificating icon or something on it to confirm that it is indeed new
-oh yeah, and the awesomeness of the puke smiley doesnt work in the main chat or flash chat. Instead we get :p uke

I want to have the diffenent categories and subcategories included in the freetext links. Not because I feel our freetext cloud needs to be bigger, but because it'd be what makes this next part really nifty.
I also want to be able to click on one freetext in the cloud, and see not only the subs that have this freetext, but also the freetexts that share subs with this freetext. An example...
manfred's Worlds and Planets is a "Location" a "World" and an "Any," it also had the tags "Space" and "Science Fiction."* Now, I'm looking for a "Location" in "Space" so I click on one of those two freetexts in the cloud, and then on the other one when I get to the first one's list, so now I'm looking at all the submissions that share 2 things now, as well as any freetexts that submissions that share those two have as well. Right now, under those two, the only things my dreampage would list would be the tags "World," "Any," and "Science Fiction".
I picked that particular sub to provide an easy example of what I wanted, but it'd also work for other things as well, such as with our "Swamp" subcategory, which is shared by 3 different categories; Locations, Lifeforms, and Dungeons. If I just wanted to look at the different stuff we have that's swamp related I could click on the "Swamp" tag in the freetext cloud and be teleported to a nifty list of all 36 different submissions that have that subcategory/tag.
*These two freetexts should probably be merged, being as there seems to be a noticable overlap between the two.

Advice Requested allows users to post there more than one submission.
In the Fall template, "new" comments do not stand out as they should.
HTML links do work yet.
On the submitting page, half of the sword's picture on the bottom is displaced. (html table issue for sure)
Sometimes, empty lines from various users are inserted into the shoutbox. (This may be already gone, or is much rarer than once.)
Inconsistent behaviour(?) - in the History of Hewdamia Codex, in the Third Era linked sub, there is one reply comment visible (1467#7020); it shouldn't be.
If you add a scroll, then edit it later and remove ALL content, you lose the ability to later edit it or even remove it!
Tables in submissions may not be working ideally.
The Underline tags < u> & < /u> aren't working.
Some question on logging issues.
Polish collection XXVII
Cannot modify 'my page' under profile. When I click apply, I get "No body by that name..."

Re: Official V2.0 Bug Thread
#2
1) Last Visited is not working properly
2) Print pages don't do what they are suppose to
7) Codex - HoH vote on the King submission propagates through the codex submissions. (just visually the text shows up, doesn't effect actual votes and such)
11) User page - trim the extra decimal places that are 0's
(if I missed anything, please forgive me and post it up here, thanks!)
1) Last visited turned out to be a chore. It is because we have the forums and we have Citadel. The script that I use doesn't seem to coordinate login dates with these two in a way I can use them. So, probably what I going to have to end up doing is build a login type database that takes the last login, compares that date to comments and submissions and loads up the database with all these things as 'unviewed' then I just read that to show new stuff. This will also solve the problem about identifying what is new as I can compare stuff to the database. I am going to have to look at it hard though because I never like adding new databases and/or queries unless I really need them so there still might be another way. This might take a little time to figure out though.
2) Well, despite the format, they now do what they say they do on the link. Print is going to be one of my projects for V2.2 probably so this format will have to do for the time being....at least it works now though.
7) Fixed that one.
11) Fixed that one too.
Hopefully will get to the ideas today/tonight! Sure you don't need them that bad do you? :) -
Re: Official V2.0 Bug Thread
#3
12) Forum is ugly - yes this one will take some time.
13) Need the old emoticons from V1.0 - no :twisted:Â (or whatever it was, I forget at the moment)
I got the emoticons up. That was easy.
The forum being ugly, well, only so much I can do. It is a new forum after all and we can't expect it to be just like our elder one. The icon graphics on this are a PAIN. There is like 5 different icons per normal icon. One for normal post, one for normal post that you posted in, normal post with x hits, normal post with xxx hits, and then there are the same amount for polls, sticky, and some other odd things.
So I did my best to use the same darn image for most everything. The annoying thing, to me, is that on the actual post pages, the left icon doesn't change the same as the front icon. Subdued to color, when there is a new post. Instead they have that little "new" graphic in with the topic title. Annoying.
But, I have forsaken everything else tonight to give us a homey feeling. Hope it is at least a little better now and if the graphics are goofy, I screwed up one of them. -
Re: Official V2.0 Bug Thread
#4Not exactly a bug, but how do you hyperlink between submissions within the text of the submission?(i.e. "The Rod of Doom is carried by Minos the Munchkin") I looked at the html guide but couldn't figure it out.
Thanks,
Iain -

#5Location: The Bizarre Lifeform Challenge
Error: Cannot view comment (I was Barbarian Horde when I tried to view it)
Notes: I can view and collapse the comments prior to the hair beast by manfred. Any attempt to view a comment after that beast only affects the hair beast comment and not the other ones. -
Re: Official V2.0 Bug Thread
#6but I really suggest to put back the short cut for replies...
I really don't know how to call it but...
you know, the text box below the messages (forum replies) from the old version, so we can just type there and send and... TADA!! Cool
The citadel is ok on it's current state now, but... it's really hard for my pc to load when I click on reply... Laughing
Oh! you might think it's a selfish suggestion, so you can just ignore my suggestion... Surprised
Rei had this comment in Captain's Inane Natter thread. He needs the shortcut text field that was on the bottom of the page in V1, and I say: Yes! I miss that feature too! -
Re: Official V2.0 Bug Thread
#7When editing comments I found that I could not attach a new vote. This applies only if you did NOT vote in the first place. (I cannot edit my comment later and attach a vote) -
Re: Official V2.0 Bug Thread
#9A couple good ones I will try and look at.
The quick reply feature, text box at the bottom of every forum thread, go to your FORUM PROFILE, there is an option somewhere in there to turn it on.
You should spend some time in the profile options of the forum. There is lots of stuff you can customize! -
Re: Official V2.0 Bug Thread
#10Okay: I voted for MAnfreds hair beast and then I regretted my vote and went back. Then I deleted my vote and then I deleted my submission. Then I repasted my comment and voted anew. For the result, check out the Hair Beast yourself.
http://www.rpgcitadel.com/content.php?node=1238
I am sorry, but the vote bug seems to be alive. -
Re: Official V2.0 Bug Thread
#11No, I didn't fix it from the first time you mentioned it. Now it seems to be a bit more serious. Looks like it takes the vote away but leaves the rating. -
Re: Official V2.0 Bug Thread
#12Since AG is a big baby and doesn't want to risk his life by bringing up another bug...
Up top, the Citadel Home link, when clicked from a sub-forum, points you back to the forum main, not the Citadel Main. From the Forum Main, it points you properly. I figure this might be misleading, and cause issues with some. -
Re: Official V2.0 Bug Thread
#13Aaah, must be a soft link. Yep, will get that ASAP. Notice the IE toolbar tag is screwed too. Man -
Re: Official V2.0 Bug Thread
#14Now I know why no one has posted idea seeds since the launch of V2:
Warning: main(./theme/castle/ideaadd.tpl.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/strolen/public_html/ideaadd.php on line 337

Happens when I click "idea seeds" and then "add submission" -

Is this still a problem? It workds fine for me... -
Re: Official V2.0 Bug Thread
#17
When viewing the "20 last comments" I noticed that MoonHunters "Top advice for 2004" was listed with 0 comments. Well, I had already commented on it and sure enough: When I clicked the link the comment was there.
That is true. Is that a bad thing? I probably shouldn't show the vote button in that case then. (was not an on purpose feature, but I agree with the function) -

Fixed. Linked the center heading. The other is a table background graphic and unlinkable. I could put in a tranparent gif but I am lazy. :) -
Re: Official V2.0 Bug Thread
#19I was looking at some of the submissions. And the comments in the submissions sometimes do not match what is listed. Forinstance, a few of my submissions will have say 4 comments but only two people have actually posted a comment and votes. Does a vote count as a comment so if you vote and comment it counts as one each for two? -
Re: Official V2.0 Bug Thread
#20I looked at that last night for a few minutes and I think I fixed it but need to update comments.
When somebody ONLY voted, it did not count as a comment. If they then edited that vote with a comment, it was already not counted.
There was another thing that would happen if it was edited it an wierd order or something. I do have to look at that a little harder and then do a count synch with the comments to double check.
I might have to change how stuff is edited. -
Re: Official V2.0 Bug Thread
#21For those that hadn't caught me in chat and wonder why the bug correcting is going so slow.
I am currently on 12 hour days at work so have limited time to actually code. Good news is that this weekend is a 4-day weekend so hopefully I can get them all.
So keep posting them, I am not ignoring them, just don't have time to get to them! -

#22Scroll/Codex identification not working on very front pages of categories -
Re: Official V2.0 Bug Thread
#23SQL/DB Error -- [Unknown column 'random' in 'order clause']
Found when in the "In Work" section and hit random. Does the same thing within Codices, Scrolls, and Advice Requested. Elsewhere it works fine. -

Fixed. Thanks manfred!!!!!!!!!!! -
Re: Official V2.0 Bug Thread
#26Problem with Strolen.com redirection. People are redirected to the hellish pit of bugs known as rpgcitadel.com/old/ wherein all themes are gone, no links function and you are perpetually stuck on the main site. I thought this only applied to me before I chatted with a very frustrated Alec Shadowkin.
This will scare visitors away for good. -

Resynched the comments. Hopefull the comment bug is already fixed and we are back to normal. As of this moment, all the comment counts should correctly reflect the comments. -

Fixed, YEAHHHH!! Are there more of these type things anybody? Easy to fix, hard to find. -

Re: Official V2.0 Bug Thread
#30Manfred requested this one too. I got a couple ideas on how to do it and will probably try one out this weekend. It needs to be more like the forum don't you think? Maybe not in each category, but when you view new it should
a) Perhaps go directly to the comment if it is a new comment
b) Identify all new for you until they are viewed
c) Have some sort of new identificating icon or something on it to confirm that it is indeed new
A lot like the forums. -
Re: Official V2.0 Bug Thread
#31Another one.
This by far I am not complaining about I just want to bring it out if it isnt working. The advancement by submissions and XP. When looking at the chart going form level 4 to level 5. Level 5 you need 33 submissions and 620 XP. Looking at my stats I have 38 submissions and 867 XP. Is this something that was just edited on the FAQ and wasn't updated in the coding? Just curious. I wil lsee how far I can get before it boots me to the next level. -

Don't worry, you aren't the only one to ask about this one.
Story is: The script was getting the submission count from your profile. Your profile page was actually counting the submissions. The Submission page was not updating submission counts. So your profile shows the correct number while your actual database submission count was not getting updated and that is what was checked. So, my level script worked, my submission page script did not.
Short story long, I fixed it and hopefully it all works. We will see if there is an error on a submission input. (won't effect anything except your submission count so no worries) -

Added the link instructions (truncated form) in the HTML help menu. Not sure why I didn't think of that. ;) -
Re: Official V2.0 Bug Thread
#34IDEAS ARE FINALLY DONE.......... -
Re: Official V2.0 Bug Thread
#35-->For some reason the votes and HoH did not regenerate this time. I am pretty certain about this as I have gone a loooooong time without new votes now. Other people murmured about the same in the shoutbox
-->The Challenged Admin sandbox has a submission. Beneath it is says 2/2 votes needed for removal and 2 admins had indeed voted for it to vanish, none for it to remain. MoonHunter thinks it needs 3/3 votes and if so you should change the text in the admin area -
Re: Official V2.0 Bug Thread
#36Bad redirection from: http://www.strolen.com/forums/index.php
The background of user Zylithan had this strange sepia glow. Is it some kind of honour or something? -
Re: Official V2.0 Bug Thread
#37-Maintain the 'hidden' user on the Citadel Pages
-View Comments made by somebody through their profile (easy to do, hard to figure out how to format/view them)
-View submissions that 'I' haven't commented on or voted on
-
Re: Official V2.0 Bug Thread
#38I noticed a bug with the HOH.
I voted on manfred's submission, The Box that can not be opened. I think thats the title. I then started reading the chatbox. I clicked on the refresh button in IE and it voted for HOH again. This is the second time i have seen this. The first time I thought I hit the wrong link. But I didn't even click the HOH link. Just refreshing the page after voting makes you vote again if you have enough votes. -
Re: Official V2.0 Bug Thread
#39Well, I *think* I fixed it.
I had one failed test, changed something and only have 1 vote left and too tired to find something to double check to make sure that the HoH still works in the first place.
So, if anybody wants to test this for me, find something worth two of your HoH votes and give it a refresh after you vote. It shouldn't take it if I did it right. ;)Â Let me know, otherwise I will find something else tomorrow and try and figure it out.
Thanks for another one Mourn!
And thanks to Chaosmark who found a good one today too! (add that to Citadel Explained - Only Normal Submissions may be added to a Codex, you can try to add "in work" and others, but the script just won't find them) -

Vote delete add edit thing still has issues. Won't accept update with new vote.
