Background: Knowledge about Toralf Young-Sword is very limited. His family was murdered by bandits while traveling down a road heading towards Whiterun. He was the only survivor. His only possessions are the clothes on his body and his father’s daedric steel longsword.

Currently he has no fixed living quarters and wonders from place to place looking for resources to survive on. His body bares many scars from combat. He can be found moving from place to place fighting and killing bandits for their supplies.

Despite his young age, he is very skilled with his father’s sword. It is confirmed by multiple eyewitness reports that he has slain at least 137 bandits but there might be more that are not known about. Interviews with the local brigands that hangout in the taverns verify these reports.

He is known to various bandit groups as “The Child Warrior” and the stories describe him as “A young Nord boy who looks to be about 6 years old. He carries a fine sword with him at all times. And despite his young appearance, fights like a battle-hardened war hero.”

Many adventurers have tried to assist him but he insists that he can handle himself. He is not known to have received any training in the art of combat let alone swordsmanship. The child has also been observed to have been casting some high level healing spells upon himself during and after a battle. As it is not known if he had any training in the arcane arts, how he can cast these spells is not known.

The current working theory as to how Toralf acquired his skills is that they are self-taught through observation, practice, experience, and the reading of books related to these skills. As for the spells, we know he will sometimes settle inside Nordic and Dwarven Ruins. There might be some spell tomes in those places that he read while exploring them.

Evidence that support this theory include archived reports from Imperial Scouts that record various times in which someone resembling Toralf Young-Sword has been seen observing combat between people.

Also an adventurer at The Bannered Mare was heard saying that he has sometimes noticed a young boy follow him into Nordic Ruins and appear to be watching how he fights off monsters inside.

When questioned further it was revealed that the Draugr would not act hostile towards the boy and only attack adults. The adventurer claims that they would simply ignore the boy even though he is clearly in their sight. Why they act this way towards him remains a mystery. Perhaps they figure he is not a threat to them or their resting place.

There are also unconfirmed rumors that Toralf has been seen sparring with Draugr. But there is currently no reason to believe that these rumors are true. Until more credible proof is provided, these claims are assumed to be false.

This might indicate how he got some of his combat skills. Is is unusual why he is choosing to only fight with a sword despite being known to have observed and gotten into fights involving other melee weapons. It might be the fact that it is the weapon he started out with and simply got used to it.

Another adventurer who set up camp near a bandit camp spotted him sleeping and described what he saw. When he sleeps, he has his father’s sword clutched tightly in his hands as if it is something that is keeping him alive.

It is confirmed that Toralf Young-Sword got revenge on the one who was behind the murder of his parents. It was a brigand known as Rolf the Red. Although eyewitness accounts have been hard to come by, there is a song written by a bard who saw it with his own eyes. See addendum 01 for that song.

Current Status: He has recently been sighted staying in the Nordic Ruin Yngol Barrow. This is a popular location for bandits due to the stories of treasure hidden in there so it is likely that he has no need to move from that location. This is further supported by the fact that everyone who has entered doesn’t come out again.

After he avenged his parents murder, he has resumed wondering the lands. There are no known objectives he is working towards at this time.

Addendum 01: A song has been passed around written by a bard who witnessed Toralf’s vengeance first hand. For completeness of this dossier file, the words are transcribed here:

To the shady hold of Riften came a nordling one fine day
Hardly spoke to folks around him, didn't have too much to say
No one bothered to ask his business, no one bothered to give him flak
The nordling there among them had a longsword on his back
Longsword on his back

It was early in the morning when he wondered into town
He had entered from the south gate slowly lookin' all around
"He's a brigand, loose and running," the nordling loudly spat
And he's here to do some business with the longsword on his back"
Longsword on his back

In this town there lived an brigand by the name of Rolf the Red
Many men had tried to take him and that many men were dead
He was vicious and a killer, though a youth of twenty four
And the notches on his claymore numbered one and nineteen more
One and nineteen more

Now the nordling started talking, made it plain to folks around
Was the son of wealthy merchants, wouldn't be too long in town
He came here to avenge his family, will not stop until he's dead
And he said it didn't matter - he was after Rolf the Red
After Rolf the Red

Wasn't long before the story was relayed to Rolf the Red
But the brigand didn't worry; men that tried before were dead
Twenty men had tried to take him, twenty men had skills that lacked
Twenty one would be the nordling with the longsword on his back
Longsword on his back

The morning passed so quickly it was time for them to meet
It was twenty past eleven when they walked out in the street
Folks were watching from the windows; the guards had held their breath
They knew this fearless nordling was about to meet his death
About to meet his death

There was eleven feet between them when they stopped to make their play
And the swiftness of the nordling is still talked about today
Rolf the Red had not cleared scabbard 'fore a blade had swiftly hacked
And the nordling's swing was deadly with the longsword on his back
Longsword on his back

It was over in a moment and the folks had gathered round
There before them lay the body of the brigand on the ground
Oh he might have went on livin', but all caution he did lack
When he tried to match the nordling with the longsword on his back
Longsword on his back

End of line.
