Collection of Daggers 2

The dark selection of Daggers

75 xp 2,108 views

01 Soul Ripper:

A black dagger with arcane runes, forged for the sole purpose to destroy the soul of its target.

It is insidious, in the way that it leaves the skin and body of the target unharmed.

This dagger is used to rip out the soul, either in trade or as a trophy, or to simply destroy the victim totaly and permanently.

02 the Thirteen Obsidians: (13 daggers)

The Obsidian was originally stolen from the Royal Monastery.

Once carved into the dark daggers, unholy runes was etched into the blade's left side.

The runes glow threatening, as it sucks the life right out of the target body, thus rejuvenating the wielder with equal amount as is taken. Once the deed is done, the corpse is robbed of its shadow.

03 Archaic Dagger of Misery:

Forged out of dark iron for the guild of Pain technicians (commonly known as Torturers).

The intent is that mere touching of the blade is inducing sever pain, while agony is soon to follow as it is penetrating the skin. Little to no bloodshed occurs, and the victim is surviving with no more than a haunting memory of the event, as prolonged as it may be.

04 Cursed Golden Dagger:

Each dagger is forged out of the purest gold, and dipped into a mixture of Spider and Snake venom, before the runes for a specific curse is engraved into the blade on the right and left side in mirror style.

These daggers were originally ordered from a sect of chaos Dwarfs, by a secluded society of dark Blood elves.

Stabbing the victim insert the insidious curse, right into the body and will then work its dark influences for as long as the accursed individual lives. Naturally, there is no known cure; while death does terminate the curse right along with the victim.

The Hall of Honour is your mark on a submission you believe is frick’n awesome — so good you would jump in front of a dragon’s breath to protect the scroll it is written on.

Bestowing HoH also highlights it on the front of the Citadel for about a day, so others see the recognition it earned.

You may bestow HoH on the same submission up to your level (with a short wait between strikes). Five distinct HoH voters raise a work to Golden.

A good idea but it needs a story behind it. Why was it made? Who made it? Who was it used to target?

I'd be interested in seeing some mechanics suggestions as well.

Soul Ripper - does it cause loss of levels / fear effects / curse / use slowly transfers ownership of your soul to some demon prince in exchange for a very effective weapon?

    etc.

The idea is that a body can't function without the soul, if taken or destroyed.

The soul could easily be traded, once extracted.

The otherwise untouched body is also available to be used as you see fit.

Okay, that is a neat concept. It'd be great to see item descriptions and ideas / backgrounds / mechanics in the descriptions of the other items too.

The page can be easily edited/updated even after submission.

Btw, the Archaic Dagger of Misery entry is the best of the ones above, IMO. Neat idea that I have not seen previously. I'd like to hear more about those Pain Technicians some time, perhaps in another submission.

I would enjoy some hints on what needs added, and such.

As to the editing, I strive towards completing the collection of at least 7(seven) daggers here.

I was inspired by the mentioning of said group elsewhere. Of course, part of the presentation is in the choice of correct wording. I need to build up a certain air around these items or daggers for them to be more interesting to use.

There is room for me to create a few more guilds/societies, and NPCs I figured. I was contemplating a few NPCs and Guilds to enter, while I would need to consider a few details as I publish these ideas. Then it just remains to see how these ideas will be received or if they will be appreciated.

Since you requested feedback on what to add, I would say one major aspect would be the backstory behind the item's creation (not the crafting process per se or only when it's interesting. Rather, I would say you could have delved more into what dark origins from which the daggers arose from. I gather that some gamers don't find this aspect very important to include but the Citadel has a few quirks of its own and this need of the readers for an item's backstory I would say is one of them.)

I also find that the entry on the 13 Obsidians a bit too sparse in that there's not even a description of its properties.

I added a few details towards this end, for the 2 first daggers, while I guess there is room for more improvements along the way.

    Great! Nicely added.

Corpse robbed of its shadow is a really neat effect.

These blades were categorized as Villainous for a reason.

These are mean weapons with purpose and cowers to back it up all the way. Even if I may not have managed to express it as clearly as one may have hoped.

I will just have to keep working on completing the collection.

3.5/5 Big improvement over the other subs of yours I have read. I assume you put a lot more effort into this one and it shows! Don't give up on the Citadel quite yet, this sub proves to me that you are getting better and responding to constructive criticism. I vote based on 2 qualities of a sub Number one for me : Is this useful to MY game? That sis where you are getting a 3.5 out of me. Number 2 : Does the sub reach me on an artistic level? again 3.5 , A nice collection Keep at it. The peeps here can make you better!

So i gave my PCs the soul ripper to kill a dragon lord and they kept it. they used it for for some of the stupidest stuff. like they punished a prostitute for refusing them by stealing her soul and leaving her naked in a dark alley. So stupid things can be done with these so there is a depth beyond death. 3/5
