A very short piece

A perfect gamer...
...is always on time to the game, if not early. The gamer will also inform others ahead of time if they are going to miss a session or be late.
... is dedicated to game. When the gamer is at the game, they game. They do not do other things, nor do they distract the others from gaming.
...plays well with other gamers, sharing the spotlight and making sure everyone has something to do.
...always pays attention to the game. The gamer knows what is going on and is watching for story lines and details.
...not only takes the story lines the GM provides, but is pro-active and generates their own story lines.
...knows the spirit and the letter of the rules being used for the game. A perfect gamer helps others with those rules, in such a way as not to disrupt the game.

Rare mark

Hall of Honour

for A perfect gamer is

The Hall of Honour is your mark on a submission you believe is frick’n awesome — so good you would jump in front of a dragon’s breath to protect the scroll it is written on.

Bestowing HoH also highlights it on the front of the Citadel for about a day, so others see the recognition it earned.

You may bestow HoH on the same submission up to your level (with a short wait between strikes). Five distinct HoH voters raise a work to Golden.

I'm going to hang this on my wall. Do you have 'A very short piece' for the GM as well?

This does justice to the term good solid idea! Not a word too long, and not a word too short.

    Excellent!

There is no such thing as a perfect GM. You can get close, if you can find the Spielberg equivalent of a GM. Generally there are different styles and types of GMs. The GM might be perfect for you, but there are too many.

    Okay, I will try.

Not to derail the thread but th comment of Spielberg reminded me or an interview I read with the actress who played Princess Leia. She likened Spielberg's directing style and ability to that of a porn star director. Nearly all he ever told any of the cast was "Harder! With more Emotion next time!" (Not a quality I'd want in a gm lol)

As for the piece itself, it's excellent. Short and easy to remember. It should be printed on the first page of every players handbook for every game ever written.
