Put up a Codex titled Return of the White Deer that links to each of the existing Chapters put up on the Citadel. Currently giving the early Chapters another edit and already made one edit on the Prologue based on some of the feedback from Axle.
btw, there is still 9 spots left from leaving a comment on the Prologue of the White Deer in exchange for vote on 2000 max piece and full 10 spots for the other full Chapters of this book.

#83Sil, I put up the word count limit because that's roughly how long each of my Chapter is but I won't be really be doing an actual word count on the piece you ask me to read. I'm happy to read anything that's reasonably sized from my eyeball test (I think anything up to 3000 is still an easy read for me) in comparison to one of my Chapters or you can always read multiple Chapters in exchange for a longer piece :wink:. -

#87I don't quite understand why there is so much disapproval of the word count I put up (which is not really strict as I explained, just a rough guide) associated with the voting exchange given that most of the exchanges had been more or less based on roughly equal word counts? :huh: (Okay, I can't swear to this being so in court but I distinctly remembered there were instances when the author made it known that it was a long piece they requested a vote on and whoever read it offered another long piece in exchange which is more or less this principle of fairness that my request was based upon)
To be honest, I've often wanted to read a longer piece of Strolen but in my experience, I seldom find the motivation to actually do so (there are pieces I keep tagging into my favourites and they sit there gathering dust for years). And when I comment, it is always my intention for it to be constructive and helpful, or at least an accurate representation of my thoughts on the piece. With longer pieces, the latter is always a struggle because I find it hard to read in one session. When I read them in multiple sessions, then I keep getting the feeling that my vote would be biased. I would hate to skimp read and comment like the status quo for things on the RVE (all right, I sometimes do it but only for pieces with loads of votes b/c I'm conscious of massively downgrading the existing score of a piece). So I'm not really putting up walls but it is part of my efforts to make sure I do a good enough job at holding up my end of the bargain. -

#88If you want to make a disclaimer that you are not capable of reading and understanding something greater than 2000 words than by all means make such a disclaimer.
But if somebody wrote a long piece, that often means a lot of love went into that piece. That may also mean that they are attempting to share something important to them with you and for you to dismiss it because of something superficial like the length or because you feel like it just won't interest you it can be hurtful and it is certainly crass. It is also not easy on the pride to ask for attention. Don't make things more awkward by not being gracious with regard to their requests, certainly before you have even read it. After you read somebodies 4000 word post then you can say it is too long.

#89Requesting 9 or more comments up to and before Chapter 4 of my novel and 10 or more comments for all subsequent Chapters.
After feedback, I have decided to amend my conditions as follows: the exchange is for 1 vote on a piece of work around 2000-3000 (or thereabouts according to eyeball test) for comment on a single Chapter. If you wish to put up a substantially longer piece of work in exchange, please state so in your reply and the deal between us is still under negotiation at that point. I'm putting this extra condition into my proposed exchange to ensure that my comment would be up to its normal standard, which I cannot guarantee for every single work that is of more substantial length that I've stated above. This has nothing to do with me having a 'discrimination' against works of length, simply an artefact of my attention span regarding reading from the browser and its negative impact on the quality of my comments.

I went and commented and voted on all of them. I don't any specific submission of mine I want you to vote on, but there's no shortage. I would prefer comments on a Cosmic Era submission, but there is a little basic fantasy I've done recently. I'd like at least 2 votes/comments out of this, but I do know my subs can be a bit longer than average. -

Really? I see this thread as very useful, now that the Town Crier has been removed from the forums, otherwise where do we go to ask for attention for subs? We could do a shout on the chatbox but then only a few will see it. At least here we're guaranteed x number of votes on subs we want attention.

#101I was a little taken aback by the force of emotion expressed but I wasn't really offended :) I'm a fan of the voting exchange b/c I see a lot of utility use of it, function of me being somewhat of a square peg here and often having loads of undercommented subs and me somehow 'committed' to having at least 3 votes per sub (and 3 happens to be my fav. no. as well). -

#103Scras: The 2 Cosmic Era subs done, 1 or 2 votes more forthcoming and I think I definitely need to take a bit of break away from the more techie subs of this setting (I gave the Maw a 5 but it constantly threatened to blow my mind as I was reading).
Muro: Your turn of non frequent poster sub coming up next but I'm recuperating from the Maw atm. And triplets? Aww... I don't even know that I would ever produce a single child.... Life's challenging enough for me without additional responsibilities.
