Quotes of, by, and for, the Citadel
#1so, we have movie quotes, book quotes, game quotes and famous quotes.
Let us indulge...I propose marking and noting great quotes and/or passages by our fellow citadelians. Quotes, terms, sentences, and turns-of-the-phrase, mined from countless submissions, and put forth here for our enjoyment, and as a "way-to-go!" cheer for the writer in question.
here, I'll begin:
Siren no Orakio: A man needs two things to become a saint. He must perform three miracles, and then he must die
Scrasamax: mercy is a game played by the merciless.
Ancient Gamer: Unbeknownst to anyone, the mage watched the birth through the windows of the miller's home, and when Thenadore arrived his soul probed the young newborn for a shelter and a host in the years to come. Curious, the innocent soul of Thenadore accepted, and in the last seven years they have co-existed in a symbiotic and benevolent partnership
manfred: The only creature, that can be victorious on any battlefield, is the raven."
Psalmanazar: Those who visit will find the penitents to be harmless, if somewhat delusional; They are flat and uninteresting, but absurdly hopeful about their paradise to come.

#2CaptainPenguin: Return to me," she said, and as he died, he said: "I shall return".And though the years flew like sparrows from disturbed nest, he did return, year after year...! -
Re: Quotes of, by, and for, the Citadel
#3valadaar: Watching him play checkers with Formuro was always amusing - whenever he took one of Formuro's pieces he would rattle his jaw in joy. -
Re: Quotes of, by, and for, the Citadel
#4yep, beauts those! nice AG. -
Re: Quotes of, by, and for, the Citadel
#5Scrasamax: The bigger the brain, the smaller the heart. What do wizards know of faith?

Re: Quotes of, by, and for, the Citadel
#6Not so much lines from subs or rps, more lines from just general existence.
Murometz - I don't like being watched. I like to conduct my evil deeds in private.
Murometz - The good news is that if you kill two xaren with 0 xp, you'll be well on your way to second level.
Ria Hawk - The bad news is that we have to kill two xaren with 0 xp.
EchoMirage - I am of the opinion that one should love everybody who ain't a jerk.
Wulfhere - I assure you that being a jackass is it's own punishment.
MoonHunter - But I like ranting. -
Re: Quotes of, by, and for, the Citadel
#7CaptainPenguin: GROG FOR EVERYBODY! IA CTHULHU! -
Re: Quotes of, by, and for, the Citadel
#8Wulfhere: Dozus and I were considering a contest of pugilistic puissance, and require big handlebar moustaches. -
Re: Quotes of, by, and for, the Citadel
#9Wulfhere strikes again: "War is like Jello... there's always room for more..." -
Re: Quotes of, by, and for, the Citadel
#10Strolen - I was thinking of a type of earwax that gained intelligence....
Wulfhere - No... We have to work with semi-sentient ear wax every day. We don't want it on the Citadel.
Ria Hawk - The sad thing is that's fairly accurate...
valadaar - And generous...

Re: Quotes of, by, and for, the Citadel
#11MoonHunter Wow! I didn't even need to google it, just had to kick some grey cells.
MoonHunter I started using the line,
"I have forgotten more about gaming than you know."
It dovetails nicely with the line,
"I have rule books, some of which I am still using, older than you."
"But If I start remembering things, I am going to have to stop using that line." -
Re: Quotes of, by, and for, the Citadel
#12CaptainPenguin "Inhale. Kill. Exhale." -
Re: Quotes of, by, and for, the Citadel
#13Murometz Behold, the Queen of incongruous, bizarre, obscure and fascinating media!
Ria Hawk bows. -
Re: Quotes of, by, and for, the Citadel
#14Ria: It looks like we have another relative
Wulfhere: Is he from the idiot side of the family or the other branch? -
Re: Quotes of, by, and for, the Citadel
#15DaWergylingImagine if there was only one remedy and it was: PEANUT BUTTER! -
Re: Quotes of, by, and for, the Citadel
#16Ria Hawk:...dude, I will set you on fire. -
Re: Quotes of, by, and for, the Citadel
#1711:11 am: *holds back another rant*
11:11 am: *going to explode*
11:12 am: *manging to supress, barely*
11:12 am: Try another Chuck Norris quote, those help.
11:12 to 11:14am:
Chuck Norris does not edit submissions, he glares at them and the errors run away
Chuck Norris always scores a 5 on all his submissions, because they all end
with a perfect Round House Kick
Chuck Norris never comments on submission. He simply glares at the author, and they know what they did wrong.
Chuck Norris never submits a magic weapon, after all those are for #@$@# who can't throw a round house kick.

Re: Quotes of, by, and for, the Citadel
#18Siren No Orakia-''Man, too, is a primal creature, though he binds himself with the chains named Reason and Law, locked link by link from birth. Yet, those locks can be opened, the links broken, in both the savage world of the street-slum, and in the gilded cages of nobility.'' -
Re: Quotes of, by, and for, the Citadel
#19"The inanimate body of a Burlap Golem, rent nearly in two, is used as a combination of sleeping bag and mattress. A bubbling jar of what looks like noses with tiny muscled feet bodes ominously beside it. Occasionally, a bubble stirs the slick green fluid and one of the noses jumps away in fright"

Re: Quotes of, by, and for, the Citadel
#20"This free role playing site continues to grow with your help, so join our role playing community, read our material, post a few ideas, and go play."
From the main page - I'm sure you've all seen it.
Nonetheless, it sums up the purpose and format of the citadel so splendidly that I feel it deserves to be posted here. -
Re: Quotes of, by, and for, the Citadel
#21And as for need... I admit that I partly hope to never need magic to help me, and partly hope it will. Go figure.

Re: Quotes of, by, and for, the Citadel
#22(Wow... where did you dig out this one from?) -
Re: Quotes of, by, and for, the Citadel
#23Save us first, tend to the hideous fleshbags you seem incapable of leaving later --Koschei (Dujek's lizard familiar, aka Pariah) -
Re: Quotes of, by, and for, the Citadel
#24[Ria Hawk] Meep
It just sort of sums it all up. -
Re: Quotes of, by, and for, the Citadel
#25I'm sure you can die bravely, with honor. But can you die artistically?- Ria Hawk -
Re: Quotes of, by, and for, the Citadel
#26Siren no Orakio - ... We have an all-holy-man party in Where the Wind Blows. We cannot cast "Create Water". *Bangs his head off the wall repeatedly.* -
Re: Quotes of, by, and for, the Citadel
#27Hehe, yes. Thats a good one. -
Re: Quotes of, by, and for, the Citadel
#28....I dun get it. -
Re: Quotes of, by, and for, the Citadel
#29A faithful adherent to the Church of Divine Water, the austere Adaleer once knelt beside a sacred reflecting pool for six years. It is said that afterwards, he could see own reflection in every creature he met, understanding them as deeply as he understood himself --Dozus -
Re: Quotes of, by, and for, the Citadel
#30I'm a big fan of Insanity in general, especially when related to water. And frogs. And cool noises. And apparently fragmented sentences -Roack -
Re: Quotes of, by, and for, the Citadel
#31I did not think fire was that terribly more effective against feathers then fur, but perhaps - I've never torched an Arctic Owl to see. -Valadaar -
Re: Quotes of, by, and for, the Citadel
#32Murometz - All hell was breaking loose. Luckily for the adventurers-upon-return, hell breaking loose, was old hat for them. What was truly frightening, was that they preferred it this way. -
Re: Quotes of, by, and for, the Citadel
#33By MoonHunter:
You don't stop playing games because you get old, you get old when you stop playing games.
It may become my sig line -
Re: Quotes of, by, and for, the Citadel
#34Kassil, to Siren no Orakio: You show me these things just to see me run away screaming, don't you?
(Many months later)
...You know, I think it's a little worrying that your more terrifying ideas no longer worry me, save in the sense that Fox is never allowed to get his hands on any of it. -
Re: Quotes of, by, and for, the Citadel
#35Fox? -
Re: Quotes of, by, and for, the Citadel
#36Fox is a friend of mine; more completely known by the moniker Foxfire Kitsune or Foxfire Kitsuya. Siren knows him by way of the MUSH and Usenet group all three of us used to frequent, as well as a few other oddball encounters.
Suffice that Fox can be readily described by the term homicidal mania. While he lacks the actual drive to go out and do so, a fair chunk of his psyche can be described as anger, fury, arrogance, and utter disdain for all other living things that can't absently stomp him into the ground.
...I happen to be one of the things that can, and do my part to keep him from randomly detonating in one of his many horribly flawed plans by pointing out the flaws without offering to fix any of them.
A great many of Siren's creations, like the Legacy of Hatred, would fit far, far too well in Fox's hands. -
Re: Quotes of, by, and for, the Citadel
#37Ah, okay. Danke. -
Re: Quotes of, by, and for, the Citadel
#38"Or, if you feel charitable, warm it and hatch it - the beast within might be of great use and power. Or just eat it - you need to get big and strong just like Voro over here, your voice thundering and aroma mighty!"
Kyrian, AuR ~ EchoMirage
It is most likely dead now, all spark of life lost to the cold outside the nest - an omelet is really the most dignified end Fortuna may still have in store for it."
Kyrian, AuR ~ EchoMirage
I like my meat(Verbeeg) with a great deal of pepper
Gorodjur, Ogre chieftan, AuR ~ Wulfhere
The Company of Brown Tidings was camouflaged quite nicely against the sepia-themed terrain around them.
Narration, AuR ~ Murometz
That one's definitely the one who's been following us. It could be he's just headed our way; this isn't an uncommon trail to Jantir. But given our usual streak of luck, he's probably an assassin-wizard working for demons
Inspecter Aerex, AuR ~ Dozus
Gazing at the overladen traveler, Vorodon wondered if he should also advise him that there had been mudslides in the area. He decided against it; the man would doubtlessly notice sooner or later.
Vorodon, AuR ~ Wulfhere
Well, Voro hasn't ripped him in half yet...That's probably a good sign.
Inspecter Aerex, AuR ~ Dozus

#39With reference to Dumbledore being a lame Gandalf rip-off:
5:10 pm: man, if I cannot cast a Power Word: Poop spell without my stick, I will frikken make sure it is GLUED TO MY HAND -
Re: Quotes of, by, and for, the Citadel
#40Referring to the Starkin game, and the line my Salvorathan delivered to a bartender:
Siren no Orakio: The drink the bartender will serve you, with that line, is a double-shot's worth of something green and faintly luminescent. You didn't get to see him mix it, but something squeaked under the counter, like a mouse being squeezed cartoonishly. Still want to drink it? :p
Kassil: Salvorathan honor depends on it. Of course, even with that, there's probably a bar fight about to break out.
Siren: *rolls* - FYI, you're going to take 3 boxes of stun from the concoction, and in addition to the normal symptoms of drunkenness, you get slight muscle twitches.
Kassil: ...I need to remember to get some of that to threaten the less-durable races with when they start threatening to get us all killed.
