Assuming they are original HPG's from the early 1900's I would guess the logo is that of a former casino/gambling house?

(Similar to this style of logo [img width=400 height=267]http://www.travel-images.com/pht/melilla69.jpg

If so narrowing it down beyond that is a shot in the dark.

LOL .. thanks ... Unfortunately the dice are not that old ... My guess is they are from the 1960-70's ... based on the aging of the plastic and paint ... as well as the boxes in which they were contained (not a real indicator but they do match)

In addition .. I have never seen casino's sell / have poker dice (just because I have not seen them does not mean that they do not exist)

The funny thing about those dice are ... I saw the ebay auction for the actual dice used in the movie (allegedly) ...

I bid even though I could not count them in the collection because of the snake ... I was overbid :(

Kevin, you should see if you can dig something like this up:

How awesome would it be if an ancient papyrus scroll with an etched character sheet on it, turned up next!

  25. Very early polyhedral dice

    #225
I just had to do an interim update to show these dice

    http://www.dicecollector.com/dice_MINT34_ADVERTISING_ATTRACTIONS_INC_ZAZZ_POLYSPHERES_01.jpg

At first I thought they were just some cheap polys that someone marked with sharpie and put into an old dice box ... Turns out ... they are cheap polys (Hong Kong) but are much older than I thought ... 1963

These may be the oldest polyhedral game dice set ... we have seen d4's ... d6's ... d12's ... and even d20's from ancient times ... but never as a set

Wishing I had a picture of these to show... when I worked in Law Enforcement I met a group of guys who played Dangerous Journys in prison. They were not allowed to have real dice per the prison rules so they made a full set of dice out wet paper. They took layers of paper and wet them and then molded them into dice and when they dried they were functioning dice. They were not perfect but you could tell the difference in all of the dice and they did roll fairly well.

Interesting .. I did know about not being allowed to have dice ... I wonder if someone could mail them foldable dice http://www.dicecollector.com/MY_PAPER.HTM ... or would that be a violation of the rules ... I wonder if the rule against dice is due to ... they could be somehow used nefariously ... or they can be used to gamble

Just how many dice do you have to hold the Guinness world record? :)

LOL ..its complicated ... but the simple answer is .. more than me ... and the current count is 43886

And no .. you cant just goto a dice manufacturer and have them make you 50000 of the same die :P

There are rules that were agreed upon by Guinness before I first set the record 10 years ago
