puppy dog tail's suit

a fur coat with interesting properties and penalties

45 xp 5,156 views

Many years ago there was a lonely mage by the name of Squingle. (with a name like that who wouldn't be lonely?) His only friend was his white puppy, Jeb. Squingle wished only to be closer to his one true friend, and not knowing a druid or other nature-worker set off to fashion himself an ear piece which would let him know what his furry friend was saying. Nearing the end of the crafting, Squingle had placed all the final pieces on the table. Beginning the last incantation both dog and owner were anxios, electricity was ih the air, this was the moment Squingle ha been waiting for. In a flash of light it was done. The ear piece lay their just as it had, and with baited breath Squingle picked it up to put it against hhis ear, only to find where his ear used to be was now a large furry flap. Confused, he ran to a mirror only to find his face no longer his, and a white, furry half human, half dog creature staring back. Dismayed, he sat down and began to cry, trying to figure out what went wrong. As he sat there, Jeb came up and resting his snout let out a soft rumble from his throat. After a moment Squingle realized he understood what Jeb had said, 'We're together now.' And without realizing it, the mage moaned back, 'together at last.' Suffice to say, traveling outside his house became a problem because of his new found form, some people just plain stupified by the beast, some fearing that he had become a were-wolfish abomination. He found also that his regular speach was no longer perfect from his elongated muzzle, many times words resulting in yips or barks. When Squingle finaly passed away, not long after Jeb had died, (many beleived he killed himelf) he was found wholey human again and was buried with a white wool coat, matted and in not the best of shape, not that anyone knew where the coat had come from since he'd never worn it before.

Magical Properties:

this white hooded shirt appears to be a poorly kept fur coat. upon donning the coat and pulling up the hood, it will meld to the body, elongating their mouth and nose, etc. turning them into a were-dog, though their thoughts and actions will be as they always have been, it's merely a physical change. This coat will allow it's owner to understand canine speach, including wolves an what not, though with some difficulty, as well as speak it, though not perfectly. As well as grants claw and bite attacks and the owner will leave canine footprints of a large dog at will. While not cursed, this item does offer severe drawbacks, including being frowned upon as a mutated freak, or hunted for being a were-creature, to anything else you might do if you saw a huge half dog creature walking down the street. There are two ways to remove this curse, one through the wearer's death, and to by acting completely like a dog, i.e. chasing a cat or other small animal with crazed fervor, begging for food by sitting and staring at someone, or anything else a dog might do, after which the coat becomes a normal coat for one day, or it is removed and put back on in which the owner again changes form.

Hey, this is positively cute! And can be lots of fun - especially the escape clause is great.

btw., didn't Squingle think about moving far, far away and changing his name into something like Max Power the Unfathomable? Just nitpicking... :D

Ah echo, but if he had moved and given himself such a name, everyone would think he was over-compensating. I jest, but seriously, some people are forever cursed to be outcasts.
