The Wyrde Woods
Deep in the woods, something has gone wrong. Travellers are disappearing like flies and the townspeople are wary of passing under its shady eaves.
Deep in the woods, something has gone wrong. Travellers are disappearing like flies and the townspeople are wary of passing under its shady eaves.
But needs must, and a party of merchants and errand-runners band together to brave the dangers of the forest and bring vital trade between the towns of Eormlad and Frale. The PCs belong to this party. One of them is running an errand for a local wizard, carrying an unknown item in a small, locked box for Dega, wizard of Frale.
In actual fact this artefact is an item stolen from the druids deep in the forest, and has great magical power. Since it was stolen three months ago, the druids have not been letting anyone pass through the wood, and hence the grisly disappearances. The druids will send creatures (natural and magical) to pursue the PCs and try to regain the item, though the PCs may not realise what it is they are after. And when they do, will they be willing to give it back?

3 years 600 hits and no comments. tsk tsk.
3 YEARS? My god! Well, it's a bit short, with not much detail, but it's a good start for DMs willing to flesh it out themselves. Which also leaves a lot of freedom for them, which could be a good thing - I just like to see a little more background and information.
Good idea, but much too short. Need more detail on the woods, what is happening there, and the artifact that is causing it. Not enough detail to be able to drop it into a campaign.
A nice start, but I really would like to see more.
My big question is why are the druids abducting/killing travelers between the towns who most likely are completely ignorant of what is going on? I agree the idea needs to be more fleshed out, particularly the magic item. What could druids want so badly if they are taught to derive almost everything from nature?
