Eastern Rabbit's Staff of Doom
Tired of losing followers to inept searchers, The Eastern Rabbit decided to *motivate* searchers to find the hidden eggs. This item is Silly.
The Eastern Rabbit (no relation to the easter bunny, that wuss) had a dilemma once upon a time. On a traditional day of celebration, the followers of the Eastern Rabbit would hold a mock treasure hunt for their children, to give life to the legends of the great treasures the Eastern Rabbit kept inside it's burrow. They would paint chicken eggs to look like jewels and hide them all about the villiage and surounding lands. The children would frolick and laugh on this day of merriment and whichever child found the most eggs would be rewarded with a seat at the head table of the celebration banquet.
The children and thier parents were not always diligent, however, and often, some eggs would not be found. After a few weeks they became foul, harsh reminders of lazy children. Travelers and neighbors would comment on the stench and the followers of the Eastern Rabbit would hide less eggs or none at all to avoid the critisism of thier neighbors. With fewer believers and his followers believing less, the Eastern Rabbit decided to act.
The Eastern Rabbit visited his followers as they prepared for the next celebration and told them he himself would reward the child who found the most eggs by changing them into candy for the feast, but the parent who hid the most eggs that were NOT found would suffer his wrath.
So the villagers hid their eggs and the children searched for them and one was rewarded at the feast. True to his word, the Eastern Rabbit appeared at the feast, and with a twitch of his nose, the large pile of eggs became candies.
No one saw him exact any vengance on anyone, the feast continued on with greater glee and merriment than ever before. It wasn't untill a lone washerwoman went home with her children after looking for her wayward husband did anyone learn the price for being crafty and devious with the Eastern Rabbit's eggs. There in her bed, huddled under the covers and bound in her husband's clothes, was a brown rabbit.
Magical Properties:
The staff is 6 feet long and solid, although covered in a soft brown fur. The fur never fades or falls off or out, it is a part of the staff as if it were it's skin. The fur can be burned and the staff ceases to function untill the hair grows back out, which typically takes 1d4+2 months.
If the wielder says the command word "Evil Peep" and strikes someone with it, they will be turned into a common rabbit. This power can be used once per day.
The staff can also turn the egg of any fowl (dragons are not fowl, so they're safe) into overly sweet candy creme in a sugary shell by pointing the staff at the eggs and saying the command word "Cadbury". This powerer can be used only once a year, but on any number of eggs up to 25,000.

Ways a DM Can Stall an Adventure
Have you ever been in a position where you needed a quick break but your players were too ancy to break as well?
sure why not
Why at all? Great for a fantasy Toons game, but that is about it.
No! If you have a god who can be known as the Rabbit or Eastern Rabbit, it can be a perfect item, if you just give it a better name, like just the Eastern Rabbit's Staff, and maybe a new command word. I like it! It fits in perfectly with my god Tosh, the Tradelord, who's avatar is a golden rabbit.
Many thanks Penguin.
This item wasn't intended to fit in with a serious adventure, that's why I put the disclaimer on the summary. I, all too often, have a lot of fun being silly.
It is a great item, for certain settings. I just love the work that has gone into describing the story of the staff and all.
(I would have prefered a bit of a explanation as to how and why the staff connects to the story though)
I may have a use for this item in my campaign..
Evil Peep!
Why is it that I seem to be filled with visions of evil child-sized minions?
I love the absurdity of it all!
A very good example of a good Silly sub.
