Full Item Description
Made of the finest Moonsilver, Deadblow is deceptively delicate in appearance. Nothing could be further from the truth. Moonsilver is an incredilbly strong, naturally occurring metal panned from the rivers and mountain streams located in the Elven homeland. Moonsilver is a gleaming greyish black meatal much like hematite(lodestone). The head of the hammers 8' long with a face 4' in diameter. The face has raised ridges akin to a meat tenderizer. The trailing end has a gently curved conical point. A 2' handle also of Moonsilver is carved to resemble intertwined vines, the upper third is hollow. The hollow portion of the handle is filled with Quicksilver, a dense liquid metal. When the hammer is swung the Quicksilver flows to the head adding to the crushing force of the blow, helping the Elven clerics to smash through the sturdy armor and even sturdier bodies of their enemies.

History
The War of the Elder races is now more than three thousand years past. The war began over a dispute over the mining rights to the fabled Moonsilver. The Moonsilver was panned from the mountain streams at the very edge of Elven territories. These mountains were the home to Mountain Dwarves, who thought they had claim over the topside as well as what was beneath their mountain home. The Elves believed they had claim because they had discovered the Moonsilver above ground while the dwarves toiled in their mine deep neath the surface. The Deadblows, ten in all, were made by the finest of Elven craftsmen. They were then delivered to the hands of ten Elven champions, clerics all. The hammers proved to be as deadly and as useful as intended. The war raged for eight years, coming to a grudging truce; explaining the animosity between the two races that exist today. Of the hammers only three survived the war and the intervening years. Two are still in the hands of the Elves as pointed reminders of the need to, on occassion,go to war. It also serves to remind of the futility of all war.

Magic/Cursed Properties
The Quicksilver in the handle add to the damage inflicted with the hammer. The hammer also bestows the ability to cast an extra domain spell per day.

This is a great idea. Just one thing is bothering me, the quicksilver is not actually a magic ability.

The reason the Quicksilver was listed under magic is because I felt it was an interesting way to add the pluses to the warhammer. I purposely left the exact number bonus vague to allow DM leeway.

Not bad Fearghus, but keep an eye on the spelling, there are more than a few misspells in the first paragraph. There are a few words that have been run together as well, so an extra moment with a spellchecker would be a good thing to try!

The item isnt bad, but I would like to know more about these sturdy foes that the elves were tenderizing, and why they decided to use the mauls rather than the traditional bow and sword.

Okay. I'll work on some more background about the Dwarves end of the war. It'll give me something to think about at work.

Now as to the reason for the warhammers instead of the same old same old for the Elves. I like the 2E rules for clerics, whom these hammers were made for, stating that clerics can't use edged weapons. bludgeoning weapons were all they were allowed to use.

Now that you have the reason, I think I got the point of the comment. I need to put all that in the submission . OK. More head work.

Not a bad first submission. Looking forward to more of your 'head work' on Deadblow! and other stuff as well.

Extra for first post. It is a fairly good first submission. Thank you for not requiring me to post up the traditional 5 things you need to do to make a submission work.

A few more 'rounding details' that help express the history/ back story of the items would make this submission 'pop'. The write up of the weapon itself is fine. Good job. Bask in the glory. Now post some more.

    Go on...

There is a little more on the history of the war. Time is limited at the moment . More to come. Does this help? Need more?
