Re: OOC: Tales of Misadventure
#81Housekeeping, Part Deux
Speaking of Meleana (do you have any magic items?) and tertiary mundane items, your druid has a wicked collection!
-
Re: OOC: Tales of Misadventure
#82No I failed my magic item roll, remember? I do have a lot of mundane items. Would like some better AC above all. -

Re: OOC: Tales of Misadventure
#84If anyone thinks this weird adventure is way too far-fetched, you *really* won't like the next encounter  :respect:
For the record, it is the single greatest "monster" encounter ever put forth upon an rp page :P -
Re: OOC: Tales of Misadventure
#85It is fun -

Re: OOC: Tales of Misadventure
#87I'm pondering Brin's Silence spell a bit...
First question, is Thorgir an "unwilling" target? Thorgir, are you willing to be silenced? Or would he fall under the "oblivious target" category?....If the creature is unwilling, it saves against the spell, and if the saving throw is made, the spell effect locates about one foot behind the target creature.
Also, range. The whole chamber is 20x20, Melior would be silenced as well me'thinks. (i know, i know, "that wouldn't be a bad thing", pa-rum-pum :P) I guess his magic missiles are cast in less than 5 segments so he can get them off, before your Silence.
Now, if cast on Thorgir, would not the cyclops get a save anyway, as soon as he "enters" the silence area of effect?
-
Re: OOC: Tales of Misadventure
#88Muro: Nope. Only the direct target gets to save. Thorgir can choose. :P Melior should be able to fire from the door, I would think - Brin probably can't cast anymore without leaving the room, though. -
Re: OOC: Tales of Misadventure
#89That doesn't make complete sense to me. So it would never have to be cast at an enemy target in that case, but a rock next to them?
Hmmm.
FYI, "Slow" spell casting-time: 3 segments. Super-fast! pio-pio! -
Re: OOC: Tales of Misadventure
#90Is Ardhalas within slow radius? He is 15 feet away from the melee
That doesn't make complete sense to me. So it would never have to be cast at an enemy target in that case, but a rock next to them?

Re: OOC: Tales of Misadventure
#91Muro, I've actually been reading through some of the ODnD adventures and while it doesn't make sense it is how it's supposed to work. IIRC one of them has an enemy mage cast silence on a coin and toss it at the PC spellcasters to tip the battle in his favor. -
Re: OOC: Tales of Misadventure
#92Hoorah! I am free of the effects of this spell!
Slow (Alteration)
Level: 3 Components: V, S, M Range: 9" + 1"/level Casting Time: 3 segments Duration: 3 rounds + 1 round/level Saving Throw: None Area of Effect: 4" x 4" area, 1 creature/level
Explanation/Description: A Slow spell causes affected creatures to move and attack at one half of the normal or current rate. Thus, it negates a Haste spell (q.v.), has cumulative effect if cast upon creatures already slowed, and otherwise affects magically speeded or slowed creatures. The magic will affect as many creatures as the spell caster has levels of experience, providing these creatures are within the area of effect determined by the magic-user, i.e. the 4" x 4" area which centres in the direction and at the range called for by the caster. The material component of this spell is a drop of treacle.

The balance is this: If you cast it on a creature, it gets a resist, and the sphere is mobile. If you cast it on an object next to the caster, it's -less than one turn's movement- to leave the sphere. -
Re: OOC: Tales of Misadventure
#94Alright you win, but it did get off its slow spell before the GREAT SILENCE :P
Will post for all tonite tomorrow! -
Re: OOC: Tales of Misadventure
#95Poor Muro. All he wants is to throw out one measly slow spell and everyone tries to stop him! :dizzy: -
Re: OOC: Tales of Misadventure
#96Lots of rules lawyers in this game, apparently. :P Good thing I let someone else handle all rolls and what not. -
Re: OOC: Tales of Misadventure
#97wait till he hits us with the Bee holder! then it is his turn to lawyer the rules -
Re: OOC: Tales of Misadventure
#98Sorry, just my usual Sunday/Monday issues. Definitely back tonite! -
Re: OOC: Tales of Misadventure
#99This cyclops battle is turning a tad complex :P
Also, PC on PC violence. Wow! :ahh: -
Re: OOC: Tales of Misadventure
#100So far, peasants are the only victims ;)
Lumori doesn't have to backstab her, despite murdering the feck out of peasants. See latests post :D -
Re: OOC: Tales of Misadventure
#101Killed
Myhak and Yurhak (1st level fighters, just doing their job, with loving families back at the village :P)
-
Re: OOC: Tales of Misadventure
#102Better hope Meleana doesn't find out, or the PC infighting will reach new heights. :sharpen: Such an evil party... -
Re: OOC: Tales of Misadventure
#103This is one helluva resource:
http://www.ancientscrossroads.com/adnd_tools/dm_resources.htm -
Re: OOC: Tales of Misadventure
#104Killed
Lesser cyclops (and 6th level illusionist)
Found
funny-looking robe's belt tassle (?)
toe-ring (?) (encrusted with foul-smelling cyclops toe-fungus)
Spellbook (fight! fight!)
-
Re: OOC: Tales of Misadventure
#105Seneschal's spellbook:
1st level: light, unseen servant, burning hands, mirror image, read magic, identify, ventriloquism, feather fall
2nd level: wizard-lock (i'm an idiot for not having him cast this on the damn door :P), pyrotechnics, invisibility, darkness 15' radius, audible glamor
3rd level: slow, suggestion
4th level: dimension door
Identified Items:
The tassle is actually a Hat of Disguise
The toe-ring is a Ring of Protection +2 (to saves and ac) -
Re: OOC: Tales of Misadventure
#106Valadaar would love for Thorgir to get the ring, Thorgir, not so much... :)
-
Re: OOC: Tales of Misadventure
#107Interestingly enough, despite being magical the ring doesn't "size-down" to its wearer. So its too big for any elven fingers. It would be a bit loose on Brin's fingers as well. Thorgir would perhaps be able to wear it on his thumb. Somnak too. -
Re: OOC: Tales of Misadventure
#108Ardhalas states what the items are.
he only needs the spellbook, and will give it to Mel afterwards.
he suggests that Meleana gets the tassle , and Somnak the ring -
Re: OOC: Tales of Misadventure
#109I would prefer the nasty toe ring(what a weird thing to say), I need the AC.
Edit: Wait, it's too big for me? Oh rats... -
Re: OOC: Tales of Misadventure
#110I'll roll ya for it, Val! D% if you agree; highest roll keeps the ring!
Somnak just had his mouth in this guy's innards. Ge doesn't care about toe jam :p -
Re: OOC: Tales of Misadventure
#111Let me have the helm and ring is yours. I can use magic helm. Cannot use ring.
:battleaxe: -
Re: OOC: Tales of Misadventure
#112And thus was born the legend of the Erudite Barbarian, who traveled the lands, reading stuff and smashing his way to glory! -
Re: OOC: Tales of Misadventure
#113Now that he has a magic helmet, he needs a spear... -
Re: OOC: Tales of Misadventure

Re: OOC: Tales of Misadventure
#115We interrupt this program to bring you the following breaking news bulletin:
Echo and I got into some interwebz fisticuffs today. But we're both much better now!
The moral of the story is this: Even in PBPs, there is EMOTION!
We now return you to your regularly scheduled broadcast; Aquaman, Season 2, Episode 3, "The Black Manta." -
Re: OOC: Tales of Misadventure
#116Really?
Can people even get emotional at Strolen's?
(Self Irony) -
Re: OOC: Tales of Misadventure
#117Was this even worth the mention?
But, now that we're at it (again), the only correct course by me would have been to request to change my last action after I learned of the break chance, but before rolling for it.
So, my fault in the end.
Still, Caryatids are boring as frag, and fighting them without the opportunity to lure them into a gravel mill sucks too. -
Re: OOC: Tales of Misadventure
#118I thought the Caryatids were fun to read about, and I was glad Ardhalas wasn't the one to fight them with his measly arrows.
I say: Good job and well done killing the things. Too bad about the weapon, but, hey, lets hope we don't meet a pack of rust monsters, eh? ;) -
Re: OOC: Tales of Misadventure
#119Was it worth a mention? No :P But i was under the influence of vile alcohol
I agree, Caryatids are boring, or rather, i made them boring, but luring them into a gravel mill scenario sounds fun actually!
You broke your sword, i broke my toe last night. I think the balance has been restored.
