Re: OOC: It is Known...
#121Sorry for making you wait, guys. A new week has started and I'm back to posting. -
Re: OOC: It is Known...
#122no worries, Dossta! Welcome back. I'll post again by tonite or first thing tomorrow. Can't get my mojo going on a Monday...but "things" are about to start happening to you. :) -
Re: OOC: It is Known...
#123I have some dissent to mutter.
With Sil's char being killed off, I think things may get quite a bit harder for me in the RP. From what I remember out plots were intertwined and we also played a lot off each other.
I'm not sure whether I should speak so openly here, but I think it must be said.
I spoke to Sil on FB earlier, and I'm sure she'd like to join back in, however killing off her PC has made that difficult. -
Re: OOC: It is Known...
#124Perhaps a bit of careful reading is in order:
"Odrin was already moving. He noticed Kat's fingers still twitching in the mud. Not yet dead."
It's not _quite_ over, and there has already been one character who has managed to survive a near-mortal wound, and in the GOT series, one who has continued past a mortal one.
Although it is very grim.

Re: OOC: It is Known...
#125I was going to try pulling her up and carrying her away with us, but your char basically gave Odrin a direct order not to, Kass. I don't think that Muro will let her die, though. My guess is that she will be captured and possibly nursed back to health in time for us to mount a rescue operation. But then again this is based off of Game of Thrones: people die all the time. -
Re: OOC: It is Known...
#126Just thought I should let you know, Muro; Sil won't be joining us.

Kassy, are you kidding me? :D
Anyhoo, Sil is more than welcome to join!! As the wise Maester valadaar says, death in GoT is relative
Now where is Echomirage? -

#130Echo reporting in. -
Re: OOC: It is Known...
#131I had to go and edit my last two posts as some of the information was incorrect from the first few posts made so long ago. The changes do nothing to the storyline or altering it in anyway just flows with what was said earlier about Rufus. Its been so long I had forgotten a few things. -
Re: OOC: It is Known...
#132Good man, Mourn! -
Re: OOC: It is Known...
#133open question to any military campaigning experts :)
How large of a "food/support train" would a 400 man army need? In other words, besides the 400, how many more men, carriages, carts, tinkers, armor/weapon fixers, surgeons, "camp women", (:P) would make sense? -
Re: OOC: It is Known...
#134Camp-followers usually accompanied the baggage train and they often outnumbered the army itself, adding to its logistic problems. The number of supplies needed to feed an army were usually far more than what would have normally been required simply for the fact that supplies were needed for the supply network of wagons that followed the army.
Food (Basic foodstuffs, extra water, also foragers would be a part of this train used to scour the countryside for any edible food source to include the hunting of animals for meat.)
Medical Supplies (Limited of course)
Metal for weapon repair (Smiths of all kinds to include simple metal workers for repairs of wagons, weapons, horse shoes, etc. One smith didn't do all the work. often multiple types were needed for each job depending on the size of the army and baggage train needed to support it.)
The supply train also provided a lax support of mercenary followers. Men not specifically hired on by the military but were either offer services when they arrived or when they were needed. Most of the time this was a come and go type of service. Smart commanders of this type of army would limit the number of mercenary soldiers that could come and go for fear of double agents/ spies/ etc.
This is not all 100% historically accurate as I am simply rambling but its pretty close, and I realize I didn't offer a number as it is pretty difficult to put a number on a mass of people that could grow or shrink at anytime during the travel of the army unless it was 100% populated by military. -
Re: OOC: It is Known...
#135I think putting together logistical support for the men and their horses (feed, blacksmiths for shoes, etc) there would be a ratio of 3 followers to each soldier. There is no factual or statistical basis for this number but this is also Game of Thrones, not the Westeros version of Risk. A baggage train of 800-1200 would perfectly acceptable, and in that there are going to be cooks, craftsmen, retainers and entourage for leadership, prostitutes, animal handlers, and general followers on. Being that this is a Lannister venture and they aren't poor, there could likely be a large number of beggars and followers looking to survive off the largesse of the unit. -
Re: OOC: It is Known...
#136I hadn't thought of the Lannister aspect of it. Scras is correct it would be well funded and very large. More so if direct family were in command to allow for their success and comfort. That being said, the baggage train would most likely consist of a large population of Lannister loyal people so it would be opulence at its highest, even for a "bastard" at the command. -

I imagine that when the houses go on campaign, you would want to follow Lannister or Baratheon since they are really high up, and you would probably not want to follow a more dour and pragmatic house like Stark or Greyjoy since instead of washing pots or just picking up the crumbs you are likely to be pressed into combat -
Re: OOC: It is Known...
#138I would think the exact opposite of the Lannister/Stark contrast. I would think that the Lannisters would give the option of fight in our name or depart you rabble, whereas the Starks would not force anyone into combat seeing that as a form of slavery. And the Starks are not one for slavery. -
Re: OOC: It is Known...
#139Thanks gents. Baggage train will be added. Slight delay from Father's Day festivities...back to GM posts tomorrow!! -
