    Korley "Lannister" Hill (Scrasamax)

    The Bastard of Casterly Rock.

Son of Kevan Lannister, who is the dour brother of none other than Tywin, Korley is half-cousin to the Kingslayer and Cersei, and grew up in Casterly Rock, honing his weapon skills, drinking and womanizing. Unlike most notable bastards of the realm, Korley was not denounced, nor despised, nor ignored by his father, but merely kept at "arms length" from the rest of the legitimate noble brood.

A rebel with a cause, Korley's considerable talents with sword, horse, and lance, have kept him in the Lannister's good graces, and he has in fact been used as a "weapon" by his sire and Tywin over the last few years. Sometimes compared to his half-cousin Jaime by those who know such things, Korley is indeed deadly with both blade and tongue.

As the war of Five Kings raged, Korley was still at Casterly Rock, and not at King's Landing where the action was happening, and where the forces of Stannis Baratheon have recently been repelled by Tywin on the Blackwater.

Until a raven arrived with a message, not from his father, but from Tywin himself.

"Come to King's Landing. Have need of your particular talents. Make haste."
Lord Tywin Lannister, Hand of the King

Korley is two-and-twenty years of age, with the iconic, flowing, blonde locks of his famous kin, but plain, brown eyes, a testament to his bar-wench of a mother. He rides a cremello courser named Bastard, and is well known in the Westerlands for winning multiple tourneys over the years, as well as for his wenching ways. He is not well known in the East or the North as of yet, but that may soon change, if he has his way.

    Rheyna (Kassy) and Kat (Silveressa)

Called "Fingerdance", Rheyna grew up amidst the mud-slapped streets of Barrowtown in the Rills. She never knew her parents, and has survived by her wits (and with her knives--she is an uncanny knife-thrower, untrained, but posessed of some natural gift for handling and manipulating sharp objects--) for as long as she's had memory to remember. She makes her living as a common thief, and is quite audacious for her age.

A loner by nature, Rheyna's only friend is her lover and friend, "Kat" also a thief, and strangely an accomplished archer, from her "past life", of which she never speaks.

Recently, Rheyna had been caught red-handed by the city-guard for theft (a first time for everything), and sentenced to have her right hand chopped off for her crimes.

It was then, both their lives life took a turn in a new direction.

As Kat planned on how to spring her friend and lover from the local Gaol, before the "chop", she was approached by a huge axe-wielding stranger from parts unknown. The stranger, who called himself Odrin Tostro, offered to pay coin for Rheyna's freedom, and with Kat's help, accomplished just that, after some awkward negotiations with the city guard, and after the huge warrior assured Kat that he wasn't looking for a sex slave.

Now, the two young thieves have decided to accompany this new msyterious warrior on his own travels, away from grimy Barrowtown, to see where fate and destiny takes them.

Rheyna is seventeen years of age, with coal-dark hair (dyed from her natural white-blonde, as she always thouht her silver locks shone too much in the moonlight and attracted attention--not good for a thief) and emerald-green eyes. She is lithe, and slight, and constantly underestimated. She wears simple leathers, and carries at least a half-dozen hidden knives on her person at all times.

Kat is nineteen years of age, somewhat taller and more filled out than Fingerdance, with chestnut brown hair and "dancing" hazel eyes. She wields several knives and blades of her own, and also carries a curved short-bow, in the style of Greywater's crannogmen, along with several different types of arrows. Perhaps a hint to her past, perhaps not.

    Velaquo Silkblood (Echo)

A somewhat flamboyant mercenary captain from Myr, from across the Narrow Sea. Currently sans his once feared, three thousand-strong, Bloody Silks Company, a mercenary band quite known and once feared in the Free Cities and the Disputed Lands.

Recently, after a devastating defeat upon the Stepping Stones, during which his Bloody Silks were annihilated by an over-sized force--the combined forces of a surprising Pentos and Lys alliance--Velaquo has fled to Westeros, a realm he has always wanted to visit, having heard fanciful tales of their lands and royalty.

Arriving by boat near King's Landing, only a week removed from the Massacre upon the Blakwater, where the forces of Tywin Lannister, his dwarf-son Tyrion, and their new allies the Tyrells, fought back the Usurper Stannis Baratheon and his forces, Velaquo has found a city rife with intrigue and danger, and a bit of chaos. Perhaps he will leave his mark, before all is said and done.

Velaquo stands an inch over six feet, slightly stooped and thin, yet much stronger than he looks, with the instincts and agility of a panther. Dark-haired and dark-eyed, with a midnight-black goatee, and two golden teeth inside a wide, lecherous smile. He can--and has--used nearly every weapon known to man in battle at one time or another, yet has his favorites.

He is dressed in leathers, dyed dark-green, and a fine cape of wine-purple Myrish silk.

Ok, thats it for now! I'm kicking Rygby Ryswell to the curb. No one will play him.

Mourn, you will have a "special" character, which you and I will discuss in chat hopefully soon, and you will make your entrance slightly after the others have started.

Please consider this thread the new OOC.

I will start a new thread specifically for the game, where I will begin with a VERY brief intro to current events. Basically, our time frame begins precisely after the battle of the Blackwater, and last night's final episode of season 2 :)

If you have any last questions, concerns, ideas, thoughts, please PM them asap. We begin this evening.

Muro -- for those of us who know only a little of the setting, is there anything we should read to catch up?  Something like a campaign guide or a timeline?  Namely, what should my character have as "common knowledge?"
  6. Re: Throne of Games

    #46
Well, I will post an intro as far as the time-frame of events, whats what, and who's where, and all that, which will hopefully give your character "common knowledge". Barring that, just perusing a 'Wiki of Ice and Fire' is always fun :)  If you want specific stuff to read, I suppose i can make further suggestions (like Battle of the Blackwater, etc, etc, etc). Let me know.

The GOT wiki is also a great resource, and helps with putting faces to the names of memorable NPC's ;) http://gameofthrones.wikia.com/wiki/Game_of_Thrones_Wiki

Yes, good point, Sil. (Since you'll be interacting with people from the books in "real-time")

They look ok -especially if we just want to get going.

Not sure I like the intrigue rules though. I prefer role-playing to sort that stuff out.

Its been proposed that I do all the rolling, and post results of actions, to keep the story rolling. I have no issue with that. Speak now if you have a better idea.

Sounds like a quick and fair way of doing things, and keeps the adventure moving forth. Would be kinda neat to see a summary of the die rolls posted after a battle in the OCC section once in a while as well, just to see how good/bad the rolls went during a particularly climactic confrontation.  (could be fun to see if a lucky roll saved the day or nasty botch cost someone their life.)

Other alternatives would be using a die rolling program that emails the results to the GM, or rolling  on our own and trusting the honor system, but admittedly both of these solutions would make the combat slow a lot, and be a pain in the ass for everyone, especially in grand melees with 4-5 of us in the same scene so I'm all for letting you handle the die rolling part of the game and focus on the storyline.  8)
  23. Re: OCC:

    #63
I'm okay with you rolling and never even hearing of the dice.
  24. Re: OCC:

    #64
I concur.  Letting us focus on what actions we'd like to take, sans die rolling, will probably help keep the action flowing.

Do we get to see our character sheets, btw, or will you keep those under your hat as well?
  25. Re: OCC:

    #65
I find myself to be in merry agreement with those above me :)

I concur about rolling and said sheets...

We have a tie for nastiest ToG exclamation to date, between Sil for ___-hole and Echo for Sea of ____.
  28. Re: OCC:

Yes, will be sending out some semblances of character sheets, with the basics. Main skills, "attributes", stuff.

I think I just broke that tie with a ____-hole from behind reference. ;)

(On a side note why are we ___ out the colorful metaphors here yet speaking them openly in the game? :P )

    (I'm shy. Here we're real, there we're role-playing  :P)
  31. Re: OCC:

    #71
I'm not sure if this is because of my lack of world knowledge, or just general lack of experience with roleplaying, but I myself to only be reacting to events, to speech, etc. Not taking the initiative.

How can I improve on this? I just feel that I'm not doing as much as I could be.

Side note: This might not be the right part of the forum to post this in, but it seemed to be the most relevant.
  32. Re: OCC:

    #72
It's that way in a lot of games, both forum and face to face, the player/s decide on a course of action or to go somewhere/do something, then react to the GM's narration of the outcome of that effect, or description of the next scene.

Players generally are in control in that they choose where to go/what to do at any given moment, but they rely upon the GM to shape the world around them and describe the stage on which they take their actions.

In face to face games it takes mere moments for a GM to describe a room, or detail the quality of a sword, the response to  question directed at an NPC etc..

In a forum game the scene often hangs on the GM's input and narration of how their previous actions have effected the scene before players can take their next action. This delay slows the pacing some, (as does waiting for the response of other players in the scene before the GM can provide narrative, along with players waiting on each others responses.) but the story crafted in a forum game is every bit as rich and enjoyable as those in traditional TT.
