Perhaps we could pick a different freetext each week to be the "Text of the Week".  Everyone would be encouraged to write something related to that category and add as many subs to the freetext as possible, much as was just done with "Speak Like a Pirate Day".

This week was brought to you by the Freetext: Princess and the number 30...

That sounds like a good idea to me.

    Princesses or thirty, eh?
  3. Re: Freetext Fiesta!

    I think that it's a great idea!

(Aside: Wulf - or anyone - if you happen to find a submission missing a freetext, but can't edit it, please leave a note somewhere, and it shall be dealt with. Thanks!)

Actually. I had already promised to do that.

Suggestions?  I was going to push either Space or Library or Goblin this week.

Quote Wulfhere: "(I had no idea that I was issuing a call to arms... Princesses just seemed a worthwhile Freetext)"

Too late, the theme seems to be already chosen. Princess it shall be! :)

This isnt an official push, just and FYI, but there is a Halloween freetext. There are only two submissions with it thus far, both of them mine and both were inspired either by some Halloween prop or by the holiday proper.

Just thought I would throw that out there.
  7. Re: Freetext Fiesta!

Halloween is more than a month away, so we don't need to do it immediately... but yeah, it would be pretty damn interesting to have a few more subs with the theme! How about a week or two before Halloween itself?
  8. Re: Freetext Fiesta!

Some Citadellians have complained that the Quests are too short and they dont have enough time to make their submissions, I don't think 2 weeks is enough honestly.

I also expect their to be objectors to the entire Halloween freetext.

Psh. Not hardly. I'm probably the most conservative one here, and I think it'll be fine. Halloween is a good theme for spooky, freaky stuff. We need more horror subs anyways.
  10. Re: Freetext Fiesta!

    Well? What's this week's Freetext?

Halloween? Space? Library? Goblins? Something else?

    THE POWER OF THREE!

Since Moonhunter was the first to chime in, let's go with his THREE freetext suggestions:

Yes, THREE:  Space, Library, AND Goblin!

Let's see who can complete THREE subs related to those freetexts within this week!  (Not necessarily one for each freetext.)  Who has the power?

(Let's wheel out Hallowe'en next week.)

THREE!  THREE!  THr... (Wulf gets slapped by his wife...)
  12. Re: Freetext Fiesta!

    #12
so all three in one submission, or three using one, or a combnination
  13. Re: Freetext Fiesta!

    #13
Three subs, but ANY combination of the freetexts.  Perhaps three related subs about one freetext would be good.  Alternatively, one sub could be done about each freetext!  Maybe one sub that relates to two or three could be followed by two other subs that each relate to one!

  14. Re: Freetext Fiesta!

So, by the end of the week, we'll probably have seen one or two goblin libraries in SPAAAACE.

But, no, I'm ironing out an idea right now.
  15. Re: Freetext Fiesta!

Once you have established Goblins in Spaaaccceee (Say it, you know you want to!) and Libraries in Space, then all you need is Goblin Libraries...
  16. Re: Freetext Fiesta!

    #16
...But what about Space inside Goblin Libraries?
  17. Re: Freetext Fiesta!

    #17
I would like to comment DragonLordMax as the first to heroically step up to face the POWER OF THREE challenge!

His library sub is excellent, too!

If this is going to be a contest, wouldnt it make more sense to update the Subject as the following?

Freetext Fiesta!  Week of *date*, *Subject!*

And then edit the first post with info regarding the subject and the ending date for that week of submissions?

You hope to harness the creative power of deadlines, I see!

    Fine!

    FREETEXT FIESTA

UNTIL OCTOBER SEVENTH AT 7:07 PM! (Local Time)

    THE POWER OF THREE!

Yes, THREE:  Space, Library, AND Goblin!

Let's see who can complete THREE subs related to those freetexts within this week!  (Not necessarily one for each freetext.)  Who has the power?

    How's that?

Still didnt put that in the subject of the first post and the actual body of the first post ;)  :D :D

Nor do I need to, for the powerful minds of the Citadel's inhabitants divined that information instantly through their powerful telepathic abilities!

Hey, can I suggest a freetext for next week?

Sorry guys, inspiration isnt hitting for this one.

Why didnt I think of that!
  24. Re: Freetext Fiesta!

*snaps* howabout everybody who participates psots all the links, and then we vote on a winning submission.  THat person picks the next theme.
  25. Re: Freetext Fiesta!

    #25
Honestly, I don't think it would work very well, we've already got the competitive thing going with the quest, and I think it would miss the whole point of freetext.

Also, you don't *have* to do a sub with the suggested freetexts, you can do one for any freetext you want.
  26. Re: Freetext Fiesta!

    *shrugs*
  27. Re: Freetext Fiesta!

    #27
like "celophane" for example. I dont believe we have any "celophane" freetexts
  28. Re: Freetext Fiesta!

    #28
well, I was going to suggest Golem, but celophane is alright I guess *Starts thinking in advance*
  29. Re: Freetext Fiesta!

    #29
I think he was joking. I mean, you're welcome to do a celophane freetext, but I don't think that's going to be next week's. Plastic, maybe.

    But golem's not bad.
  30. Re: Freetext Fiesta!

    #30
actually, Celophane proboally could have something.  An evil roll of Celophane wrapping that suffocates mothers who leave leftovers in the fridge for too long perhaps?
  31. Re: Freetext Fiesta!

    #31
Methinks that one might be better suited to the "silly" freetext, but I suppose it would depend on how you presented it.
  32. Re: Freetext Fiesta!

    #32
Well, seeing as how its Sunday again, I suppose it's time for another one. We'd perhaps best stick to only one this time, as the "Power of Three" didn't seem to work very well.
  33. Re: Freetext Fiesta!

I did try to make a society of Space/time-traveling Goblin Librarians... but it didn't feel right. I think we need a 'Massage' freetext or some sort of scroll full of massage techniques from all the different humanoid races. But... I'm crazy... so.. who gets to choose the next freetext? My vote is for Massage, Portable, or OMG I WANT MORE TACQUITOS! ;)
  34. Re: Freetext Fiesta!

Having used my mystic, otherworldly powers (read a d6) to determine what the freetext would be, this week's Freetext is

    Massage

Go forth, and spread the kneading and rubbing, my minions!
  35. Re: Freetext Fiesta!

    #35
    Do you mean Freaktext? :)
  36. Re: Freetext Fiesta!

    #36
I don't know about that!  We didn't have much in the way of response, but we got an excellent Library out of the deal, along with an amusing Goblin sub.

I just wish that I'd had time to finish my space goblin sub.

Well, seeing as how its Sunday again, I suppose it's time for another one. We'd perhaps best stick to only one this time, as the "Power of Three" didn't seem to work very well.

By the way, NO MASSAGE!  This isn't that kind of fantasy site...
  37. Re: Freetext Fiesta!

Hey, I just use my mystic otherworldly powers (read: d6).

If you don't like massage, what's your idea?
  38. Re: Freetext Fiesta!

    #38
Of course, it's not my place to stop you from giving any Massages you want, but we had a suggestion for GOLEM, so I'd like to second the motion!  Let's unveil some golem subs in the next week!  Add the Golem Freetext to any relevant subs you have, and if the Muse strikes, introduce the world to an impressive new automaton.

Let's give this until October 17, then the next one will be Halloween.

(Get those spooky Halloween subs warmed up...)
  39. Re: Freetext Fiesta!

    #39
Great, my golem came two weeks too early. And we have quite a few golems already (X-Jacks and countless others). In fact, I should go and slap a freetext on a few golems that are crying out for one.

I kinda have an idea for Massage however, based on some things I have been reading about recently. An ancient art, one ripe for RP'ing ideas.

And if Dragonlordmax's library is any indication, I'm sure he'd do Massage proud too.

I love this thread for inspirational purposes, but really, I dont think picking/announcing any "one" particular freetext is all that necessary. Do whatever freetext you like!

(Re: Massage though, no happy endings!!)
  40. Re: Freetext Fiesta!

Perhaps I spoke too soon, envisioning the site immersed in lascivious massage subs...

Since people doubtlessly have ideas left over from last week that they haven't finished, perhaps we'll see Goblin Massage subs and Space Massages...

Perhaps this should be "Offend Wulf's Puritanical Streak Week", with Massage subs galore...
