#282Railgun.
Speaking from a person in the military whose job currently is the storing of explosive munitions...this is a horrible idea!! Not like you need specialists to stack and maintain a bunch of metal that is launched be electricity!? -

Which opens the door for adventure; a new weapon arrives on the market, advanced enough to make ordinary soldiers/specialists jobs obsolete. Rather then retire quietly a group of these specialists hires a group of runners (I.E the characters) to do a little sabotage of the prototype weapon and give them a little more job security.
Breaking into a high tech military compound and subtly disabling the new super weapon before demonstration day won't be easy, but that's why their being paid a small fortune, either in cred or explosive ordinance from the back room of the supply compound. 8)
On a non game related note I wouldn't worry too much about being out of a job any time soon, the cost of these things will keep them suitably obscure for a few more decades at least, especially with the surplus of explosive ordinance they already have stored up and ready to go. -

#290The Zombie Apocalypse is upon us!!
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/05/26/naked-man-eating-victims-face-killed-miami_n_1548359.html
The officer...approached and saw that the naked man was actually chewing the other man's head, according to witnesses. The officer ordered the naked man to back away, and when he continued the assault, the officer shot him.
The attacker continued to eat the man, despite being shot, forcing the officer to continue firing. Witnesses said they heard at least a half dozen shots.

Re: Interesting Non-Game Stuff
#299Those remind me of my trip down into the Underground Salt Museum. I spent half of the time admiring the place, and the other half thinking, "Man, this would be an excellent setting for a horror game." Pure darkness is quite rare, and I hadn't ever experienced it until I went down into those caves. -

Re: Interesting Non-Game Stuff
#303That is actually pretty incredible. More about the possibility of water near the Earth's inception, but the name is nice too. -

#304Aside from the political side to this, this map looks like it would be a great post-apoc map.

#305Ooh, my dinky little county (population-wise) gets to be the name of a state? Sign me up!
How did they decide the state names? -
Re: Interesting Non-Game Stuff
#306They look to be largely based on physical geography - Blue Ridge, for example, and Mesabi after the Mesabi Range.
The disadvantages seem a little optimistic: I don't think the good people of Hawai'i would take a liking to being in the same state as Portland, OR. As a post-apoc map, I'd separate Hawai'i into its own nationstate, or even the individual islands. But otherwise, it would make for a rad Cosmic Era map, circa-22nd century. -

#320Forensic Phenomenon and other weird death-related stuff
http://www.theverge.com/2013/10/3/4798898/human-brain-preserved-for-4000-years-after-being-boiled
After reading the story above, I ended up on Wikipedia reading some more, and here are some fascinating terms...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adipocere How gruesomely awesome is this stuff??!! And why isn't Corpse Wax a "monster" yet?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_erection Nuff said. ("Angel Lust", great name!)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coffin_birth Gruesome again, i know. But this should also be made into some sort of horrifying undead monster!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tache_noir_de_la_sclerotique The French name makes it sound more macabre doesn't it?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-suicide_smock I've heard of straight jackets, but not these.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Receiving_vault Can you say temporary undead storage?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lazarus_sign Is there any wonder people have believed in Undeath since time immemorial?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cadaveric_spasm Ditto.
