Ogre Raid.
#81Sentinel yelled orders as the trip took a week to reach the city. They passed the many bridges and let the humans pass before destroying the bridges and reaching the city. Now the ogres would be slowed down. When they reached the city all the Imperial Forces were ready and started to prepare the great city wall in which stretched all around the big city. The airships were loaded and they left with artillery, all 12 of the great airships. -
Ogre Raid.
#82The woods seemed erie as Akuma traveled through them. All the forest creatures ran from him, and the leave were still except for those in the way of his passing.
The vast number of ogres gathered on a single field still bothered him. What could possibly bring so many tribes together? It doesn't matter now. It was time for a full all out war and it looked as though the ogres were going to win by shear numbers. As these thoughts run through Akuma's head he tried to figure out how to stop the ogres. The only thing that he knew for sure was the open warfare would be a failure for the humans. Shadow warfare was the only answer but he would need to find others of what remained of his race to do it. And so Akuma took to the skies as soon as an opening open up in the forest canopy. When he was above the forest he headed north into the mountains where what was left of his people were left, trying to rebuild away from the othere races of the world. -
Ogre Raid.
#83The Ogre horde led by Snake Tail, made good time, reaching their destination only a couple of days after Sentinel's horsemen. The fact that all the bridges crossing over the rivers and moats that protected the city of Calan, had been destroyed did not bother them in the least.Having expected the humans to do this, the Ogres had come prepared with wooden logs and twine that they used to build primitive rafts.Within moments they crossed the waters bodies that had separated their quarry from them. Now they stood at the very gates of Calan it's self. -
Ogre Raid.
#84Dekkrokh ran up on the Calan wall and watched the ogres with growing anger as they were already there. He ran into the main conference room and walkd up to Graeme and Sentinel.
"The ogres are already here and are planning on how to take down the front gate."
He said as he nodded and ran back out on top of the wall again. -
Ogre Raid.
#85"Sniveling, gutless, worthless..." Graeme ranted while his younger brother Baird, looked on with a calm expression. "They burned the bridges, cut the roads, they didnt try to stall the ogres out on the delta where we had the advantage, we have ships, and the airships, and the god-forsaken cavalry and how many troops?"
"Quite a few." Baird said with icy calmness.
"And they are all held back because the old and feeble lords of Calan are afraid to get their hands dirty. Thay have all but given the Empire to the ogres. He snatched up the relic rod, looted from a Kasmir tomb ages ago by a daring Dejy thief. The rod had proven powerful beyond his expectations but it had limits that could not be overcome.
"Call the river." Baird said, looking like he had been sculpted out of wax for the pale color of his skin, the almost white blonde of his hair.
"They have already crossed the river, those old men have let them get a foothold on this side of the river, they already hammer at the gates, secure under their shields. -
Ogre Raid.
#86Sentinel thought more of this then most had thought he had. He loaded the ships with all the spare men he could afforad and flew them off away from the sight of the ogres. They came around the ogres at their back and landed some miles away. Dropping off their cargo were 4,000 calvary and 2,000 infantry, the White Guard of Calan they were. They were the best of the Caladin Military and many of them veterens of combat. They started to make their way quickly to the ogres, while Sentinel would have to hold the ogres off. Sentinel ran about the wall and ordered archers as they started to pound away at the ogres with artillery and vollies upon vollies. Giant pots of hot burning water was made above the gate and poured down upon the ogres and the smell of burnt flesh filled the air. -
Ogre Raid.
#87Snake Tail gnashed his teeth with rage,as boiling loads of water descended on the more unfortunate of his warriors.''Shields up,my men!''he bellowed.
At this command the Ogres raised their great wodden shields that had won them a great victory. This time too,the shields did not dissapoint them.Snake Tail listened with satisfaction to the curses of the humans on the battlefields above,as they watched the next wave of boiling water slide off the upraised shields of the Ogres. With this cover, the Ogres were now able to carry out the next stage of their plan.Stinging Scorpion,a small and wirry Ogre, rushed between the ranks of shield bearing warriors, until he reached the great doors of Calan. In one hand he carried a bucket of pitch.Collected from the bark of a certain tree that gew in the swamp,it was extremely viscous and would catch fire very quickly.
With an evil smile on his face,Stinging Scorpion doused the doors with the pitch. Then with a torch clenched in his other hand,he set fire to the great wooden doors. The effect was terrible to behold. As the Ogres moved back, the doors went up in burning flames and soon disentigrated. As the flames wreathing the charred remains of the door died down, the Ogre horde swept into the city. They were now in Calan it's self. -
Ogre Raid.
#88Sentinel had prepared the defense past the wall and a line of spears came up, making a phalanx all the soldiers got into position while archers hid behind the phalanx launching vollies into the ogres while the calvary made the flanks. Sentinel himself was on the left flank yelling out orders to the men. -
Ogre Raid.
#89It took almost a day and a half on non-stop flying tho get the the mountains, but it was worth it. As Akuma flew in over one of the mountain peaks he spotted a small encampment. Setting down about a mile away he slowing made his way towards the camp. Hidding in the shadows of the trees Akuma crept up on the camp to see it's inhabatants.
Suddenly there was a spear head at his throat and he was ordered to his feet. Akuma was still in his cloak, but as he rose to his feet someone from behind him pulled it off. He still could not see who it was that had caught him offguard, but when his clloak came off he several gasps. The spearhead was dropped from his neck, and three figures come out from the shadows as a dozen arms embraced him.
"Welcome home brother." they said almost in unison as they lead him into the little village. -
Ogre Raid.
#90Snake Tail laughed with contempt at the volleys of arrows discharged at his men.Protected by their great woodens shields, the Ogres sneered at the stupidity of the humans who insisted on repeating the same mistakes.Well, too bad for them. The Ogres were not going to try and equalize things by acting just as dumb.
Ignoring the arrows, the Ogres turned to face the real threat; The cavalry striking their flanks.Shouting war-cries,the Ogres rushed at the horsemen with their great long spears.Snake Tail himself slowly begun making his way toward the slender, pointy eared human that seemed to be commanding the enemy force. -
Ogre Raid.
#91Sentinel saw the leader and pulled out his bow, wood elves were known as the greatest archers and he was aboput to proove it. He notched his arrow and brought it up.
"Nothing to it."
He let it go and it flew out hitting the ogre right between the eyes. Sentinel dropped his bow and unsheathed his sword. The Anawaith Sword blazed to life as blue fire shot up its edge. He pointed it forward and charged his horse forward slashing and stabbing ogres while dodging them. He retreated back with the men and came to the second defense. All the Caladin Military retreated behind the artillery as they were covered by heavy vollies. Sentinel yelled out and the artillery was launched. Huge tons of stone and fire was launched into the ogres smashing into them as the infantry phalanx was reformed. -
Ogre Raid.
#92Prince Graeme settled into a comfortable position, the Kasmir scepter laid across his lap. The magic of calling the river dragon was taxing, but not beyond his ability, especially not with the scepter. He let the essence pour through the powerstone set in to rod, let it flow and mingle into the ambient essence of the chamber, find its flow into the loops and whorls of precious metals that lined the floor in precise geomantic patterns.
Lines of gold and silver, mithril and orichalum, soulsteel and adamant made circles within circles, the seal of the elder sign, a powerful, and potent ward as well as focus. Graeme struggled against the flow of the magic, equally directing it into the patterns, as well as keeping his head above the flows. There was a tugging as the flows sank deeper into the pattern, looping into themselves, drawing on the confluence of ley lines and seeking the strongest line there, the Calan river. The streams of silver and gold shivvered as if being frozen. The floating streamers changed to a pale silver color and then to a deeper hue, a vivid blue-silver as the pattern reached the lay line of the great river, the mighty delta...
*****
The river shallowed, the waters began to drop quickly much to the surprise of the ogres. Their great rafts settled on the sandbars and gravel beds, making soft crunching noises as their weight was no longer supported by the water. Soon, there was nothing to the river by the mud, now being churned up by the heavy tread of ogrish feet. Some of the artillery smashed into the riverbed, creating geysers of slurry that covered some of the ogres in blinding, if harmless river sludge.
A sound began to rise upstream, a rumble that sounded more akin to a roar than the rumble of water. The waters were indeed mighty, and under the threads of magic, now towered above even the heads of the ogres, shaped into the semi-divine form of a great serpent.
Its roar was surf on the rocks, the growl of a landslide. The green-blue head opened its mouth and shouted down the ogres, a monster of Kasmir legend, and ogre nightmare. The watery dragon lashed forward, its body rolling like the tide of the ocean, smashing the ogres lines, ripping their shields from their hands, breaking arms and snapping necks as their strength and stamina were as twigs before the storm of the river.
*****
Graeme grimaced as the concentration to hold and control the water dragon was immense. The beast was powerful, but had to be controlled, it would destroy the walls and the defences of the city just as readily as it would crush the ogres. He directed the rage of the river and felt it as it moved, saw what it saw, and knew the exhileration of battle as those closest to it perished, either crushed by the sheer weight of it, or drowning in its embrace. Little did they knew he too knew the feeling of drowning as he felt the entire mass of the magical serpent. -
Ogre Raid.
#93In the heart of the swamp, the Hidden One saw all that happened in the battle of Calan. He saw brave Snake Tail fall to the arrow of a cowardly assasin, just as his mentor had.He saw the Ogres fall back before the punishing barge of rocks and projectiles that the haumsn fired amillenia, they had worshipped him under many different t them, with the iad of great and terrible machines. He saw the survivors try to retreat across the river, only to be destroyed by the monster summoned by the same foul magic user that had murdered Crazy Hawk.
He mourned for every warrior that died that day,his heart going out to all those brave fighters that had fallen to the sly traps and devious tactics of the vile humans. But the victory that the humans gloated in,was but an illusion. It had taken him centuries to travel the portals that would bring one from his world to the mortal plane.Meanwhile, his beloved worshippers, the Ogres died in the hundreds fighting the humans. For millenia, they had worshipped him and his kind. Now he would be able to reward them for their faith by smiting their foul oppresors.
Unfurling wings as vast as the largest clouds, the vast blue dragon took to the sky.As massive as a mountain and covered by shining sapphire scales, each the size of a shield,he was a beautiful and regal avatar of the doom that would soon befall the humans. And the thousands of Ogre warriors that looked up at the great and terrible wrym that made the very clouds flee before it's magnificent and tremendous presence, knew that today the Ogres would win. -
Ogre Raid.
#94Sentinel walked among the ruins of the slain and dead as he sighed stopping. Thousnads today had died, both ogre and human. There had been no victory, but no defeat either. They had lost many men and it would have to be repaid. Even at this moment the forces had gathered, Dejy, Mercenary Legions, the two Abasil Legions, the White Guard, and the Imperial Forces had gathered together to make one massive army. Sentinel had to assign new officers to replace the ones who had lost and had been asked by the Imperial King to put a National Draft into effect. That meant that while the forces of the White Guard, Mercenary Legions, Abasil Legions, Imperial Forces, and Dejy marched to meet the enemy, the citizens would be trained to fight if they did not achieve victory. And so, all the atrillery, airships, and army marched out of Calan and into the east marching a vast army in which trailed into the distance like a snake -
Ogre Raid.
#95Dekkrokh had disappeared during the battle, having fought the ogres it had been assumed that he had been killed by the Water Serpent, he had almost. He had been drove into the water downriver and had survived just barely. He came out some ten miles south of Calan, weak and battered. He got up started to make his way back north. He whistled loudly and a hawk landed softly on his shoulder, he whispered little words to the hawk and with a shrill shreak, the bird flew off west. He had told it to make the Talaharans come to battle, for he knew if the ogres won, then they sooner or later would want more and would fight for it if need be. -
Ogre Raid.
#96The combined Hordes of the Ogres swept through the humans lands on their way to Calan, leaving a wide trail of devastation in their wake.Fury and the desire to avenge the death of Snake Tail, drove them on like machines. Each warrior looked forward to the day he would rip out the hearts of the sly and craven humans that had not fought with valour and skill, but who had employed vile devices and spells to slay many a brave young Ogre warriror,Snake Tail among them.
When the Ogres and the great wrym that led them finally encountered their human enemies, they would be very few of those vile things left at the end of it to bring back word of the wrath and determination of the Ogre people. -
Ogre Raid.
#97The hawk reached its destination within two days. The people were alerted by the secret message the hawk desplayed and all the spared man was about total 3,000, that they could remove from the eastern and northern borders. They were all loaded on ships and started sailing towards the Camalinin Continent -
Ogre Raid.
#98Calling the water serpent had bought the capital time, destroying the advance horde of the ogre Snake Tail. Graeme sat back in the high backed chair, looking into the fire. News was coming in from the threshold, where it was always the same. The ogres had come again, even more than the previous horde, and they were lead by nothing less than a blue dragon. Damned wyrms were irritatingly bothersome, not keeping to their own affairs and always seeking to undermine the works of humans.
The blue dragon would not be defeated by the water serpent, provided he could call it again, which he was not sure off. There was still weariness in his bones as he sat, resting. Baird sat across from him, a different sort of weariness in his eyes. He had not taken the elixer to control his prescience, and the constant barrage of foresight was taking a toll on the young man.
"I think you should take the elixer tonight, and get some rest." Graeme said.
"What if we miss something because I am clouded by it?" Baird asked.
"It has been days since your last dose and nothing has come of your visions other than chaos. That seems to be a likely outcome." Graeme said, sighing. "The emperor is on his deathbed, the legions have been defeated several times already. There is an Anawaithian ranger in command in the field, and even the Dejy are coming in massive numbers, but to what purpose? They too will be defeated by the dragon, and its ogre minions.
"A trip, to Kasmir, where the scepter came from." Baird said. "The ogres were driven back, almost into extinction by the Kasmir, and they have a fear of sorcery..."
"That is an idea." Graeme said, tapping his fingers thoughtfully on his chin. He stood up and summoned one of the many palace heralds. He instructed the youth to order the Vingilot prepared to fly, and the destination was secret. The herald nodded silently and vanished on swift feet.
"We will take the flying ship to the ruins, there are still things left unexplored there, things that I have put off in contention for the Imperial Throne. Perhaps now is our darkest hour, when we need what secrets lay within the most.
*****
The Vingilot was a small ship, not more than seventy tons in weight, and possessing only a pair of masts for travel. Graeme, Baird, and a dozen of the most carefully trusted retainers boarded the fair ship. The was a lurching sensation as the small craft drifted out across the broad morasse of the Calan delta, and oriented itself south by south east, and unfurled her sails. The ship flew swiftly on the streams of the sky, low to avoid the eagle-eyes of the blue dragon, who had already set upon one of the airships that dared to fly to high. Three days passed as the ship skimmed across the waves of the ocean, mere feet from the sruface of the water.
The coast rose to meet them, the land of the Dejy, and beyond, the jungle infested ruins of Kasmir. The scepter was warm in Graeme's lap as they drew closer to the font of its power... -
Ogre Raid.
#99Sentinel had pulled together all the available forces of Caladin that he ould. The airforce would barrage the dragon with ballistas, distracting it so that the land forces could fight the ogres. The Dejy filed phalanxes, for they were some of the greatest spearsmen in the world and the phalanx was one of their specialty. The calvary would form behind the phalanx with long swords as the mercenary legions formed the flanks, with their calvary as the archers hid behind the calvary. The dejy would take postions right infront of the archers to defend them. Behind the archers would be the very artillery -
Ogre Raid.
#100Out of the shadows a ship in which resembled a dragon came forth it was a magetic ship that seemed to float in the skies instead of fly. The Talaharans had gotten the message and werealready half way there. The ship was also a beautiful ship that could take a breath away at first sight, indeed Beowulf the old leader of Talahar was also the last dragon slayer had helped build this ship with the scails of a thousand dragons. It is far stronger than any other airships of its kind from Talahar and far bigger in size also. The ship is also enhanced with magic from the elves on many differen realms and when it was brought back to Talahar the Talaharan men and women helped to increase this magic.
The ship carried at least 3,000 men not counting the crew and it settled itself in the Caladin shipping bay as the doors opened slowly the men marched out in rows for the size of the doors was meant to capture dragons by the twelve. The men marched in colomns to meet the Caladin men waiting for reinforcments. The captain of the airship made all checks to see if anyone was left in board and then closed the doors and soon disappeared into the night sky.

The captain of Talahars blade masters walked up to Sentinel and then replied.
"Are you the one who called out for help from Talahar?" -

#101OOC:When are the Ogres supposed to meet the armies of Caladin in battle? -
Ogre Raid.
#102The great city, still awe inspiring even though it had already been devoured by the jungles, and time. The stones, black and pitted with time crunched under Graeme's booted soles, the sound strangely amplified by the sheer emptiness of the ruin. Baird, and the rest of the men followed close behind, but not so close as to disrupt his concentration. The hearthstone in the sceptre strobed with light, the manse from which it had sprung was close, and stronger now with less distance.
It was a ziggurat, a stepped pyramid of the same jet black stone, the gold long since defaced and stolen by brave looters. He mounted the steps, seeking to the top of the structure, feeling the primal flows of power that it concentrated into a single point near the very apex of the stone structure. He was close to winded by the time he reached the top, well above the leafy green heads of the jungle trees, still defiant and proud though the men and women who labored and ruled, lived, laughed, and died in the city were long since ashes in their graves.
The altar was undisturbed, still singing with the song of essence drawn from the deep places of the earth, primal and strong. It was this magic that forced the stone, and earth to do his bidding, this great resonance. He stepped onto a platform and spoke a word of power, and the platform descended rapidly into the bowels of the edifice, into the sorcerous laboratories, and jail cells for their experiments, and their libraries of arcane lore. All of this he had found by accident, but had also discerned and broken the codex of their language and read their tomes and grimoires.
It was forbidden for the books to leave this place, to do so activated powerful warding spells to slay theives, and in desperate action, destroy the book if possible. The Kasmir were very cautious about how far their wiorks could become known. He sat at a stone desk older than the imperial city, and opened a book older than the table, preserved both by magic, and the natural dryness of the chamber.
He found what he was looking for, a spell terrible and dark. He would need to gather special ingredients, and perform a powerful spell to enact it, but it would lay the ogres low, depriving the dragon of its strongest servants.
"Baird. I am going to need several items from the ship, have the men bring the canopic jars, and the specimens of ogre." Graeme said as the rest of the men filtered into the chamber. Baird only nodded and retreated back to the ship with a pair of porters. They returned with the racks of jars, which the Prince sampled and drew out wads of strange herbs, and powders of strange colors and smells. With the various sands and powders he created a circle of protection, and invoked the greater maidens of destiny, as the men left the chamber in a haphazard fashion.
In the center of the circle, overlain with lines of charcoal, and blood lay the skull of an ogre, the insides still moist from the boiling pot that took the meat from the skull. Graeme intoned the words of power from the black grimoire, not haivng told Baird of his plan. Baird would not have approved, and would have tried to talk him out of it, but he couldnt be hemmed in by such sentimental values at the moment, he had to act before everything that he knew was washed away by the great horde of the ogres, and their draconic master.
the skull glowed with the sickly palor of barrowflame, the fire of the underworld, as he invoked the Maiden of Endings, the Queen of Death. He invoked her power to bring plague upon the ogres, to lay them with weakness, bloody sweat and fever, and end their lives with the grip of convulsions. Let this malady terrible and black be restrained to only that which is ogre, let not it tarry into the breath of those who are human. Once the ogres feared the Kasmir, it was time for them to fear the Calan. -
Ogre Raid.
#103That day, a terrible malady overtook the ogres, halting their march and l,laying many of them low in thier tents. From above, the One saw everything that happened and immediately recognized the plauge running through his warriors as a spell of evil cast by the dark mages of the humans. His blood boiled as he thought of the thousands of brave warriors that would succumb to this foul curse if nothing was done. But he the One,once Hidden, now come to lead his beloved Ogre Clans to victory, would do something to save his brave and proud warriors. There was no spell cast by a human that he could not dispell. After all, what human could hope to defeat a being such as him who had walked the astral planes among the feet of the very Gods themselves, while the humans were still naked apes.
Alas,in years long past,he and his brothers been unable to do anything as the vile Kasmir used their foul arts to slay so many of their beloved Ogres. The demons and angles,be they cursed forever, had grown jealous of the love and devotion that the mortal Ogres had showered upon the dragons.Consumed by envy, they had appealed to the dark God of evil,Chamo,to bind the great dragons for 8 millenia. As this time passed, their beloved Ogres suffered great hardship at the hands of the foul humans, first the Kasmir, then their heirs, the arrogant and vain glorious Calan. But now that time of bondage had ended.
And the One would be the first of the great wryms to lift the Ogres out of oppresion and give them the liberty that this noble race, beloved of the dragons, deserved.Starting from now.Summoning the vast storehouse of energy that lay within him,he rumbled the ancient words of power, appealing to lovely Nerath,Godess of Healing and Dragons,to show him the nature of the fell plauge that troubled the Ogres.Soon he recieved a vision of a sickly geen mist enveloping the Ogre encampment. This had to be the enchantment that was troubling the Ogres. With a last chant,he delivered a massive force of healing power that sent the evil spell of disease fleeing the way the cowardly hyena flees before the proud swamp boar.Far below,a ragged cry went up from the Ogres who stumbled out of their tents to thank the great wrym for lifting the foul plauge from them. And the One himself gave forth a great roar of truimph that carried on the air for leagues around.Storm clouds gathered around the massive blue body of the dragon,as the very elements celebrated with him.
Far away, the humans who heard the great cry of victory, trembled and cringed as the dragonfear swept through their ranks, with some of their top commanders and generals even fouling themselves out of sheer terror. Many soldiers simply ran in the direction the army had come from, their superiors too struck by dread and horror to stop them. -
Ogre Raid.
#104Graeme rested in the great chamber of the black ziggurat, a cool cloth pressed against his head. He saw the arcs and whorls of green light that danced around the ogre skull waver, and then snuff out like a candle caught in the wind. The skull crumbled into ash on the altar, and was gone. The lines and tracings of magical powders hissed and evaporated, burning like water on a hot griddle. He sat bolt upright, a look of horror on his face, what force could have undone his spell with such ease.
He stepped onto the lift and spoke the word of power, and the lift carried him again to the top of the tower. He stepped off onto the black stone, and looked north-west towards Calan, no so distant that not even the smudgesmoke of war could be seen. He let the trickle of power needed bubble up from his own reserves to initiate sight beyond sight. His eyes, now seeing what was beyond seeing, looked upon Calan, seeing the dragonship, and the brave but perhaps foolish soldiers of Talahar arriving. He saw the ogres rejoicing, their arms in the air, faces lifted up in supplication to a greater power, and then the blue wyrm himself. The dragon looked smug, as all of their kind do, but there was an aura about him, it was the DRAGON! The damned beast had undone his spell.
He stormed back into the ziggurat, flinging open books, the Kasmir had delt with the dragons, had found someway to deal with them. All he had to do was find it. He searched for hours, only taking a small measure of food for his troubles, running any who sought to bother him out. After nearly a day of searching the library, he found it. The Kasmir had struck a pact with the god of sorcery and might, Chamo, to place the great beasts in bondage for a measure of 8 millinia. The pact could be struck again, but there was a price that had to be paid for the pact, something that would suit a god now known as evil and black hearted. Graeme looked up from the book, his lantern burning low. The price was high...very high indeed. -
Ogre Raid.
#105The blade mases laughed at the roar from the dragon coming from the ogres camp as they watched all of the other men tremble.
"I am sorry to say but it looks like your men are afraid of the dragon, sir."
The captain said as he then made a motion with his hand and four of his archers walked up to him.
"I would like it ifyou joined Caladin's flanks on the hill top."
*****
Dekkrokh heard the mighty raor for he was so close and then started to a trot and then to a full out srpint on his way across the open field her would hide in the tall grass everytime he would here something unusuall till he made his way to the desicrated doors of Caladin.
"What did I mi...."
He stopped when he saw the Talahar reinforcements and then smiled as he walked to the captain.
"I see you have gotten my letter for help that is good."
He said as they gave each other the forbidden shake of Talahar.
"Yes I see that you are still alive that meens that the training we gave you paid off now didn't it."
The captain spoke laughing. -
Ogre Raid.
#106The army formed ranks. Some 100 meters out towards the area was the ogre encampment. They army formed what they had trained and Sentinel mounted his horse. He galloped over to Dekkrokh.
"I am putting the Talaharan Commander in charge of the airships. Tell him to bring that dragon down or it will be the end of us all!"
Sentinel that galloped toards the archers and artillery.
"Burn their encampment down and give them a fire volley!"
The obeyed and then he galloped towards the front of the calvary where the Dejy were forming the phalanx already. Their spears were 15 feet long, able to repell anything that came in reach of them. Another volley of arrows filled the sky with artillery as well, slamming into the encampment and burning the tents as well as the men. The airships took to the sky and suddenly they fired their ballistas, arrows built two feet wide and five feet long, sharpened to a fine point of iron. They fell to the sky, some striking their mark, some coming short and falling into the ogres. -
Ogre Raid.
#107Dekkrokh smiled and then went and talked to the captain of the army.
"Make your able bodied blade masters join the dejy."
The captain nodded and then made another movement with his hand and the blade masters walked in formation their giant metal kite sheilds protecting them fom arrows.
The captain then walked over to Sentinel and said.
"We have a present sent from our new king I hope you will like."
He then looked at two of his men and nodded and hey went off and came back with to carages filled with metal kite shields.
"Kite shields from Talahar as a present for your alliance."
He replied smiling as they were the only two talking other than Dekkrokh giving out orders. -
Ogre Raid.
#108The Ogres screamed in agony and rage,as the fiery human weapons slammed into them, bringing quite a few of them down and setting many of their tents on fire. Then suddenly the pregnant storm clouds that had been gathering in skies, released their great loads.A massive downpour of rain came down, instantly dousing the raging fires that threatened to devour the Ogre encampment. The screams quickly changed into savage and proud cires of joy.Nothing could defy the power of the One,they knew. The humans with all their cunning machines and spells, could nothing that could truly thwart the great wrym that had come from the astral relams to save the Ogre people.
Beating his great wings,he opened his great maw and spat great bolts of lightning that streaked towards the airships sailing towads him, reducing a great number of them to charred wrecks that plummeted down on many of their own soldiers. The remaining airships were blown away helplessly,as he flew towards the advancing human troops with their precious artillery. With a booming laugh of contempt,he rained down a deadly rain of lightning bolts on the humans massed below him. What did he care for the fact that many of them discharged ballistas at him?To a being of his vast power and size, these oversized arrows were but pin pricks that failed even to peirce his azure scales that shone like blue fire in the darkness of the night sky. Those wise enough to realize that they could do nothing to hurt this winged dealer of death, broke and ran, abandoning the great machines they had foolishly put so much of their trust in.
Now the Ogres streamed out of what remained of their encampment, yelling war cries, ready for battle.Weilding their great spears and shields, they charged into the ranks of the humans, knocking aside their absurd kite shields with great powerful thrusts and forced the humans back, step by bloody step. The One himself made things very difficult for the overconfident, cocky humans,by continuing to bring down the few airships dumb enough to try to go after him on the human forces. -
Ogre Raid.
#109Sentinel galloped kept the army in formation as kept the phalanx, still. Many an ogre died falling into the spears as the humans pushed back into the ogres, they could neither gain a foot, nor loose one as the calvary kept them in place, but the ogres were draining them, more stamina and far stronger then the humans. But the valiant Dejy kept them in place, fighting with all their strength to quell the ogres, for the Dejy hated the ogres more then the Caladin men, for the Dejy had inhabited the continent longer then the Kasmir had. -
Ogre Raid.
#110The captainTalahar airship fleet smiled ad then pulled up his arm and let it fall as the dragon slayers were sent hurling at the dragon from the ballistas. The dragon slayers fell on top of the great dragons back and then with their mighty swords they stabbed under the dragons scails and into its precious skin under the neck and then they started to move closer to its head ripping its scails off and then making the mighty beast fall to its death below.
*****
Dekkrokh also raised his arm and let it fall as the Talahar archers sent out volles finding there marks into the ogres vital organs.
"Keep firing men show no fear for these horrible foul creatuers show them no mercy for if they get past the phalanx they will show you none." -

#113Sentienl whistled and yelled out for the phalanx to fall back. The phalanx did this quickly while being covered by vollies of arrows and what was left of the artillery. They came behind the calvary and the calvary rushed through using the weapons that were designed by Graeme, the pilium. The through them and they went through the great shields of the ogres and pierced them, cutting off limbs, stabbing into chests, and vital areas. The calvary fell back and the infantry threw spears and piliums into the confused ogres, killing many of them. Then the dejy formed ranks once more and started thudding the butts of their spears against the ground. So many were the dejy that the ground shook as they roared yelling at the ogres. But the most terrifying sight of all were the chariots. They had been hiding behind a small tree line and out they came stremaing, a thousand of them. They had on the axles of their wheels, made long blades that spun with the wheel. On top of the chariot were three men with enough piliums togo around. They cut through the ogres leaving bloody trails behind them as any who survived were killed by piliums. The chariots drew back with the rest of the arm and the a huge flag on a pole that had to be held by four men races in the air. On a black background with gold letters, it said TRUCE. Sentinel wanted to end this battle with as many lives as possible. He galloped infront of the army and yelled out to the ogres who were already forming.
"I call a truce! Let us end this bloodshed and let me talk to your dragon!" -

#114The Vingilot cut across the skys as fast a diving hawk, her sails trimmed tight, and howling in the wind. There was a storm buring over the capital, filling the sky with bolts of lightning. Prince Graeme stood on the foresail yardarm, his eyes oepn, searching for his foe. He drew back in shock, it was immense, not some lowly crawling serpent, but a divine dragon.
The air was thick with the smell of blood, and the smoke from the ruined airships of the Imperial armada. Their great size had become a liability in this strong weather. Undaunted, the Vingilot bore on into the storm, daring its wrath with its own defiance.
"My name is death, and Divine One, I come for you." Graeme said as the graceful ship banked hard to avoid a jagged bolt of lightning. He hefted the spear, taken from the ruins of ancient Kasmir, a holy, or unholy blade, that had once before tasted the blood of dragons, though there was not great sorcery placed within its iron head, nor in the forging of its edge.
In the ancient days of the mighty Kasmir, there was a terribble war with the dragons, one that ended when the dragons were banished for eight millenia. An unnamed hero, forgotten after 8000 long years had carried the same spear in his hand, the iron head blessed with the seal of the crawling chaos Chamos.
The hero had died, but not before cutting the heart of a divine dragon, also left unnamed, though depicted in colors of gold and tawny brown. Graeme had prepared the ritual, attaching a new shaft to the iron spear point, and annointing it with his blood, and renewed with the pact of Chamos, one that would make Calan as great as Kasmir.
Now was the time of the Glorious Battle, for it was the way of things that the two two should face one another in combat.
"Hard astarboard, make your keel heavy and your nose light!" Graeme shouted. At the helm, the first mate drew on the control rudders of the ship, and she rolled onto her side, as in a tight turn, but she rose instead, still in the cutting turn. Graeme felt the sureness of the lifeline tied around his waist, and secure to the haft of the spear. He let the rope out a bit, and moved farther out on the yardarm, his coathardie flapping in the wind like a banner.
"Above the wing! Above the wing!" he shouted. The ship cleared the forward edge of the giant blue wing, but one of the rudders clipped the beast as it passed, shattering the rudder and tearing it loose from the ship. Graeme struck, extending the bladed edge of the spear with as much force as he could, but not letting it fly. The edge ripped into the membrane of the dragons wing, ripping the thinner, unarmored flesh. He shielded his face as the bowspirit of the ship snared in the rising membrane of the wing.
The wooden spar shattered, and the entire ship shuddered as it grounded against the rising wingbeat of the dragon. Were the Vingilot in water, sh ewould capsize, but instead she rolled, snapping the sweeps and yard arms off as she pitched. Graeme lept from the yard arm he perched upon as it broke under the weight of the ship. The lifelin caught, saving him from being lost over the edge of the ship, but he was still caught in the wake of debris from the ruined Vingilot.
The ship cleared the wing, raining behind it a storm of shattered wood, and fouled rope and sail. Graeme drew himself up on the lifeline, spear still clutched in hand. The Vingilot, mortally wounded righted itself, and the helmsman struggled to hold her on a steady course, even though one of the wooden spars had skewered him through the gut.
"I can get her on the ground my prince, but she will never fly again." the helmsman said, wiping a trickle of blood from the side of his mouth.
"I commend your courage." The Prince said. "Have no fear." He watched as the wounded ship fell from the heavens, nursed along by a dying helmsman. The ground rose swiftly, but to his commendation, the ship survived the landing, ripping a deep furrow in the earth as she slid to a stop, a mess of creaking timbers and ripped sails.
Graeme lifted himself from the deck, and held the spear ready. The dragon would be seeking him shortly. -

#115The Ogres had witnessed all that had happened in the skies above. And the sight of the One being hurt,no matter how slightly, had drivn them mad with fury.''Truce?''screamed the old warrior that had been with the Crazy Hawk the day he had fallen. ''You dare speak to us of a truce when one of your foul mages attacks the One?I don't what your game is human, but you will not walk away victorius this day!The courage of our warriors will truimph!''
Meanwhile, the One was oblivious to all that went on between the two armies. His focus was soley on finding the cursed human that had wounded him with the relic. The relic that all his kind remembered. With that dread weapon, the vile Kasmir had succeeded in banishing the great wryms for 8 millenia. So you are the magic caster that has plauged my warriors for so long with your dark arts,he mused.Perhaps you think yourself heir to the old masters of this land who in their arrogance, tried to use their magic to controll the very Gods themselves.Fool.Things may have come a full circle, but this time the dark arts will not defeat my kind. The great wryms will return, for I will be victorius. And the children of the swamp ,our beloved Ogres as you call them, will no longer be the slaves of the humans. -

#116Out of the shadiws stoo a man that age had took its hold of he was in his fifties but was yet older than he looked for he was the reincarnation of Lord Sky te very same dragon slayer that had killed the Dragon emperor himself an mere 10,000 years ago and he held the very sword that bread life to the dragons The Enlanzer in his grasp as he watched the battle a ways from the field with amazement as the ogres showed no mercy and neither did the humans.
Amazing the ways of them both are just amazing.
He said to himself and to his students that had followed him there as mercenaries. He looked back at his leading officer and then asked.
How many men do we have?
He asked as he looked back at him a grim smiled pursueing his vague face.
About two thousand, sir.
He said as he looked around at the men and then back to his mentor.
Good that should give you all many training hours to fight in this battle if either side accepts. First we shall ask the ogres and if they do not let us fight with them then we shall talk agreements with the humans.
He said as he pointed out two of his fastest riders and sent them down to meet the ogres.
They got there within mere seconds from the great steeds they had. The leading man jumped off his horse and thn walked up to the commander.
"M'leige I have come to ask if you would let my men and I have the privelidge of fighting next to your ogres and this is a question by our mentor Ressalekh Faalithet. So will you let us fight with you in this blood raining war of yours?"
He asked still kneeling before the ogres over lord. -

#117''You would fight against your fellow humans?'',the old warrior asked with great astonishment.''But then again, you are not of this land are you?'',he continued.'' Perhaps you like us,have some personal score to settle with the foul Calan? But regarding your offer.Though my heart screams at me for even allowing a human to come this close to me without smiting him down,my instinct tells me that we need all the help we can get,or risk being overrun by our foul oppresors. My warriors and I accept your offer of help. But be warned human, that if you plan treachery, none of you will survive. You have my word on that.'' Ignoring the shocked gasps of the Ogres,he beckoned for the strange humans to join them. -

#118Sentinel saw the humans join and the great battle in the sky and when he looked over at the ogres on the other side, he saw two thousand humans joining joining them. This set off a spark in all the Dejy, and they yelled and cursed aloudly as Sentinel unsheathed his sword and it blazed to life. Blue fire running down it's edge. The Anawiath Sword had been the sole prize of the Rangers of Anawiath, having been taken from the ruins of Kasmir 3,000 years ago, people believed the weapon to be once made by the Smith Gods, who gave it to the Salinin, a people of an island in the black sea, but when the Salinin went to war against the Kasmir, the Kasmir took up the blade. And so it had fallen into the hands of a Wood Elf Ranger.
"Charge!"
He pointed his sword forward and the spears lowered to midline and they charges, a wall of spears slammed into the ogres as the chariots cut up the flanks. The calvary used the piliums and the infantry went into hand-to-hand combat fighting with animals. Indeed, one Dejy, Sentinel Saw, jumped on the back of an ogre and with his fingers, gorged the eyes out of the ogre; so terrible was the fighting. Sentinel himself was knocked from his horse and he continued slaying ogres around him -
Ogre Raid.
#119Ressalekh smiled Sentinel had fallen into his plan and he set out his riders of the great elephants beasts only known to the Talharans. The riders flew down over the hill and hit the side of Sentinel's men hard as some of them shot arrows from the tops of the horned beasts. Ressalekh then drew his sword the great sword Enlanzer and it also came to life as he walked up to the ogre lord over looking the fight an then said.
"You needn't worry we do not commit treatury on anyone who we commit as battle companians. So now let me show you the power of my students."
He said as he let out a battle scream and his foot men walked up to him and bowed down.
"Go forth and bring me the head of the general."
He said and in mere seconds they were gone into the heat of the battle.
"Watch this I taugh this to them by watching other groups fight."
He said as his men made a small phalanx and began pushing the dejy back slowly but yet not as strong as the dejy's own phalanx. The archers started to fire fire volleys of arrows at the men and then an airship came from above and dropped off two ship loads of Ressalekh's own hand made sheilds.
"A present for you allowing my students to join the battle, I present before you one hundred percent blood ruby sheilds made by me there is enough to give at least four companies of ogres these incredible sheilds." -
Ogre Raid.
#120The old warrior blinked and then rapidly begun rubbing his eyes.Had the steady toil of battle finally taken it's toll, making him see that which did not exist? But no,there were simmiliar expressions of wonder on the faces of the other warriros who had seen the strange human war chief present his truyl wonderous gifts.''By the ancestors!'',he gasped.''Those shields will make us invulnerble to the spears of the Calan and their Dejy dogs!May the day of your birth may be blessed. Now I know for sure that we will win.Though my people have no great love for your kind, neither do we fail to reward those who came to our aid in our time of great need. When Calan falls to us,your warrios will get a genarous helping of the spoils. This I swear on my honor as a warrior! Now to battle!''
Giving the human the salute one warrior gives to another,he grabbed one of the ruby shields and motioned to the other warriors to help themselves.
Brandishing their new shields, the Ogres fought with renewed courage, smashing the Dejy back, who relaized with horror that their pillus were useless against sheilds made of ruby. Many of them threw down their weapons and begged for the mercy that was not shown. The chariots drivers like the Dejy, watched helplessly as their razor lined wheels smashed to no avail against a rock hard barrier . Then they too, were brough down by the great spears of the Ogres, screaming as their vehicles of death were toppled and brough crashing down on them.
And still the One swooping in the skies above, did not notice the tide turning in favour of his warriors,so obssesed was he with finding the mage that held that thrice-acccursed weapon in his hands.''Come out of wherever you hide, you foul abombination'' he rumbled.''Soon I wiil find and slay you. That evil thing you hold, will not win this time.''
