  1. Spiritbearers: Revival

    #1
This is a story someone else created, he did however give me permission to use it, I absolutely loved the story, but it slowed down and people quit being active so it died down. So give it a shot eh?

    Prologue

Ages ago several gods ruled over the lands of the earth. Each god reigned over a particular element and a particular region. For a time, the gods lived in peace with each other. Then, the mightiest of the gods, ruler of the heavens, created the race of humankind and scattered their numbers all over the planet, to live in each gods region and worship them. The other gods approved of this and provided for their humans.

The people and the gods lived in this harmony for an unknown amount of time, but, predictably, the harmony came to an abrupt halt. Certain humans began to cease worship of the god of their region, and worship a god of an element they felt was more worthy. Anger rose in both gods and humans at these traitors, and civil war broke lose among both.

Among humans, the bloodshed was horrific. The entire race nearly wiped each other out in their zeal to honor their god. The gods, unable to kill each other, tore apart the land of each others regions and killed their enemy's worshippers. If this were to continue, it would surely have meant the end of the world.

The god of the heavens and his worshippers were the only ones who remained out of the fray. The god of the heavens allowed the war to continue for a time, thinking that the other gods would grow tired of it. By the time the god of the heavens realized that the war would not stop, everything was on the edge of destruction. In a last effort to save the earth, he called his worshippers to build a temple of the purest metals. The temple was to contain a chamber inscribed with magical runes and sealed with the highest orders of magic. The god of the heavens then called upon all his power and hurled all the other gods into the chamber, sealing them inside until their dispute was finished.

However, the god of the heavens, having used all the energy he had, was to weak to maintain himself any longer. His body was destroyed and his spirit dissolved into nothingness. The chamber remained sealed and without the god of the heavens to release them, the other gods seemed to be trapped for eternity.

The sealed gods did not give up hope, however. They stopped their arguments and worked together to try to discover a way to open the seal. Ages passed as they thought, and the earth restored herself to her former state. Humankind all but forgot the gods, they only existed as myth to them. The temple of the sealed gods faded from memory, and became overgrown with the surrounding vegetation.

At last, the gods discovered a way to escape from their prison. They only needed to contact the descendants of the builders of the temple. Each god tore its spirit from its own body and forced it through the seal to the world of man. The spirits then reached to a descendant in a vision, telling them what must be done to open the seal and leaving their spirit in the form of an artifact. The humans were bestowed with the ability to use the powers of the god through the artifact. The gods had not forgotten their war, however, and many of the gods left other directions for their spiritbearer. Several gods planned assassinations of other gods spiritbearers, for if a spiritbearer failed to revive their god, that god would never be released.

This is where we start our story...

Anyway, on to the "character sheet". You will be roleplaying one of the spiritbearers, not one of the gods. Remember that the spiritbearers have free will and do not necessarily have to agree with the mission their god has bestowed on them. The sheet should be set up somewhat like this:

    -Spiritbearer Information-
Name: Karakus Dei (Usually go by Dei)
    Age: 32
Profession: Mercenary, Halberdier(Is that how you spell it?)
Brief Description: Dei has long flowing black hair, that he either keeps in a pony tail, or lets it hand loose. Dei has dark blue eyes. He stands about 6'1" and weighs in at about 195. Dei wears a tight white shirt, then a green vest over that. He has black pants, and black boots. A large black cloak is worn about all his body, usually tight about him as well.
Brief History: Dei was born into a wealthy family, in a large port town. He was at leisure as a kid, but once he started studying warfare and tactics, he couldn't get enough of it. He was fasinated by the whole subject. After training with many weapons, Dei decided to best get proficient with the Halberd. After Dei reached the age of 18, he acquired jobs for himself, as in security or escorting, things of that nature to gain actual experience in the matter. After one major confrontation, involving smugglers attacking a caravan he and others were protecting, Dei lost his control for bloodlust as he slayed the smugglers, he left his family soon after that to become a full-time mercenary. He's served in several armys and has been in many raids. He's learned to control his bloodlust, but hasn't lost his taste for it either. Daranis came to him after a raid of a small trading village, he told him of his situation and of what he wishs Dei to do for him, Dei agreed upon hearing that the god's powers would become his own. After travelling with Daranis for sometime, Dei became good friends with him, and has mastered his powers well. Dei has become genuinly caring for Daranis's position and wishs to release him for the seal inside the temple.

    -God Information-
    Name: Daranis
Element: Wind (the element can be traditional (earth, wind, fire, etc.) or nontraditional (venom, etc.)):
Appearance: Merely seen as a dark whirlwind with piercing green eyes. (species if animal, body features if human, gender, etc.):
Conjured Weapon: Halberd (one Spiritbearer ability is to conjure a weapon of the god, can be non-related with god, and can be summoned at any time, as well as dismissed at any time.):
Artifact: Small iron leaf, size of a man's palm.

Anyone can join this, but is someone chooses an element you wanted...too bad, choose another, post your character sheet then just post from then on out.
    ________________-

Dei lay on a hillside leading into an open plain, with forests surrounding it. He thought of his situation, as he had done so many times before on his trek to find this temple where the gods were sealed away.

Do not worry my friend, you are heading in the right direction towards the temple, You will find your way there in time.

That's not what I'm worried about, I haven't seen any other bearers since I've traveled with you this past month, I'm worried some may have made it to the temple already, and may be waiting to catch late arrivers with snares.

I doubt very much that that is the case, I would know if anyone neared within miles of the temple, and I assure you, there are none in the vacinity. And I should probably let you know that if there were another spiritbearer nearby you would know. The artifacts we bestow upon our bearers will rise in heat as more spiritbearers gather closer, but not a kind of heat that would burn you.

Very well then, I'm glad your with me, if I had to make this trek alone, I would go insane, I'm used to having men with me in my travels.
Dei took out the iron leaf from a pouch at his waist as he began to roll it from finger to fingin in his right hand, observing the artifact. Dei began to relax for awhile, he had travelled all through the night and all through today till now, which was midday. But his rest was soon interrupted when the iron leaf began to rise in heat, another spiritbearer was nearby...

    Pm me any questions.

(OOC: Thus proving that I have entirely too much imagination, and spend entirely too much time here.)

    Spiritbearer:
    Rhianne d'Artos, commonly called Ree.
    Age: 27
    Profession: Thief and Forger
Description: Ree is a tall, thin woman, with sharp, but not unnattractive features. She is also missing her left eye. Her remaining eye is cat-green. Her long, dark brown hair is usually tied back away from her face, with three or four small braids at the front. She dresses in loose, dark clothing, and wears the tarnished signet ring of her family. She walks like a woman unconcerned with the world at large, but will prove her skills with the blade she carries if pressed. Her right hand was crushed in an accident some years ago and is still somewhat deformed.
Ree is the last living member of House d'Artos, a minor to middling noble house. The only child of the last lord, she was never what was typical of a lady. She unfortunately took after her late uncle, a man who had served in the army for most of his life. She proved to have excellent swords-skill, and at an early age showed the dexterity that was to serve her well in later life. Her father was not very understanding, and her mother beyond reasoning with. Eventually, as it must, things came to a violent head in one of the frequent arguements she had with her father. No one knows what words were said, but Ree stalked out of the manor on that day, took her horse, and rode hell-for-leather to the city. She soon fell in with thieves, but some perverse sense of irony coupled with her natural genuis for the work lead her to join them. She also became an infamous master of forgery, and her skills of all types were much in demand among those who frequented the shadows. Two years after her flight, a man who had served in the manor sought her out; the lord her father had been assassinated. The servant had brought her the signet ring of her family. Ree, however, would not go back to a life among the nobility, a life she had always secretly hated. And so the family d'Artos vanished. Some time after that, Ree was contacted by the god Alminor, for she was the last of her line, the line of the spiritbearers. (She actually 'recovered' the artifact from the coffers of a wealthy merchant.) However, Alminor did not have much luck convincing Ree, for Ree had long since abandoned any kind of faith in gods. But she was eventually persuaded (although it took some doing.) The only reason that she was even interested in the first place was that she feels indebted to the god, because he saved her and a friend from being hung. That, coupled with an innate horror of incarceration (strengthened from experience), convinced her to help. Well, that and the promise of rewards.

    God:
    Name:Alminor
    Element: Fire
Appearance: He usually appears as a swarthy young man with violently red hair and glowing white eyes.
Conjured weapon: A longbow that shoots arrow shaped flames
Artifact: A red crystal was set into a bracelet of silver.
    ______________________________________________________________

Ree walked along the dusty road, quite put out with the world in general. I don't understand you, Rhianne d'Artos. There are many in your line that would have killed for this honor.
"Call me Ree, Alminor, I mean it. That's exactly my point. I never liked anyone in my family, save my uncle Karl who was killed in battle when I was eleven."
But you are of a proud and noble family. Why be ashamed?
She laughed mirthlessly. "Proud, oh yes. Far too proud for it's general health. Noble? No, Alminor. If there was ever anything noble about my family, it vanished a long time ago. I once saw my father, in a fit of rage, have one of the servants literally tossed out the door and told not to return on the pain of death. The man had five children, and had been widowed the previous winter. I walked in the streets of our family seat, and I saw a nine year old boy attack a passing traveller for a handful of coins. I later learned that the boy's father and elder brother had been sent to the mines by my own father, and they died there."
But you could have become Lady in your own right, and corrected those problems.
"You have been out of this world long, Alminor. I wouldn't have lived for two seasons before someone either killed me, or threw me out. And at least I know that I am doing some small good."
I am aware of your contributions to the beggars of the streets, child.
"The way I look at things, I steal for a living. I take things that I have no right to, things that others would frankly rather I not have. But at least I don't make an attempt to wrap myself in nobility and pretend that it is the natural course. I'm dishonest, but I'm honest about it. I've lost an eye, nearly lost a hand, and would have lost my life if it hadn't been for your meddling. Not that I'm complaining, mind you. But at least I know I did something foolish to deserve it. I know you're aware of the harm my family has done over the decades. How many of those people deserved it?"
It was an old argument. Ree couldn't decide if Alminor truly didn't comprehend her, or if he was merely trying to convince her of some obscure point. Either way, she was still annoyed.
The discussion was cut short. The bracelet she wore suddenly grew scorchingly hot. Fortunately, given the powers Alminor had bestowed upon her, it was only a mild discomfort.
Caution Ree d'Artos. Another bearer is near.
    "You think?"

    --Spiritbearer Information--
    Name: Uriel Wrathkin
    Age: 26
    Profession: Weapons tutor, Scholar
Brief Description: Uriel is often garbed in a plain, white, clerical robe. His hair is cut to two inches in length, in an average style. Since beauty is in the eye of the beholder, it would be lying to say he is handsome, but his face holds all the gentle curves and lines, lean and clean, though slightly pale skin apparant. His right hand holds some three rings on different fingers, altering styles, sizes and worth. His demeanor is pleasant, voice kind and his nature friendly. From birth, he had been taught various skills by his parents in hopes that their child would grow up to be a cleric, or even paladin. Uriel followed his parents dreams gladly learning laws, and of course, weapon skills - his proficiency bieng in the quarterstaff as he learned that all he needed to do was create an inpenetrable defence with it, and just await an opening. Things didnt turn out perfectly for him, though, much to his parents disappointment. He was simply too questioning of faith and in his own abilities to become fully fledged as someone so holy. But all the same, he made a sturdy living becoming a tutor, teaching the younger generations his skills, even imparting a bit of weapons knowledge to the youths. Yes, his life was pleasant, filled with happiness - a pleasant living, an enjoyable, gratifying profession and a friendly, loving lifestyle. Strange, then, how he has been summoned to free Caligo, the god of Darkness, from his imprisonment... The god did not come to Uriel with request. One fine night, Uriel was overly restless, unable to sleep. In the wee hours of the morning, A deathly, echoing voice throbbed within his mind, projecting images of the world, but warped - flames sprouted from the ground, Wind blew relentlessly apon the homes of people, avalanches occured, tidle-waves, unkown sicknesses, death, despair, anguish. The dead rising once again to torment the living... These images continued for what seemed hours, but when they finally ceased, a voice occured, ominous, deadly... This is the future, if I am not freed. Come to me, my chosen... Uriel then felt a small weight apon his chest and looked down to discover a single, pure black, metallic ankh on a simple necklace...

Well, this God certainly knew how to attract Uriel - a blindingly noble person - he does not wish such despair bestowed apon the life of this world - besides, this quest will make him feel as though he were a real paladin, just as he was never able to be - saving the innocents. Of course, he never questioned the fact that, in the coming weeks, with that black ankh resting proudly over his white robes, he could feel the very souls of people plus perform many 'dark' deeds, such as temporary blindness and manipulation of the light. It never had occured to him that the skills he was able to perform were similar to some of the images he had seen that night - Uriel does not notice the fact that he, himself, had been 'blinded' in his own desire to do good.

    --God--
    Name: Caligo
    Element: Darkness
Appearance: A pure black raven, sapphire eyes glowing dully.
Conjured weapon: Bladed Quarterstaff, if struck by it, will cause random effects, such as blindness, weakness confusion or otherwise...
Artifact: A black metallic ankh, 2 inches in length, on a thin, silver chain.

    ________________________________________________________

    Uriel... Awaken...

Uriel groaned, eyes sliding open and gaze shifting back into focus. He pushes himself up into a stand, looking around - he was on the outskirts of a forest. Strange... when he fell asleep he could have sworn he was lost in the middle of this damnable place... Well, that will teach him not to take the paths... "What is it, my lord?" He spoke his thoughts openly - well, there was nobody else around to listen to him, anway, and he felt closer to his lost god when he spoke aloud.

Others are near... Remember what I told you of them. Be wary.

"Yes... They want to free the evil gods which will destroy the lands... What if I kill them now...?"

Do not be a fool! they hold powers as well. They will obliterate you. What you must do... is trick them. Use deception, which I have taught you so well. Their gods may have lied to them, though. They may try to sway you by implanting lies that they are not evil... Do NOT listen.

"Yes, my lord." Aaah, he felt so honoured to have such a wise and powerful master. And thus, he walks in a random direction, moving out into the plains and peering around. As he walked out into those open plains and begin ascending a hill, Uriel felt a burning sensation apon his chest and gasped - the ankh! He shifts a hand to lift it off his robes to as not to burn through, but blinks apon looking down - it seemed that ankh was warm to his skin, but did not burn cloth... Hm. Either way, he now just continues walking up that hill, idly searching for the person who caused his emblem to ignite in heat.

OOC: This rp is still open to others who wish to join. No magic in the mage like sense, just elemental power of the gods, which the bearers can use. Your power is limited at first, but grows as the bearers get closer to the temple. Also, when your artifact gets warm, it isin't scalding, and it CAN'T hurt you, it gets slightly warm with one nearby and so on and so on, but the bearer can immediatley tell when the artifact is warmed.
    ____________________

Dei braced himself behind a tree trunk as he summoned his halberd. The halberd formed out of nothingness into his hand, Daranis had told Dei that all bearers could summon and dismiss weapons on command, and the weapon was of their choosing. Dei wondered what other weapons the other bearers wielded.

Dei sensed the iron leaf grow warmer, for some reason the leaf warming was imprinted into his mind as it happened.

    Yet another bearer?

Be weary, they may be bearers of gods who are allied with me, but they may be enemy as well.

    Your advice will be heeded.

Dei summoned to his a breeze on the wind, moving it faster. He then traveled on the wind, which he had done times before. It took himself to a sturdy branch of a tree, able to see the land below with good visibility, and there he awaited the other bearers.

Ree continued along the path, still seemingly supremely unconcerned. She hadn't even drawn weapons yet. The heat radiating from her bracelet suddenly increased in intensity.
'Ware child. There is yet another bearer in this place.
    "No kidding."
    I do not understand.
"It's called sarcasm, Alminor. Get used to it; I use it a lot. Never mind."
As you wish. ...Are you not going to summon your bow? This bearer might be an ally or a foe.
"Yeah, yeah, I know. I still say it would take a busy man to do me serious harm. But I suppose you're right." She summoned her longbow, which even she had to admit was a really nifty weapon. She didn't pull the string back yet, and so there was no arrow. "I should have asked this before, but they'll realize what I'm about, won't they?"
They will know you for a bearer most likely, if that is what you mean.
"It doesn't make much difference I suppose." She crested a small hill, with some trees nearby. One of them had to be around here rather close by, she figured. As she passed near one of the trees, some instinct told her to look up. She did so, and was rewarded by the sight of a man carrying a halberd perched on a branch. "Well. Hello."

Dei watched as a tall, thin woman walked up searching for something, most reasonably him. But she walked below him and looked up, seeing him. A slight breeze picked up, blowing the trees around them. Then, instantaneously Dei disappeared, and appeared behind the woman. He stuck the point of his halberd to her back.

"Speak of the god to whom you serve...Now, or suffer the consequences."

The fellow had suddenly vanished from the tree, accompanied by a sharp breeze, then Ree felt the tip of his weapon pressed to her back. She just stood there for a moment, then she said, "Now, are you really that foolish? Or do you want to die early?" A small trickle of flames jumped from her left hand to the ground; an instant later, a fire had sprung up at the fellow's feet. Having created a sufficient distraction, she sprang away from him and rolled and came up facing him. She pulled the bowstring back, and an arrow flamed itself into existance. She pointed it directly at the fellow. "I dislike talking to those with weapons at my back. Now. I serve no one, least of all a god. A fellow who calls himself Alminor offered me what I thought to be a fair bargain, and I accepted. Now, I should think you owe me the same information."

(OOC: Ok, I'm not quite used to this yet, so bear with me a bit and feel free to PM me with suggestions if I'm doing something wrong.)

    Name: Julian Beryl
    Age: 24
    Profession: Musician
Brief Description: Julian wears expensive dark clothing, but only because that's what he was given, he didn't search it out and doesn't have any interest in impressing people with his looks. He has long black hair tied into a ponytail, piercing blue eyes and a small silver earring in his right ear.
Brief History: Born to a minor noble family, Julian had everything he wanted starting at birth. He was educated by the finest in his family's home city of Redsand, given almost everything he asked for, and pretty much allowed to do whatever he wanted. Despite these possibly hazardous conditions(in the respect that most raised this way become spoiled brats), all Julian ever wanted to do was play or compose music. He learned six different instruments by the time he was 14 and in his mid-late teens would spend entire days wandering the streets humming to himself and listening to the street musicians play. He left Redsand when he turned 21 to travel the world and learn what he could about other cultures' music as well as introduce them to his. He stumbled across the artifact completely by accident while looking for a new instrument in a shop, and this quest for the Temple seemed a good excuse as any to travel even farther than he had originally anticipated.

    -God Information-
    Name: Selene
    Element: Sound
Appearance: Selene usually appears as a very attractive aristocratic lady in good clothing. She usually holds a small rod which is actually a finely crafted flute with a few small blue gems inlaid on it.
Conjured Weapon: Twisted oak staff inscribed with silver runes
Artifact: A silver flute which never goes out of tune.

Julian blows the last few notes of the song out of the flute then lowers it from his lips.
That was lovely, Julian. I certainly chose a good traveling companion. This will be a rather long journey and having your music will certainly make it more enjoyable.
"Thank you, Lady Selene. I look forward to this trip. Meeting the other Bearers will prove interesting and I shall hopefully learn a lot."
Just be careful. Not all of them will be friendly to you, it just depends on which gods' Bearers you run into.
At that moment, the flute began to grow warm.
Be wary, young musician, some of the other Bearers grow near.
Julian slips the flute into his belt, then silently slips over the small hillock to his left, spying two figures in the distance. A twisted staff materializes in his hands and he creeps closer. With a slight wave of his hand, the voices are amplfied to his ears and he can hear a female voice arguing with a male's. He crouches in the shadows, waiting a moment before joining the pair...

Dei smiled at the womans rough, independant character. He hadn't met many woman like this one. "Alminor...God of Fire. I am Karakus Dei, companion to Daranis, Lord of the winds...." Dei's gaze turned behind as he felt the presence of another bearer.

Another!? That makes four, I wanted to encounter another bearer, but this is rediculous.

"There is another bearer around, no doubt that you already know. I suggest we travel together, your god has probably notified you that my god and your's shared an alliance in the days of old, Daranis wishes to continue that alliance should Alminor wish that as well. We will need each other's protection should we make it to the temple alive. But speak quickly, there are two bearers nearby who will need dealing with."

"I am quite aware of that. You can, I suppose, call me Ree." She spoke in an odd combination of the thieves' dialect overlayed on the cultured manner of the nobility. "I believe Alminor mentioned something about Daranis and a few others when he... recruited me. Didn't pay it much mind. I've no objection to travelling with you."
You're very brash, Ree d'Artos. Are you sure he speaks the truth?
"Sure enough," she said, ignoring completely the fact that she would seem to be talking to herself. "And anyway, as I have said many a time before, I frankly don't much care."
Yes. You have said that many times. But he is right child, the other bearers need to be dealt with one way or another.
"Whatever." Ree scanned the surrounds. "I think one of them is behind that hill." She guestured with the bow. "Don't know quite where the other fellow is. Oh. Hang on a tick." She waved vaguely at the small fire that still burned, and it went out. "Now, shall we go have a look-see?"

    They know you are here.
"Yes, I know. Well, let's just see where this leads."

He stands up and holds his hands apart in a gesture of friendship. "I mean neither of you any harm." His voice is amplified and seems to be coming from directly in front of them, despite the fact that he is actually a good two dozen yards away. "Selene has never had any problems with either of you, and she has no wish to start any now." Julian walks toward them, allowing his staff to dissipate. It slowly fades away, the silver runes disappearing last. He reaches them and swiftly bows to the female. "May I be graced with your name, my lady?"

Uriel finally reaches the top of the hill and peers silently at the three others, studying them. After a small while of staring he opens his mouth to speak...

Peace, Uriel! ... No harsh words. Befriend them. Become allies with them. Learn about their weak spots... Some may even be my allies.

Uriel's mouth closes once more and he nods. Aah, such a wise lord he has aquired. And thus, he now steps forth, a pleasant smile apon his features as he speaks. "Greetings, friends!" The man slows to a halt some three or so paces away from the group and offers a deep nod, almost a bow, to them. His clerical, priestly attire and pleasant manner shows nothing but friendliness, and perhaps the only thing out of place with him is that dark ankh resting idly, innocently, apon a chain, hung about his neck.

"Well, they're comin' out of the woodworks." She looked at the two newcomers. "I'm just gonna go ahead and tell you all three that fancy manners are wasted on me, and I don't stand on ceremony. And don't call me a lady. I'm most certainly not one." She looked at them all again, her gaze lingering on the latest new comer, the might-be cleric. "That aside, I'm Ree, and we'll have no problems so long as you don't try to do something foolish, like stopping me from doing something I want to do."
Are you always that plainspoken, child?
    "Yes. Yes, I am."
I am glad that you will be traveling with the Lady Selene's chosen one, and the same of Daranis. But what of the other? You should check his allegiance.
"As I've said before, I don't care. I'll handle it if it comes up, and makes a difference."

Uriel simply gives a simple nod to Ree's words, then shifts his gaze down to that bow, and the flames held by the string... "And she is of fire..." He mutters softly to himself. His gaze turns to study the others, to see if he could find any indications as to what they bear. He arrived too late to hear Julians utterance of his god, so he is still in the dark as to that. After a small search for any indications, he turns his gaze back to the woman, "Very well. But only on the condition you do not call me a lord. For I am no more a lord than you are a lady..." He shifts his gaze to address the entire group once more, "I am Uriel. And I Do hope you will allow me to accompany you all on our journey...?" His brow quirks in question...

I'm sorry, I haven't yet caught your god's name, Uriel."

Dei was glad to find to friendly bearers in one day, but he wasn't sure about the last newcomer. He hadn't announced his god. But Dei merely hung back and watched to see his response to the other man's question.

    Name: Kiel ven Diekaron
    Age: 28
    Profession: Adventuring Scholar
Brief Description: Kiel is of slightly less than average height, with a freak of birth having left him with snowy white hair from the day it grew in. When he was younger, he did his best to stain it a color less obvious; these days, however, it shines proudly white when it isn't dirty. His eyes are a pale blue, and his career has left him with a bronzed tan to his skin. He commonly wears simple traveller's clothes - a tunic, breeches, and boots high enough to keep the worst of the weeds and small pests from attacking him - and carries a pack on his shoulders, stuffed with supplies and a thick tome that he spends his evenings scribing in.
Brief History: Kiel was born, appropriately enough, outside the walls of a Great University; growing up, he spent as much time badgering the scholars
within the halls as he did outside playing in the street. His father was a militiaman for the town, and his mother was a papermaker; his elder brothers already had joined the militia by the time he began to try to split his time between training with his father to help defend the town and watching the scholars in the University. Eventually, when he reached the age of decision, he reluctantly turned from the University's halls and took up the spear in defense of the town - but by then he'd learned to read and write, and he'd developed a need to know things. It didn't take long before he picked up a blank tome from the university along with a few packets of the powdered ink they kept, and slipped out of his home one night. A few years later, he awoke to see a vague shimmering hovering over him, and he heard a Voice whispering to him with the voice of time's grains grating together, calling him to free it, before it collapsed into a ring around his hand. The God of Time, Tieran, had chosen him.
    -God Information-
    Name: Tieran
    Element: Time
Appearance: Tieran has no "true" form, save as a vague shimmering in the air. More often he assumes the shape of something or someone nearby, either far younger or far older than it - he might appear as the wizened old crone that the chuld in the cradle will become one day, or as a thin sapling that the mighty oak behind him used to be...
Conjured Weapon: An excellently balanced spear, the haft made of a dark wood shot through with countless colors, the blade made of a fluid-looking metal that shimmers in any light
Artifact: A signet ring of a strange, fluid-looking metal
    ------------------------------------------------------

Kiel sighed, relaxing for a moment on a rock; sooner or later, he knew, one of Tieran's old allies would happen along this way. As well as at least one of his old foes - not that it mattered much, anymore. Tieran had given up on the war millenia before.

Remember, if you can enlist the aid of my old ally to destroy my old foes, young one, we can then turn on my old friends and destroy them as well, before they are released and start this whole stupidity over again... The voice grated in Kiel's mind, conjuring phantom visions in his mind's eye of the world as it had been when the gods had last fought, ravaged to the brink of destruction.

"I know, Tieran. I'm just not sure why you gods can no more live in harmony than the people back home could. It seems almost laughable - as if it'd be easier to just seal you all away with a stronger block."

Would that such were possible. I see now the havoc our war caused - and the result of what it will cause again, should we all be freed... The signet ring warmed, faintly, and Kiel glanced towards the direction the others would be coming from. Caution, boy. They'll be in numbers, and fitful alliance.

"I'll be cautious, never fear. I don't feel like dying just yet."

Calico?! He serves the Darkness, Ree! He is my enemy!
Ree's face remained impassive. However, for once, she made a conscious effort not to speak out loud. It didn't seem wise at the time. So? What is that to me?
I did not think you meant what you stated when I warned you of the possibility of meeting enemies.
Well, I did. As long as he doesn't try to kill me or otherwise meddle in my business, I don't have a problem. Your little war is of no interest to me.
... Very well, then. But keep your guard up, child.
"Always," she said aloud. She glanced at Uriel again. It did strike her odd that such a man would chose to work with someone associated with darkness, though, and she filed it away for later. The bracelet heated again. To the group she said, "There's another one close by."

So... none of my enemies have shown themselves yet. Be especially friendly with this Uriel. Calico and I had long worked together before we were imprisoned.

Julian nods to himself, assuming the rest of the Bearers will understand it as a communication with his Spirit. "Yes, Ree. I sense the other Bearer too. I greet you, Uriel, in the name of Selene, once ally with your own Spirit. Unless someone has a problem which remains unspoken, then the four of us should make a companionable group. With nothing else particularly pressing at the moment, I suggest we find the nearby Bearer and find out his allegiance."

Uriel tilts his head to one side slightly apon the sounding of faint, amused laughter within his mind...

Aaah, Selene. Yes, this mans words are truth, Uriel. Bear him no ill will.

Nodding faintly, Uriel gives a small chuckle himself, then nods deeply to Julian, his smile widening faintly, "You speak the truth, friend. His eyes widen slightly apon the heated sensation apon his chest, and his gaze shifts around once more, "Well, I don't know about all of you, but I have been travelling alone these last weeks... Seems we were almost destined to meet here in a group..."

    Spirit bearer
    Name: Tera Odger
    Age: 23
    Profession: Assassin
Discription: Tera's hair is of the blackest black, hanging streight to her shoulders. Her eyes are a deep brown, giving her a stare that could pierce lead. her skin is a soft olive color blending her features well. The darkness of her features make her a good night-stalker. She a bit of a klutz too.

History: After being cast out of her middle class family for refusing to marry a nobleman's son, (a great dishonor) she found herself living amongst the poverty stricken lower class. Being unable to feed herself she resorted to stealing from others untill one day she was caught trying to rob a crime lord. Instead of killing her, as would have been her fate any other day, He trained her to replace an assassin that he had lost earlier that week. She really didn't like the idea of killing people, but if she refused he would have killed her, so she accepted. Two years later, after killing a man in debt to her employer, she was running from the town guard only to trip over a begger in the street and get caught. That night while she slept in her cell, a bright god came to her telling her that he needed her help. When she awoke there was an amulet glowing with the purest white light in the corner of her cell. Crawling over to where it lay she examined it carfully, but soon she heard a guard coming and stuffed it in her pocket. Her employer had paid her way out, the guard informed her as he unlocked her cell. Soon she began hearing a voice in her head, making people think she was crazy when she shouted at herself. To prevent further embarrassment her employer had her taken out of the city blindfolded, and dumped in a forest so she would be unable to find her way back.

    God
    Name: Candidus
    Element: Light
Appearence: a Shining figure of a wolf, so bright it is hard to look upon.
Conjured Weapon: a dagger that it can blind enemies, and never needs sharpening.
    Artifact: Amulet of White Light

    ______________________________________________

Tera sulked down the forest road looking for something, anything that looked familiar.
    You can help me
"SHUT UP!! I DON'T WANT TO TALK TO YOU!!!" Tera screemed out loud.
"You ruined my life, I don't want to talk anymore."
all you have to do is release me and I'll stop
Tera tried her hardest, as she had done many times before to ignore the voice as she stomped down the road. "If you were such a powerful--" Tera's Question was cut short when she tripped over a tree root and smashed into the ground. "OUCH! WHY COULDN'T YOU HAVE WARNED ME OF THAT!" She got up and examined the blood oozing from a gash in her knee. "Why can't you just find somebody else?"
Quiet mortal, there are other spirit bearers nearby
Tera's amulet grew hot under her shirt as she spotted a group of people conversing in the distence. She waved her hand at them but they didn't seem to notice so she ran towards them. maybe they'll be able to give me some food at least. She though to herself.
Be careful, you know not if they are friend or foe, remember what I told you of the other spiritbearers. Get them to reveal what god they are working for first Tera kept running. leave me alone, you've caused me enough trouble already.

Perhaps we should go looking for them. Your ring will allow something of a method of finding them...

Kiel sighed, and stood. "I suppose so. I was rather comfortable there, you know." After stretching, the snowy-haired man begins to wander off in the direction that causes his ring to grow warmer, not bothering to try to conceal the sound of his passage - after all, there was no need to worry unless one of Tieran's foes was there and ready to attack him.

A few minutes of walking found the other spiritbearers easily enough; Kiel sighed, and waved a hand in the air as he called out. "Hallo! Would I be correct in guessing that at least some of you are on your way to an old Temple?"

The bracelet heated another increment, and Ree had time enough to exclaim, "Yet another one?" before a girl ran over the hill towards the group. "Well, hello there." Ree figured her for another Bearer, but either a very naive one, or one who cared about the politcs of the situation as little as she. There seemed to be something the slightest bit familiar about her, but Ree couldn't quite place it.
As she stood thinking, the other bearer, a white haired man, appeared over the hill. "Well, good grief. I think that you're right, ...Uriel, is it? We must be destined to go together." She took a closer look at the girl. "When was the last time you had something to eat?" Without waiting for her to answer, Ree slung her pack off of one shoulder to dig in it. She produced a half a loaf of bread she'd lifted before she'd left town, and handed it to the girl. "I could swear I've seen you before."

    'ware, Uriel, yet more approach...

The amulet apon the mans chest increase slightly in intensity once again, affirming his gods words, but by now he had grown used to that heat, and payed it no mind. Uriels gaze slides back and forth between the two new arrivals, studying each curiously. He gives a brief nod in affirmation of Ree's question, "I wonder if we will meet any others further on our travels..." He shifts his gaze to Kiel, tilting his head to one side slightly. "Yes, you would be correct. Were you going to accompany us, perhaps?" His brow raises slightly in the question, voice curious, nothing more, "And I dont suppose you would give a name on who you serve...? You too..." Those last two words were, of course, directed to the new female in the group.

Tera's eyes grew enormous at the site of food, and she took the loaf graciously. "Thank you so much!" She said hungrily.
Be careful it could be a trick.
"Pipe down I'm eating." She commanded the voice. Suddenly realizing that she was speaking aloud. "Oh, um.." Turning towards the woman, "I don't remember if we have met." She thought about it as she chewd on a chunk of bread.
"Oh, I forgot, my name is Tera." She gave a smile to the group of strangers.
FOOL! be more cautious, they may know who you are!
"I would love to have some company." replying to the cleric's question "At least untill I can find somplace to stay."
Good, make them unaware of your goals
I'm not going on your stupid quest, leave me out of this! she felt yelling would give her more curious looks, like the ones she had recieved many times before.

I suppose it is a foolish thing to ask, but are you intending to find out who she or the white haired one serve?
    "Not particularly. Told you before-"
Yes, yes, I know, you do not care. Of all the bearers I could have chosen, you.
She ignored the reproof and suspected insult. "So. I suppose we're all bound for the same place, and we might as well go together. For those of you who came in late, I'm Ree." She looked at Tera again. She was now sure that she'd seen the girl somewhere before. "Anyway."

"Accompany, yes." A faint grin crosses Kiel's face, and he bows to everyone. "I am Kiel, and I bear Time with me." He glances towards Ree, and smirks. "Destiny or Fate - this is one of the simplest routes towards where we're all headed, really. I imagine a few other groups are forming, like water pooling before it spills down the next slope."

That, and like attracts like - even if foe. Likely we'll see more 'ere we reach the Temple. Do try to find out who these others bear - I wouldn't like to be stuck here with you having been knifed in the back.

Dei gave a suspicious look at the two newcomers, but he decided to let them talk amongst themselves.
Dark clouds began to move in over the small clearing in the forest. There was no rain nor sound of storm, but the clouds slowly began to increase in darkness. Dei looked up as he felt the presence of another bearer, his iron leaf didn't get hotter, but somehow he sensed the man, merely from feeling the wind.
Your powers grow as you get nearer to the temple, I don't know how this man is hiding his presence to the others, but I sense what you do, and I don't think this bearers intentions good.
Dei saw a flicker of light in the sky, "Oh shit!" Dei jumped back, throwing the others with the force of the wind to land several yards away. When the others looked up, a lightning bolt struck the ground where they previously stood.
Another bolt hit the ground, leaving no damage, but showing a man, he looked at the group of bearers and merely laughed, then another bolt was preduced that carried the man back upward.
"Be wary, this bearer is one of evil intent, he sides with no god. We must stand together and fight him." As Dei finished talking the man appeared behind Dei swinging, Dei barely had time to parry the blow of the man's katana, though it knocked Dei off balance. The man was incredibly fast, no doubt was it that he was the bearer of lightning.

Uriel opens his mouth to reply to the 'bearer of time', but his attention averts to the sight of those clouds.

Uriel... Those clouds are no natural occurance...

Uriel, however, was already on the lookout - yes, he was misguided, but he was not an imbecile. However, there is not much he could do at the force of the winds conjured by Dei, and thus he is pushed back to land ungracefully. His body, though, shudders with the shock of the bolt of lightning landing so near. Due to his training, however, he already rises from the ground and, upon noticing the man swinging a sword behind Dei, he lifts his right hand in a waving motion at this person, calling apon the powers of his dark god. Of course, his intentions in doing so were simply to shroud the mans eyes in a sheet of inpenetrable darkness, effectively blinding him. Uriel was a quick-minded person and the way he saw it - what use was incredible speed, which this person seemed to have, if he could not see where he was moving? The spell would only last, perhaps ten seconds, however, but Uriels other hand was also extended, A rod of pure, black shadows congealing in its grip. Once reaching two meters in length, those shadows would gain density, becoming a black, wooden texture and, jutting from both edges - two, faintly curved, black metallic blades.

Ree would have protested being knocked flat on her back, had she not seen the lightning strike. Instead, she merely jumped back up to her feet.
'Ware, child, he bears lightning, and his reflexes in all probability will be faster than yours.
She didn't reply, there was no time. Uriel was doing something, looked to be useful. Ree drew her own sword, and rushed the man. True to the warning, he leapt out of the way before she could touch him. But he missed her as well. Ree might not care about the politics, but now she was angry. She made a guesture, and threw a ball of flames at the man. A thought occured to her, and she tried it out. It seemed to work. Her sword began to glow with heat.
She did not say anything; when she was well and truly furious she rarely did. She merely took another swipe at the fellow.

Kiel rolled to his feet - militia training proved useful for once - with his weapon flashing into being in his hand. A faint, bemused grin danced on his features as pale blue eyes narrowed and focused on the attacker - and the air around the unnamed one seemed to almost gel, as time dragged for him, slowing him down a bit - perhaps enough to be dealt with.

Clever. you could've sped up, you know, to match him. He's still faster than any of you right now.
Yes, but I'm not lightning proof. Enough of us attacking him slowed down, and we can likely bring him down. Ree seems to be doing a fair job already.

With a grunt, he hefted his spear - and threw it, like a javelin, at the attacker.

Julian blinked to clear his eyes from the afterinage of the lightning. His arm flung out to his side, the twisted staff appearing in it, laid out along his arm. He twists his arm back, up and in, twirling the staff in front of him just in time to knock away an accidental blow from the attacker as this Bearer recoiled from Ree's flames. He noticed that this new man suddenly seemed to slow down and noticed Kiel's momentary concentration on the man; this must be his work. Julian couldn't think of how his powers could help in this instance -combat was never Selene's forte- so he simply kept his staff whirling through the air, preventing the attacker from backing any farther away from Ree and Uriel...

Tera got to her feet as quickly as she could, steadying herself as the others were engaged with this evil bearer. She summoned the light dagger for the first time, and realized it was warm in temperature as well as light. Noticing the man slow down she paused to reexamine her throwing point then whipped the dagger with anger and accuracy, not waiting to see if it hit, but drawing her sword and rushing to join the others in battle. The words of her previous employer rang through her head. "Think not about the outcome of the action, always be ready for failure." She shook her head faintly hoping it would erase her memories.
WHAT ARE YOU DOING! The spirit's voice in her head boomed with anger. But Tera didn't care, as she reached the man to engage him, and took a slash at this mysterious person whom seemed intent to kill.

Dei turned as he sat up to see the other three already upon the man. Dei had seen how a common foe banded people together who were so mistrusting at first, many times before. But the enemy was taking their attacks lightly, merely playing with them. Araith didn't want him to get serious with them, so he figured he ought to end this in one attack.

Knowing what Dei was thinking about, Daranis intervened. That attack will seriously drain you, leaving to the mercy of those other three.

I know...but I see no alternative, we must do our worst while he still holds back the full extent of his powers.

Dei took several steps back, and closing his eyes he strained his muscles as well as his mind to summon his attack. The wind rapidly grew in force, until a small whirlwind enveloped Dei's body. Dei was lifted up above the ground, though his body remained steady. The man turned to run, but Deis halberd dug deep into the tree he was about to run by, the man couldn't stop his momentum before running into it. He went down on his back.

The winded picked up more and more, threatening to remove the trees from where they stood. The man, getting up onto his knees, then to his feet, looked back just in time to recieve the attack.

Dei went straight towards the man, almost instantaneously, the whirlwind staying with him. Dei brought his feet up to meet the man's chest, the man had no time to block the attack. The man was sent sprawling backwards, but the whirlwind following him instead of Dei now. The man was shaken violently in a circular motion in the whirlwind, the shear force of the wind started cutting away at his clothing. The man was high in the air when the whirlwind dissapated, throwing the man in the opposite direction of the party.

Dei was thrown on his back, exhausted from his attack. The only words he could utter was "He's still alive!" before blackness enveloped his eyes.

Uriel had stayed back in this battle after attempting to blind the man - thus studying each of his 'allies' fighting styles and skills - He was better when it came to defence, than offense anyway. All the same, once Dei summoned that raging whirlwind, Uriel backed away a pace or two to avoid bieng swept up but the force of the raging winds. He was in awe of this ability, however - he could think of no skill of his own that could be so deadly at his current powers. Once the man had been thrown away, and Dei uttered those words, Uriel skirted forth to the unconscious man, lowering himself and reaching a hand out to check for a pulse. Yes he may be foe, but he could be very useful in future. Upon finding a pulse, however, Uriel raises once more, holding his blackened staff defensively before him - if this man WAS still alive as said, having an immobile person to protect was going to make things even more difficult.

Julian watches all this in amazement. The new girl could certainly throw a knife well and the rest were pretty good with their various weapons as well. Dei's whirlwind attack was immensly impressive and Julian is forced to throw himself backward to avoid being picked up by the raging cyclone. He watches Wind's Bearer drop to the ground and quickly silenced himself and ran toward where the whirlwind had thrown their adversary. He grasps his staff in one hand, hoping that at least some the others will follow. He runs until he can see the attacker. He is lying on the ground, apparently injured, but still obviously breathing; Dei had been correct. He chose to wait a moment before rushing the injured man, looking behind to see if any of the others had followed.

While Julian pauses, Kiel flashes by, his own movement speeded threefold at the least; in his hand is the spear, having returned to his grasp after being thrown.

A rapid spin of the spear poised the mercurial blade over the man's throat, and for a moment Kiel paused, perhaps long enough for someone else to intervene.

Strike! Lay him low before he wakes, that one fewer god will chance being released!

Tera jumped back to avoid being swept up in the whirlwind. She turned to see the lightning man thrown as she heard a thud behind her. She spun around to see Dei sprawled upon the ground. "He's still alive!" He gasped before he passed out. She kneeled next to the exhausted man.
Do it now, take him out!
Tera ignored the voices in her head, concern drawn accross her face. She heard comotion behind her as she turned to look towards the lightning man. Kiel stood over the attacker, with his spear at the man's throat.
Stop the death of that man, you must prevent it!
She turned her attention back to Dei. "Does anybody have water?" She called out to the others.

Uriel now strides forth, almost at a jogging pace, to where the other man lay - injured and with a spear to his throat. He opens his mouth to speak to spare the mans life, but halts apon the incredible sense of warning within his mind

You must destroy this man! The accursed god of lightning will cause much terror and pain with his electrical discharges, should he be released.

Uriel falters in this - he had always dreamed of killing a foe in a glorious battle, but this? This seemedly defenseless man? Could he really take a life, when he had been spending his entire existence preserving it? A moments more hesitation, before he simply lowers his head slightly, speaking in perhaps a hesitant voice as he addresses Julian. "You must... kill him..." Thus was his gods will, and who was he to argue?
