OOC: You can join, but depending on the character, you might not want to jump into the fray right now. But do as you wish.

The bearer of lightning opened his eyes to a spear poised to strike at his throat. The bearer's right arm was limp, completley torn by the wind of Dei's attack, he quickly thought of a hundreds of possible things to do, but could only find one real oppurtunity. The man weakly rose his left are in a weakened state, and started to ask for help, throwing the man off guard, he grabbed the point and sent a jult of electricity through it, putting it's wielder in immense pain. The bearer jumped up and fled with speed of a lightning bolt. Getting far enough away not to be tracked.

Ree figured the others had the strange fellow under control, and dropped her sword to let it cool. Then the man struck suddenly, and fled. Her bow was in her hand in a moment, but he was already too far away to strike. She swore. "He'll be back, I figure," she said to the group at large. Then she turned back to check the injured, after taking a moment to make sure that none of her flames had spread out of control.
I do not understand. The god of lightning and I were allies once, yet he tries to kill my bearer, and a few other old allies, if I shouldn't be mistaken.
"Yeah, well, I'm not surprised. Nothing fails faster than an old alliance when there is new power at stake. I am a little surprised that you didn't say anything about me, you know, trying to kill the guy."
You would not have listened, and it would have distracted you, perhaps fatally.
"Glad to know you're not a fool." She checked on Dei, who seemed to be all right, just exhausted, and she decided that he was in capable enough hands. Then she went to check on the new guy, to see if he was all right.

Julian watches the Bearer of lightning escape, too far away to do anything about it, especially with the attacker's speed. His staff dissipates and he jogs back over to the others, joining them in checking on Dei's condition.
Lightning's Bearer is already strong. You will need these others if you are to survive to make it to the Temple.
To himself, Julian thinks: "Yeah, yeah, I know. Sound just isn't that powerful when compared to those like Lightning or Fire. Even Wind could decimate me if it came to that."
Only perhaps. We have some hidden powers that no one else can defend, let alone expect. You have power in your own right, it just needs to be harnessed and used correctly.
"Unless anyone has any objections, I suggest we stay here and rest for the night. Lighting would be able to catch up to us regardless of how far we go, and Dei needs some time to recouperate."

    -Spiritbearer Information-
Name: Lekkme (He no longer remembers his last name.)
    Age: 620
    Profession: Wanderer
Brief Description: Lekkme has been inhabited by Rahab, the god of water, for so long, that he has forgotten everything but his purpose as a Spiritbearer. He has come from so far away, and from such a distant past, that he is far-estranged from reality. He is also beginning to take on the aspects of his god. He has a watery cast to his eyes, and scales mail his back and shoulders. The stumps of fins sprout from his shoulders. He wears a dark cloak and robe to hide it.
He is a bitter and vicious individual, and he hates the burden given him by Rahab's spirit. He is also lonely, but he fears to reach out, lest others discover his horrible mutation.

    -God Information-
    Name: Rahab
    Element: Water
Appearance: A tall, thin, fish-like humanoid with twin curling horns and a long tail. Great fins adorn its back.
    Conjured Weapon: Trident
Artifact: A small fish of black crystal with eyes of sapphire.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lekkme surfaced from the surface of the raging cataract, leaping like a fish up to the top of the stream. He rippled forward underneath the surface, crawling along, pulling himself along the stones of the riverbed.

"Look well, child. Your foretold companions await." intoned the deep, watery voice of Rahab. A flash of the god's snakish face came to Lekkme's mind.
"Silence yourself, demon. I heard their conflagration miles away." snapped Lekkme mentally.
The deep-throated voice of Rahab only chuckled malevolently.

Lekkme lifted himself from the waters and lurched forward to observe the other Spiritbearers.

Kiel's spear stabbed dirt, as the lightning-bearer transformed, flashing away as a bolt of lightning into the sky. "Damn!" He wrenched the spear from the dirt, and spun on his heel to face the others. "I think we should go, now. I suddenly have a dark feeling about something soon to pass here."

    -Spiritbearer Information-
    Name: Drayen or "Dray"
    Age: Forgotten
    Profession: Wraith
Description: Most of this Wraith's background is shrouded in unclear rumors, legends, and folklore. It is not even clear what race he really is, or how old he is. The only thing that is certain is that unsolvable deaths have occurred over a long span of years, and no one really knows, though it is rumored, that he did them. To some extent, the rumors may be true, but then again, they might not be. Tales tell of him being immortal. Others say that he simply is a normal human orphan. Whatever the world thinks, Drayen doesn't care. He lives his shadowy life without care. Morals are nonexistent. Rules are made to be broken. He has no normal garb, instead continually shifting his appearance with fluid ease. He can take almost any humanoid form.

After recieving the powers of the Earth God several months ago, the wraith soon began to experience first a wave of powers that were divergant from the ones he possesed. Able to blend into anywhere, go through physical barriers and even summon deathly attacks, utilizing the underworld's energies, Drayen soon found some of his original powers increased, others totally gone. In their place were new abilities that he slowly discovered and learned to harness. It was soon after this period of learning that Ckeli, the Earth God, finally contacted him, appearing as a ghostly grizzly bear while Drayen was shifting between the underworld and the mortal realm.

    -God Information-
    Name: Ckeli
    Element: Earth
Appearance: Giant Grizzly Bear with claws sheathed in glittering gold. A ring of silver encircles his head and his entire form seems to have been created from obsidian stone.
    Conjured Weapon: Obsidian Battleaxe
Artifact: Obsidian amulet with a single golden bear claw

    ---------------------------------------------------------------

They approach, little spirit. Do as I have commanded and all will go according to my plan.

    "You pompous self rightous worthless..."

Enough! If you are able to eliminate my enemies and free me, your rewards will extend far beyond any mortal's wildest dreams..

"You forget yourself, Bear. I am no mere mortal."

Ckeli did not respond. Drayen continued walking along the beaten earth path. For the moment he appeared to be a simple traveler, unarmed and hardly dangeorus to anyone. Beneath his ragged clothing hung the Earth God's amulet. As time passed, the amulet began to warm, warning of the bearers that his god had already said were approaching. Drayen stopped moving and found a spot beneath the shade of a large tree, overlooking the path. In idleness, he began playing with his newfound powers, calling up spheres of molten earth, which he juggled, always keeping an eye on the path.

Lekkme watched, seeing his rivals in this journey.

"These, too, seek your pile-of-rust fane?" Lekkme said.
"Yes. That one, there, the tall female with one eye. She bears my adversary, the Fire God. She must be...eliminated." Rahab replied sinisterly.
"So, I suspect, will they all." remarked Lekkme dryly.
    "Yes, my servant." Rahab intoned.
"I am not your servant, monster. I am your gaoler, and your prison. If I wish, I shall cast your horrid soul to the four winds and be free of you!." Lekkme hissed.
Rahab gave a watery chuckle. "The God of the Heavens was right. Hope is the most resilient light in the mortal soul. Perhaps you may have threatened me so six centuries past, but now, both you and I know that I have become as inextricably a part of you as your own heart." Rahab said, his deep voice tinted with amusement.
"Oh, how well I know, demon." Lekkme spat bitterly.

Lekkme started down the hill, but suddenly stooped to the ground, clasping his head with his webbed, flat hands. The shifting, distorted geometries and colors of the spirit world overlayed themselves over the reasonable patterns of the mortal realm.

"Punishing me for my impertinence, water-fiend?" Lekkme said, head spinning with the alien shapes and echoed sounds.
"You know me well, my servant." Rahab said, his voice snide.

Tera turned her head back in the direction of the lightning man, just in time to see him zip off. "Damn!" She cursed at the situation and turned back at Dei. The others were starting to gather around him too. "Should we rest here, or do we move on?" She questioned as she looked up at the others.
Leave him for the animals or the bearer of the lightning god.
pretending like she didn't hear anything she waited for someone to answer, but feeling her pendant grow warmer she scanned the area to see someone standing off in the distence.

Kiel glanced, a silent inner voice - his own, rather than that of the god of Time - prodding him.

What he saw widened his eyes noticably, and without even realizing it his spear found its way into his hand, ready to be cast like a javelin at the half-man, half-fish thing on the hillside.

Ah. Likely he's a poor sap caught in the grasp of Rahab. Just another victim of this mindless war - don't underestimate him, lad. To look like that he must have gained some fair measure of Rahab's powers, and that makes him deadly indeed...

"Right." Kiel muttered, quietly, before shouting up at Lekkme. "Hail, traveller! Are you here to fight, or to travel, at least for a little time, in peace?"
  14. Spiritbearers: Revival

"Well, this is turning out to be a nice little party. How many more Bearers can we expect tonight?"

It is part of the powers we have bestowed upon you, Julian. Anyone with an artifact will be drawn to others with artifacts, even if they don't realize it. You will run into many more Bearers before you reach the Temple, I assure you.

"Hmm." Julian sighs. "Well, let's go meet this new, rather fishy comer to our little group and find out where his allegiences lie."

Lekkme pulled his hood tighter, shading his too-flat nose and too-round eyes.
"Good greet, friend." he called to the man who had addressed him, his voice raspy from years without human speech, and thick as if his throat were filled with mucus.

"Well done, demon. You've revealed us already." Lekkme grated mentally.
"It was my intention all along. The Spiritbearers may be more receptive of your physical differences." Rahab replied.

The fish-man came to the base of the slope and bowed low in an ancient greeting. "I have come seeking directions which you fellows may provide me." he said.

Ree looked at the newcomer. She'd never seen anything quite like him before, and she wasn't at all sure she like what she saw. Half-sighing, she asked a mental question. "Do you know if he is supposed to be like that?"
I don't believe so. His appearance is probably from long association with Rahab, god of water. A most unkind deity. And one of my old enemies, should you be interested.
"I'll keep it in mind." She raised her voice to the newcomer. "Like as not, we're all going to the same place. Of course, it really depends on the others, but I for one don't care if you join us."
The bracelet warmed another increment, a sensation that Ree was already used to. She twisted around, scanning the surrounding area. Was that a faint glow over there by the path? She wondered if it would be a terribly foolish thing to go check by herself.
  17. Spiritbearers: Revival

The amulet around his neck began getting still warmer, not an unpleasant sensation. Drayen scanned the area around himself carefully. Nothing unusual moved among the dirt paths, the lightly wooded areas that surrounded him, nor the riverbed that gurgled beside the hill he was resting on. "So where are they, Ckali? Plotting an ambush? Watching me from a hidden place?" His question was rhetorical, merely the thoughts of a bored individual faced with the unknown. It was answered.

They are coming. Be on your guard, spirit. And do not trust anyone. Anyone.

"So, demon, what would you have me do?" said Lekkme to Rahab.
Rahab's serpent-fish image occupied the Spiritbearer's thoughts. "Bide your time. We shall strike when I see fit." the water-god said.
For a moment, Lekkme's eyes saw the spirit world, and now he saw Rahab's serpentine form overlayed on his own.
He sank to his feet, head pounding, dizzy.
"Why do you do this to me?!" he hissed out loud, clawing his eyes.

Uriel shakes his head faintly - a bearer attacking them so soon... And to make things worse, he did not dispose of him - much as he hated doing so, it was his gods wish, and though Caligo said nothing to him, he could tell he was displeased... He blinks though, shifting his gaze to peer at the newcomer at the top of that hill, and his mouth opens slightly - how odd...

Aah, it seems water now joins the party. careful, this one may be as hostile as that other...

"Yes master," the man uttered - of course, to the others it would seem he is talking to himself, but then, they all had the same voices within their heads. but his eyes widen yet more as his amulet glinted warmth yet again - yet another bearer yet to be seen... this crowd was getting rather uncomfortable for him... All the same, at Lekkme's words, Uriel smiled, and nods his agreeal at Ree's words.

Ignoring the warmth of his ring, Kiel cleared his throat. "You're welcome to travel with us, I suppose - I, for one, don't care if you do or not. Butwhatever we do, we need to do it now, and get going now. I'm having an ill feeling about the near future, and I don't want to be here when whatever it is decides to happen."

Tera looks at the newcomer only to feel her amulet grow warmer. "And yet another comes to join the ranks?" she questioned, as she place a hand over her amulet and stood to look for the new arrival. She then turned her attention to finding the dagger that she had thrown earlier, not knowing if it missed or not. It was easy to find in the grass based on the fact that it gave off a warm white glow. "How did it not strike true?" she questioned out loud as she picked up the warm white dagger and studied it. Tera allowed it to dissolve into nothingness in her hand as she walked back over towards the uncontious man.

Dei opened his eyes as the leaf at his belt grew warmer. Dei didn't have enough energy to stand, but he grabbed Tera. The words came from Dei in a weak tone, barely audible. " We need to find somewhere to stay for the ni...." Dei went back into the an unconcious state, he hoped that the at least one of the bearers would look out for him, he knew he was out for the rest of the night.

Lekkme sank heavily to the ground and removed a flint-and-tinder box from a pocket of his robe.
"I have had no use for these for...nary 50 years." said Lekkme, setting them on the ground. "Mayhap someone could start a fire to warm the Wind Bearer there. Or perhaps we could use the Fire Bearer's powers?"
  28. Spiritbearers: Revival

    #68
Kiel snatched up the flint and steel - and then stooped, and bodily heaved the unconcious man over his shoulder. "A fire, yes - but not here. Come. This way. Swiftly now, before something befalls us." And with that, he sets out down the path, each step slightly faster than the last, never quite breaking out of a walk...
  29. Spiritbearers: Revival

    #69
Tera stands up to follow Keil, looking back over her shoulder. The heat that her amulet was giving off began to make her uneasy again as she brushed off her cloak. "You're right, we're too exposed here." She agreed with a nod as she looked up at Keil. "Maybe the forest would be a better place to rest."
  30. Spiritbearers: Revival

    Bearer. They come.

Drayen turned his head to the path, allowing the earthen balls he'd been amusing himself with to melt back into the ground beneath him. He still saw no movement, only the swish of grass and the rustle of leaves. The amulet around his neck said otherwise, as it steadily grew warmer. Drayen sat up, still in his traveler's form. As a wraith, he could shift into most humanoid forms with little difficulty.

The path stayed empty, void of beings. But they were coming.
  31. Spiritbearers: Revival

    #71
Ree wandered up the path, slightly ahead of the group. Should the new Bearer prove hostile, she wanted to be sure she could get a clear shot. She started singing softly to herself in Theives' Cant. Things were happening just a tad too fast for her liking, and so she took refuge in something that was still familiar.
  32. Spiritbearers: Revival

    #72
Before he even came into sight of the one waiting up ahead, Kiel called out. "You, up ahead? Are you enemy or are you willing to be peaceful for a time?" The spear remains in the grip not occupied with carrying Dei, as he's got a mild edge of paranoia just now - something bad is going to happen to this area shortly.
  33. Spiritbearers: Revival

    #73
Cautiously, Drayen stood up, stretching against the trunk of the tree before stepping onto the path. He'd heard a voice addressing him.

Clothed in a tattered brown cloak, beneath which was an equally travel worn pair of beeches and shirt. No weapons were visible on his person, but a hunting knife was sheated sideways on the back of his belt.

Drayen fingered the amulet with Ckeli's spirit within it as he walked slowly down the path and crested the hill. Standing on the top of it looking down, he spied a small group, all bearers. In the lead was one bearing a spear. As he watched, the voice in his head spoke again.

That one is the chosen of Tieran, the God of Time.

Drayen ignored him for now. If time was dangerous then so be it.

"Bearers are you? I am known as Drayen. And I suppose that I'm peaceful just now. What about you?"
  34. Spiritbearers: Revival

    #74
Ree shrugged. "As long as you aren't trying to kill me, I won't be forced to kick your ass."
You are very rash and impolite, child.
"Yeah, well, you knew that when you approached me. You don't like my attitude, tough." She looked around. "D'you think there are any others hiding somewhere about? This is getting ridiculous."
  35. Spiritbearers: Revival

    #75
Julian pulled his flute out of his belt and blew a quick ascending trill on it. "I agree with that, Ree." If we run into any more Bearers tonight, we're going to be able to call ourselves a mob." So what now, then? Are we all going to rest here for the night, or are we going to move and rest somewhere else? It would be nice if we could get going, regardless of what we're going to do."
  36. Spiritbearers: Revival

    #76
Lekkme began to speak, but gave a bubbling cough and spat up a lump of mud.
"My...apologies..I have troubles...Bearer of..." he burbled.
"He bears Ckeli, the earth god." informed Rahab.
    "...Ckeli." finished Lekkme.
  37. Spiritbearers: Revival

    #77
The Fire God seems to have picked an awfully impudent bearer. We'll deal with her later.

    Sure, Ckeli. If you can.

Drayen nodded their welcomes, however cold they seemed to be. The Water Bearer seemed to have born the weight for more than a few years.

"I don't believe there are anymore bearers nearby. Why is it becoming ridiculous?"
  38. Spiritbearers: Revival

    #78
'Well, all of us ended up together, and there was a spot of unpleasantness a bit ago with someone else, who will probably end up having a very bad day if I have a say in it. It's just kinda unexpected, y'know." Ree looked around. She hadn't been at this very long, but she was getting very put out. She missed the city around her, and she felt like her life had suddenly become unneccessarily complicated. Of course, part of it was her own damn fault, but she was still miffed.
  39. Spiritbearers: Revival

    #79
"Maybe we should save introductions untill we find someplace to rest." Tera stated, trying to break the tension.

resting amongst some of these bearers could prove fatal for you.

An angry look swept accross Tera's face as her spirit spoke to her. She ignored it's comment and looked at the newcommer. This journey was already becoming tiring to her, and the amount of unfamiliar faces was making her uncomfortable. Especially the fact that some of these people might try to kill her because she possessed a spirit that she didn't even like.
  40. Spiritbearers: Revival

    #80
"On the contrary - introductions are important. At least that way you can be fairly sure who'll potentially try to murder you in your sleep and who won't." Kiel refrains from admitting that he's likely to try to kill everyone off, at some point. Time is a powerful force, after all, and each step towards the Temple increases his control. When close enough, the power to halt Time would be his...
The Fire Bearer might be reasonable, you know. She doesn't seem very happy with the god that chose her - and the Shadowgod always lies....
