The Strange People of Khor Kal'ah
100 word submission. Rumors of the lands sounds of Abodroc
The Burning Lands are sparsely inhabited, and those that live there are strange and hardy folk. The People of Khor Kal'ah are known for being very strange. They live in the deepest desert and broken rock lands. Their women are said to be the most beautiful, but instead of proper lady gardens they have rocky crevasses betwixt their legs. Their men are feral and drink their own urine. They dance, they bite rocks, and use tools made of bone and flint. They also have congrex with desert spirits and demons. The Khor Kal'ahi worship ancient behemoths that await the end of the world under the sands.

Well, I hadn't thought of them for these guys, but they are written down in my notebook at work
This is a bit different. I like it because it reminds me of those bizarre, medieval guides on the exotic creatures and inhabitants of the world's unknown corners. Like the dog-headed people, or the folk with heads in their torsos, bees being born in ox carcasses, antelopes identified as unicorns, and all that. The drinking their own urine part did it.

Yeah, but already mentioned them in a text last night :) The lady-bits are exotic and out there! And of course cry-out for further explanation.
They don't have good domesticated men like we civilized folk. What does this say about how civilized men became domesticated?

I ran into the same problem, recently, 100 word subs were derided as being stubs.
Maybe I should revise my statement to say that I have no idea how to vote on this.
100 word submissions are not intended to be groundbreaking works. Rather, they are ideas laid bare, so generally a 100 word sub should bounce around between 2.5-3.5 score.
Our don't vote, scores are secondary to comments anyway. People don't post here to get gold stars, they post to get feedback right?
Idea: A '30 100-word Subs' sub, that all follow the same theme. 3000 words, evenly divided, on a similar yet diverse topic.
I don't post for feedback or stars, I've got a few subs with nothing on them, voted or comments. I post to organize my thoughts, I post so I can sleep. These are things I exorcise from my mind, so that I can have quiet.
why post at all then? why not just write it down and put it on your blog or even just save it to your hard drive.
A very excellent question. I have rubber totes and boxes full of spiral notebooks full of my writing. It's junk, moldering in a damp basement, or lost when the storage building holding it floods. Hard drives fail and about the only thing I hate more than constantly backing up a hard drive is blogging. I'm a writer, not a blogger. Blogging is like graffiti with better spelling and punctuation.
But you directed me to some hypocrisy of my own. I care much more about the discourse and conversation generated by what I write. The votes are nice but I like the comments. I like when someone springboards off my idea, when they find something useful or inspiring.
But lacking the citadel or a computer, I'm the caveman painting on the wall.
I have lost tons of stuff with hard drive fails. I feel your pain. But when you, Scras dies and some Ph.D. student working a thesis about your life discovers these spiral notebooks your work will have second life.
Cave paintings would last longer than anything mentioned.
Because the Citadel makes me be a better writer, more conscious, more effective and passionate in what I write.
There should not be problems with a 100-word challenge sub being short. That is kind of the point.

Congrex is the physical act of sexual relations between a mortal and a spirit or non-corporeal being. It isn't a typo.
Disagree on idea that these 100s should only get up to 3.5, I have a ton of 3-5 word notes in my books that ,for me, invoke hours of game play. A great 100 inspires the reader to expand on it or see the potential. 5/5
